    hello, i'm nicolas nickleby. (that's how i introduce myself, though it's not my name. most people don't get it though.)

    anyways, since you live in fantasy land, writing fiction, i'm going to force you to do a little something non-fictional. here's what i want you to do: at some point, observe some people. just anyone in a public enviroment. write down what they do and how they do it. and then decide why. explain why. it doesn't have to be totally true, i mean, you can't get inside their head just by observing, but try.

    so in a nutshell, tell pick a person or a few people, tell me what they do, and then try and explain it. and you can make up stories for them if you want. go deep. is she picking that cd because her boyfriend just broke up with her? does he walk like that because he doesn't fit in, and he's trying to prove he doesn't need to? that kind of stuff. you can do the observation anywhere. at school, at a doctor's office, the mall is a really good place, lots of diversity. so there it is. remember, real observations, make up your explanations of them. have fun!
