America Would be Better Without Politicians (finished)

I once heard a quote from a US Gov't teacher. He said "Liars go to Washington, then they go to Hell." That's not a very promising outlook on our government. 1

Most people like to blame Bush for all of America's problems. He hasn't done the best job, but let's not forget that the Dems have their problems too. There's too much fingerpointing going on rather than trying to work out this country's problems. Obama's going to blast McCain, McCain is going to do the same to Obama. No one wants to say "Hey, we have to work together and see things from both angles and work a compromise." No, no it's got to be My way or the highway.2

Let's not forget that the media blows things out of proportion. My brother was a soldier in Iraq, and he lost his right leg to an IED explosion. People have spit at him, told him he deserved what he got and what a horrible person he is. Do you know what his mission was in Iraq? He was there to protect the civilians, and while his unit was there for a year and a half, three people, count them, three people died. Three. And that includes the one soldier from the unit that died in my brother's hummer.3

The media never tells you about the school's being built. They never tell you about the myriads of people who tell the soldiers "Thank you for being here." No. All we hear about is death, death, death. Do I like the fact that we are in Iraq? No. Do I think we should just pull everyone out right away? No. That would be unwise. You have to do these things slowly people. Learn a little military strategy. Oh and just a little sidenote:4

Viet Cong officials had said the Americans were winning the war when we pulled out. Media and no support from those at home caused us that loss. Think about that.5

Everyone wants to blame Bush for the rise in gas prices, and yet, it's the Dems that don't want to open up reserves that we have at home. We have enough stored to power us for quite awhile, plus reserves NOT in Alaska that we haven't even tapped into. Yes, gas has risen since Bush took office, but doubled since the Democrats took control of Congress.6

And they say that they want to lower your taxes. Hmm that's hard to believe when Nancy Pelosi complained about she wanted a bigger plane. What money pays for that? Our tax dollars. I mean seriously, she has learjet, which is more than a lot of us have, so she needs to take it and be happy.7

And I am so sick of both sides complaining that they aren't getting paid enough. That's just ridiculous. My dad makes less a year than my college tuition. When you have less money than I do, I'll listen to you.8

I'm tired of the gutless flip-flopping of the Democrats. Grow a spine, and stand by your decision for once in your life instead of saying "Oh well I didn't know" or "That's not what I meant." If you made a mistake say "I made a mistake. I'm human, and it happens." Oh and I especially love Obama's "I'll take the public funds if McCain does" and then McCain did, and what did Obama do? Decided to do private stuff instead. Seriously, if he can lie about something like this, what else can he lie about. What takes the cake for me is his comment "I've been to all 52 states" What the hell? Last I checked the USA only had 50.(Plus, I don't think anyone with no military experience should be president because that's part of the president's job is to command the military, and if you haven't been in it you don't really have a full understanding of how it works.)9

That's not to say that I think McCain would be the better choice. I don't like him either. He's too bull headed to compromise, just like every other politician in Washington. I wish they would come out and just say "Hey, we made a mistake" with Iraq. I honestly think that they believed there were WMDs and there is sufficient reason to believe that there were, I mean, I wouldn't put it past Saddam. Plus, they did find certain components to make them, they just weren't finished products. 10

However, we need to stay in Afghanistan and find Osama. He's gotta go down for what he did and continues to do.11

I think we need to go back to the way the Founding Fathers wanted the government to be. Back then people were elected based on their merits as a person, not how much money they could raise. Back then, they really were proud to be their own country, and wanted to do what was best for the people. Back then, the people's best interest was in mind. Now it's all about what the individual congressman wants. It's all about them and their money it seems. I know it's not true of everyone, but it's a growing trend.12

I honestly don't know who I'll vote for. Sure Obama knows how to make a good speech, but is he really going to make good on it? Great speeches are nice, but if you don't back it up with your actions then it's worthless. And he already has gone back on a few things. McCain is no better. America, to put it simply, is screwed either way.13

Whoever gets elected had sure as heck better make good on their promises. That's all I'm going to say. 14

I know you might not agree. I know you might think I'm uninformed and totally wrong, but this is my opinion and not yours. It's alright if you don't agree.

This is very interesting. I agree that it is a rant. But you share your opinions on both candidates very well. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I probably should have taken more time to explain things better...and not make it so rant like, teehee, but school makes it difficult sometimes. Thanks again for the comment!
