The Unknown

The coppery smell was strong and instantly hit his sensitive smell, pulling him forth into the dark woods. Blood wasn’t the only smell in these woods, there was water too, mineral water. He knew the scent easily because everywhere else there was purified water; here it was full of its natural minerals. Glancing over his keen eyes caught sight of a shadow under a rock and the smell emanating from the cave-like opening overpowered him, he knew instantly that this was the place. Without caution he looked inside, the sound of something unknown gave warning that the dark hollow opening, was indeed, not empty.
