Charmed ~~ Number... Two!~~

I pulled us out of the Swirling Nothingness we'd been floating in. Tarniece, seeing my hair color, had suggested I pull up the Nothingness in case I decided to get violent and started throwing curses. I hadn't of course. Okay... maybe I threw ONE little ugly curse... Well it isn't like I threw a Black Death Curse!1

Coming back was always a little disorienting. The world bursts back in, giving you a dizzying deja-vu sort of feeling. Along with a nasty headache. It was always interesting for your senses to fade back into you along with your world, which was why almost every sane Magician pulled up Nothingness only in a quiet, secluded area. But I wasn't exactly a "sane" Magician as some people said. I preferred the term "open to new experiments". 2

We faded back into the middle of the servant's quarters in Meamini Estates where Tarniece works as a house fairy. I ducked to avoid a dangerous looking dwarf carrying a pot full of steaming not-exactly-delicious-looking-soup. That must mean it was expensive. Tarniece wasn't as lucky. I managed to freeze the dwarf before the soup splashed all over. I used a good portion of magic to shove the soup back into the expensive looking pot and moving the angry dwarf over a foot. Then I unfroze. Tarniece gave me an evil look. She didn't really like to be part of my experiments.3

A beautiful voice rose around me in an agitated soprano. I swiveled toward the sound and cried out,"Oleiza!" The gorgeous phoenix swooped in landing gracefully on my outstretched arm. Phoenixes range in the color known as red. The Breeder who provided me with Oleiza informed me that Oleiza was a "lovely shade of carmelized crimson. Not as popular as the carmelized strawberry, but equally beautiful." This basically meant her beautiful silky feathers were a deep red with a golden sheen. Her beak and talons were of couse a rich gold.4

She continued to suffocate me with her upset opera voice.5

"I'm sorry. I should have told you Neice and I were going into Nothingness. I know. Next time, I promise." Oli gave me a suspicious look and halting notes in what I'm sure meant something along the lines of "How can I be sure to trust you?"6

"Just trust me?" I asked eagerly. She gave the phoenix equivalant of a sigh and gave a defeated little song that I took to mean she was going to trust me. "That's my girl." She rolled her eyes and rubbed her face against my cheek. A few feet away Tarneice cleared her throat. "Not that I don't enjoy watching this... whatever it is, but I have to get to work and you're kinda in the way." I rolled my eyes. "Well it really brings me down to have to leave this joy fest, but I really don't want you to lose your job. At least one of us should be employed at a time." She gave me a symapathetic look and reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out a glowing charm. "Here's some Good Luck. I made it for you for your birthday, I guess this will be an even better time to give it to you."7

"Aww. Thanks! You didn't have to make me Good Luck. But I really appreciate it."8

"It was no big deal." I smiled again and accepted the Good Luck.9

"Now go on get out of here before you get me fired." Her grin cancelled out her words and I waved before strolling out, Oleiza sweeping out the back door ahead of me.
