Chapter 2: Strange Encounters2

Sky entered the huge Auditorium, his arm still held by AJ's firm grip. Some part of him wanted AJ to let go, while the other part felt nice. The Auditorium was large. It had over four thousand chairs, covered in red velvet and the frame was made by gold-plated metal. The school must have obviously have a large amount of funds because it was generoulsy festooned with red and gold.3

Sky gazed at the beauty of the place, not noticing that AJ had found seats for them. AJ poked Sky lightly telling him to sit down. Sky obeyed and looked over to the girl sitting next to him.4

"Hello..." She spoke in a low-pitched voice, "Welcome to Asam. You must be new" 5

"Hi..." He replied, somewhat enchanted by her beauty, "I'm....um...Sky. Y-You?"6

"I'm Celina." She replied in a seductive voice, "I'm a nymph. You must be an elf."7

Sky simply nodded not noticing that his jaw was beginning to drop. Celina was truly an embodiment of beauty. She had long fiery red hair and shiny green eyes. She carefully took her hair in her hands and placed them on one shoulder. 8

"You're really going to like it here," She spoke with a smile, and noticed the guy sitting next to him, "And you are?"9

AJ looked over at the girl beside Sky and instantly did a double take. She was so beautiful! She had to be a figment of his imagination...well then how could Sky see him? Whatever she was, she was just too beautiful to be real!10

"I-I-I'm AJ." He answered quickly.11

"Hey, Celina, stop using your seduction will ya? I'm afraid Mermaid Boy over here is gonna drool on me." A vaguely familiar voice growled12

"Hi, AJ. It's nice to meet you." She replied.13

AJ turned around and jumped when he saw Mila, the witch girl from earlier, sitting right beside him, her skull still in hand.14

"It's you!" He shouted.15

"YOU has a name, AJ." Mila said haughtily. "Anyways, will you drop it, Celine? I don't want to be sitting in a puddle 'o' drool while these guys oggle you." She rolled her eyes.16

Celina giggled, "Alright, I'll stop."17

Sky suddenly felt his head spin and then it hurt a little. 18

"Ow…" He winced and looked up at Celina, "That's really strong stuff."19

"Of course it is" She replied with arrogance, "I've been here for a year now. This is one of the things I'm best at."20

Sky raised his eyebrow and looked down again. He really wanted this thing to be over with so he could go to his room and sleep.21

AJ shook his head, making his hair flip side to side. He looked up at Celina and blinked.22

"You did that? How?" He asked.23

"She's a nymph and as so she has abilities to seduce. Isn't that right, Celina?" Mila growled.24

“That’s true,” She replied sternly, “Each creature has their own special trait. Mila’s a witch. So she’s basically dealing with Dark Magic. You on the other hand, Sky, are an Elf. So you’ll be dealing with Light Magic. You’re a mermaid, AJ?”25

"I do NOT deal with Dark Magic!" Mila barked, threatening to throw the skull at Celina's head.26

"Yeah she doesn't deal with any magic!" A guy chortled from behind.27

Pint-sized Mila growled and stood up in her chair and looked back at everyone.28

"Which one of you a-holes said that!" She hissed.29

"Er...is she always like this?" AJ asked Celina.30

Celina nodded gracefully.31

“Yes, she is. But we love her anyway,” She giggled, “So you two just became friends or have you two known each other from before. The way you barged in with hands entwined, I figured you two were married.”32

Sky blushed blood-red. He felt his cheeks begin to heat up.33

“Um…our hands weren’t entwined. He just grabbed my arm and dragged me here” Sky replied.34

“Right, my bad” Celina replied, “It still looked pretty cute.”35

AJ blushed and he looked over at Sky to see him blushing as well. He couldn't help but observe how cute Sky looked when his cheeks were all lit up. He looked so...innocent. He was almost too distracted by Sky and Celina to notice Mila chucking the skull at someone and jumping back into the crowd behind him.36

A few girlish screams, a string of obscenities from her, and a guy yelping was what it took before AJ turned around to see Mila. She was sitting on some pale, handsome guy's lap wailing on him.37

AJ sighed.38

"This year is gonna be 'interesting'...isn't it?" He turned to Celina for an answer.39

"Yes, it most certainly will..." She replied coldly, "Now if you'll excuse me, I must attend to the Principal."40

Without a moments' pause, she rushed off, her red hair flowing behind her. Sky simply stared her, in awe and confusion.41

"What a weird girl, huh?" Sky asked, "One minute, she's friendly. The other she's a bi-, umm...I mean, she's not friendly...sorry."42

"She's...odd..." AJ admitted. He looked around the auditorium and whistled lowly. "I had no idea Uncle James spent this much money on the place." He grumbled.43

