Don't Answer The Door - Ch. 12

Eva just stared at Alex, waiting for him to say something.1

"That's why I didn't want to take my shirt off earlier, because I knew you would react this way." Alex said, tears welling in his eyes.2

"What is wrong with your back Alex?" Eva said, trying to hide the disgust from her voice.3

Alex walked to the door, and placed his hand on the light switch. He didn't want to turn the light on because he was afraid. He took a deep sigh and flicked the switch on. Alex slowly turned his back to Eva and he heard her gasp. 4

"Oh, God, Oh Alex, what is that from?!" Eva asked.5

When Alex turned around he was surprised to see tears running down Eva's cheeks.6

"Why are you crying?" Asked Alex.7

"I just, I, I..." Eva couldn't get her words out as she began to sob.8

"Eva it's okay, Please don't cry. I'm over it, really." Alex said, trying to comfort Eva.9

Eva put her hands on Alex's shoulder and turned Alex around to take a look at his back. She was amazed at what she saw. The burns covered his entire back. There was not an inch of perfect skin anywhere. Eva was amazed that there were no other burns on his body, only on his back.10

"How did this happen?! When did this happen?" Eva asked,  concerned, worried, courious all at the same time.11

"It is a tangible consequence of a horrific accident." Alex said, wanting to continue, but couldn't find the right words to do so.12

"Wearing a shirt could only obscure the scars for so long." Alex said, as he decided to continue.13

"You were bound to find out sooner or later." He said, looking down at his bare feet.14

Eva didn't know what to say. She suddenly moved her arms around Alex, hugging him.15

"I'm so sorry you had to go through that." She said, tears still coming down her face.16

"Would you m ind if I asked HOW it happened?" She asked hesitantly.17

Alex nodded his head 'No' as he took Eva's hand and led her to the bed to sit down.18

"Well, it was when I was younger. Uhm.. My uncle, he tried to..." Alex paused to clear his throat and to wipe away tears that were forming in his eyes.19

"My uncle tried to kill my father and I, while we were sleeping. He burned the house down. I didn't get out in time to not get injured, but I did get out in time to save my life. My uncle, as stupid as he is, ended up burning his entire face. No surgery was ever able to return him to looking like he used to. He always ended up wearing a mask." Alex said. He stopped right there about his uncle's face. 20

"What happened to your father?" Eva asked.21

"Well, my uncle thought he was sleeping, but he was out somewhere. I never did know where he was at such a late hour in the night."22

"So.. your UNCLE did this to you?!" Eva asked angrily.23

"Yeah.." Alex sighed. 24

Alex sighed again, louder this time as he hunched his shoulders over. He looked down, letting his head hang. He looked as if he was dead. Eva sighed, wiping her own tears away as she looked at Alex. She felt so awful for him, she couldn't help but cry some more. She thought she had it bad when she was younger, but he had it worse, at least that's what she thought. Being raped is awful, and it still hurt to remember her dad would do something like that to her, but to have your uncle try to KILL you by burning you, and ending up scaring you for life, that's a whole different story.25

"Well, what did your dad do?! Did your uncle get away?!" Eva asked, wanting justice for Alex. 26

"Nothing happened to my uncle. I haven't talked to him in a while..." Alex drifted back into his own world.27

Eva was really confused, and tried to make sense of everything Alex had just said. She hugged Alex and kissed his forehead.28

"There is a lot more that you will hear me tell you Eva... just not all at once. Not today." Alex said, and he threw himself in the bed.29

Alex got under the covers again and he looked at Eva waiting to see if she will come back into bed with him, or if she was disgusted with him. She did after all touch the scars that felt rough and dry, and even bumpy. It felt like a snake's skin, after all he'd touched them more than once in his life. Every time he had done that, he'd get disgusted with himself, and he would end up crying.30

Eva looked at Alex and they held eye contact for a while. She suddenly cracked a smile. Alex smiled back at her when he saw her walking to bed. He lifted up the cover and watched Eve get in. He liked her a lot, and he wanted to let her know he did. He turned to his side and supported his head with his hand.31

"Eva, I have to tell you something else..." Alex said, feeling nervous.32

Eva turned to her side and looked into Alex's green eyes. She saw the reflection of the moon in them. She stared into his eyes as she waited for him to tell her whatever it is he wanted to tell her.33

"Yes Alex?" Eva asked.34

Eva felt giddy that Alex was sharing all of this with her. He shared a bit of his family history with her, and now he has something more to tell her. She wondered what it could be. 35

"I really like you." Alex said, his hand touching Eva's arm. He wasted no time telling her his feelings.36

Alex looked at Eva, waiting for a reply. It was taking a while and nothing was being said.37

"Wow, Alex! I like you too!" Eva said, extremely happy with what she had going for her.38

Alex ran his hand down Eva's arm and onto her waist as he looked deep into her eyes. Eva wrapped her arms around Alex's neck. She didn't let Alex's back stop her. 39

Eva brought her head up to Alex's as he brought his head lower to hers. Their lips met and locked as they embraced each other. Alex kissed Eva's lips as he moved over her. Eva could see Alex's head above hers as she wrapped herself into him.40

Alex went to remove Eva's bra. He began to kiss her neck. Eva's skin tingled at the touch of Alex's lips on her body. She never had that done before, not willingly. All Eva did was have a smile on her face as she stared into the silver moon.41
