A Love Lost (A Vampire Story) Chapter 8- Gaining The Upperhand

Elizabeth’s POV1

Your heart stopped the moment he said the words, or well not in a literal sense. You didn’t want to believe it, yet deep down you felt it was true. You could feel the rage growing inside you, despite the shock that kept you motionless. 2

“It’s not true!” you scream suddenly to Kane, “He couldn’t have… he never would have…. how could you think…..”3

You continue spluttering unanswered questions to Kane as he remained unmoving, a statue with an unchanging evil grin and look in his red eyes. 4

The rage was still boiling in you, it was getting unbearable. You start tearing the furniture apart, turning the tables to splinters, making the chairs and sofa’s into mere scraps of cloth. 5

Kane didn’t look surprised, he knew your reaction would be fierce to this news. It was inevitable. You didn’t want to believe it was true, but if it was then your reaction was far less angry than it should be. If it wasn’t, well you would enjoying giving Kane the slight in convince of replacing the furniture for even thinking such a thing. You hoped more than anything for the second option. 6

At first, there WAS no doubt that Kane was lying, then once you thought about it more as you destroyed everything in sight, the reality sunk in. What other explanation was there? There were no other hints, no other leads. Suddenly the possibility of him killing himself was very real, only one question remained, well one main question that was surrounded by millions of others. Why? Was he not satisfied with you, did he really despise his life so much as to go and kill himself? Then you remembered what Kane had said. 7

‘He wasn’t murdered either, he tried to protect you, thinking if breaking any part of the legend, no matter how small it would sever the entire thing causing it to be destroyed and you to live your life in peace.’8

He had, for some reason thought he was protecting you in killing himself. You slowly began to calm, somewhat due to the fact there wasn’t anything left to destroy.9

You stand there breathing heavily, though there was no real need and pointed at Kane.10

“Explain.” you demand. 11

“The if you would please sit.” he looks at a chair behind you that two servants had just placed, right where the previous one had been. Well, it looked like destroying everything Kane owned in this room wasn’t going to put him at any in convince. 12

“Now I ask again, for no interruptions.” Kane tells you, in a commanding voice. Two could play at these games. Kane’s games may have taken a unexpected turn, but you were playing once again and you were going to win them.13

“Not likely.” 14

“Well then this will be rather difficult to explain to you.” 15

You don’t move a muscle from the chair and suddenly to break the silence that was killing you, you spit out again. “Explain.”16

“What needs explaining?” he ask, “Delano killed himself, your love wasn’t enough to keep him alive, to keep him with you forever.”17

“Not true.” you tell him. You were going to put his own words against him a weapon to help win the game. “You said we, Delano and I were part of the legend and that he killed himself to protected me from something, some part of that same legend.”18

You could tell it bothered Kane that you remembered these details, he was most likely expecting you to forget nearly everything once he told you the big secret. The thing you had been hunting for all these years. But, you DID remembered the details and now whatever Kane was planning on, whatever he expected your reaction to be wasn’t what he thought it was. 19

“Tell me the truth Kane!” you yell at him. This was the end of his games, the end of the lies. You lean in towards him, your face but an inch from his. “Don’t you dare lie to me anymore. Tell. Me. The. Truth. No more twisted stories.” 20

Kane’s POV21

She leans in toward you, her face but an inch from yours, you could smell her. The scent was… amazing you wanted nothing more for her to belong to you forever. You didn’t believe it was love, no you didn’t believe in love not since her. No, you knew you had become heartless not that you cared. You push the thoughts back as she speaks to you. 22

“Don’t you dare lie to me anymore. Tell. Me. The. Truth. No more twisted stories.”23

She was so irresistible when she was mad, but you had to turn the odds in your favor. She knew you had been lying, well about some things. It was the truth Delano killed himself, it was the truth that they were the two from the legend. So much more was true, but the real truth was you didn’t know everything. Centuries of looking into this hadn’t left you clueless though.24

“I did.” you say simply, grinning. 25

That ticked her off even more, she grabbed you by the collar of the shirt and lifted you up. You felt, probably like a little kid getting bullied by an older one, only Elizabeth didn’t scare you in the slightest. 26

She looked into your eyes and spoke softly. 27

“Don’t lie to me anymore Kane, I’ve lived too long with lies. I want the truth, and I want it NOW.” 28

She was very determined to say the least. You could tell she wasn’t going to back down, she wanted the real truth and there was no fooling her now.] so why not give her what she wanted. You had many other options in maker her yours anyway.29

You sigh and tell her, “Fine but you must put me down, it will be very hard to tell you the truth while being held up like a child being bullied.” 30

“I’ll tell you what’s hard or not, right now I have the upper hand and I’m not putting you in control again.”31

“Ahh but Elizabeth,” you felt her hand grip around your shirt tighten at her name “you don’t realize how overpowered you are, the truth is, yes you are stronger than I. But, you are out numbered many over a hundred.” 32

Even so you give in, it was so hard not to do what she wanted she reminded you so much of her. So you tell her the truth. 33
