A Flower in a Thorn Patch Chapter 1

. . .1

“NOOO!” I shout sitting strait up in bed.2

It was the dream again, for there was Aathina sound asleep on the cot beside me. Sounds of the coming attack are thick in the cool morning air. The sound of swords being tested, the clang of metal on mettle, the dull thud of arrows hitting targets. No birds can be heard over the preparations. I silently slip from the tent and began the walk to the stream. Slowly the sounds of camp give out to the sounds of the forest the place I really feel at home. At first the trees are spaced and there’s no brush, it looks almost magical the way the light shifts through the leaves far over head. I may even have seen a few fairies flitting about the trees. Soon I come to the first stream just a small trickle of water signaling the change in the forest. For once you cross the stream the forest gets dens a good place for animals and fairies to hide. If you didn't’t know the forest you could easily get lost. Soon I spot the secret trail you wouldn't’t know it was there if you didn't’t know were it was. I duck in and continue walking. The sun casts shadows down through the trees. Soon I reach the clearing were the swimming hole lies. Slowly I remove my dress and step into the cool water enjoying the way the bottom felt against my feet and the way the water tumbled over them. I laugh when a small minnow loses its way and bumps into my foot. Then I walked over and grabbed the rope Aathina and I had tied to a tree limb. I pulled it out and swung enjoying the wind on my face and the feeling of being free. I let go and land in the water enjoying the small current rushing around me connecting with my roots of the water folk. I can pass as a human when I’m drie but when I get wet my ears point and my fingers web. I can breath under water and my hair doesn’t flote like human hair only sometimes. I thought I saw something move in the bushes but dismiss it as nothing. I turn and something flies out of the bushes .

  • You've edited! At least alittle bit. I think partsof it were a little rambly and not really needed or at least not worded in a good way. But I think it was pretty good. I love the whole idea! Good Job!!