Sky pouted like he usually did when he was confused. 44

"Your uncle? He donated funds for this place or something?" He asked.45

"He donated the building to the school. I'm a third generation here. My grandparents came here, their kids came here, and now I'm here." AJ smiled sheepishly.46

Sky smiled and nodded. He looked at the stage and noticed Ms. Allura head towards the mic-stand. The chatter stopped. Mila immediately returned to her seat and everyone’s attention was now in Ms. Allura. She smiled at everyone and began her little speech.47

“Good Morning, students, I welcome you all to a new year to ASAM. Allura’s School of Arts and Magic” She spoke with enthusiasm at it’s peak, “All you all know, ASAM was founded…”48

The orientation began and they showed different videos and pictures of students in the past and gave a whole presentation about the whole school. Sky nodded along the whole thing and noticed AJ had almost drifted off into little slumber. Sky smiled and shook his head.49

After what seemed like an hour, the orientation came to a close and all the new students were told to head out towards their dormitories and rooms. Students and teachers were standing everywhere incase we lost our way. 50

Sky stared at his piece of paper as he looked for the December Dorms. AJ tried to keep with him, but Sky paid no attention. He was too busy lost in thought. 51

His eyes fixed on the piece of paper he didn’t notice a group of guys standing in front of him, and he crashed into one of them. 52

“…What the…oh look…It’s that fag.” The boy remarked, “You were with the other blondie weren’t you?”53

He grabbed Sky’s arm and pulled him forward, “Well, you’re a really pretty little thing. I won’t be surprised if they told me you were a girl.”54

Sky didn't say anything, just tried helplessly to get out of the boy's grip. But it was too tight, Sky was far too weak to break free.55

AJ spun around and saw a boy, an extremely furry boy, manhandling Sky. He heard a few choice words and followed by "fag". AJ instantly tensed up and exhaled a sharp breath from his nose and stalked over to the boy.56

"Hey, lay off!" He shouted, jerking Sky away from him.57

"Aww the butch wants his bitch back." Another boy, who appeared to be a half 58

boy half goat looking creature, laughed.59

"Piss off!" AJ shouted, pushing the faun in the chest.60

"Ooooooh, gonna throw a tissy, fag?" The first boy snickered.61

"Who you callin' a bitch?" He shouted, not sure we he got the voice, "Do I look like your moma?"62

Noticing the look on the other guys face, Sky realized he made a huge mistake. He took a step back.63

The boys stared at Sky, unaware of what had just happened. 64

"What did you just say?" the first boy asked with a death glare in his eyes. 65

"Look, I caused...no trouble...okay? So...leave me alone." Sky replied, his body shivering with nerve.66

AJ growled and went to lunge at the boy, but was caught by the back of his shirt.67

"What is the meaning of this?" A woman's voice shouted.68

AJ turned around and found himself face-to-face Miss Allura herself.69

Sky gulped and looked up at Ms. Allura. 70

"Ma'am, it's not his fault" Sky tried to speak, "It was..."71

"Shhh." She spoke loudily, "It's only the first day, and you're involved with such acts of violence. Let me tell you that they are not tolerated. To the office, AJ Thomas."72

"As for the rest of you" She yelled at the other boys, "If I see you disturbing the new students? It's explusion! You hear me!?"73

Without waiting for anyone to say anything, she dragged AJ by the collar and lead him to the office.74

"Nice job, Sky" The other boy said sarcastically and shoved right past him.75

Sky let out a small "ow" and walked behind Miss Allura to the office.76

AJ was led to the office by Ms. Allura and forced into her office. She slammed the door in Sky's face before he could even enter and continued to drag AJ over to a chair in front of her grand desk.77

"Take a seat, Mister Thomas." Ms. Allura hissed, pushing him into the seat. She strut around her desk and over to her chair. "Mister Thomas, acts of violence are not tolerated in this school, even if you ARE a third generation student! Just because your family has ties with this foundation does not mean you can get away with this!"78

"B-but Ms. Allura! Those boys started it! They grabbed Sky and I merely intervened before they could pummel him to pieces!" AJ interjected.79

Ms. Allura stared before getting up and waltzing over to her door. She opened up the door and grabbed Sky, dragging him inside as well. She led him over to her desk and told him to stand while she sat back down.80

"Now...Sky, is it true those boys started it?" She asked.81

Sky didn't say anything at first. He simply stayed quiet, ashamed as he was. 82

"I'm really sorry Ms. Allura. AJ did nothing. He was only trying to help me" He finally spoke, "The boys were trying to get physical and AJ just came to stop them."83

Miss. Allura fixed her glasses on the bridge of her nose. She studied Sky closely, wondering if he was telling the truth or not. There was no telling with teenage kids. They had these special codes like kindergarteners to never "taddle-tale".84

She finally sighed and spoke, "Alright, I'll let you both go this time, but I'm warning you. If I catch you both going at it again. It's suspension."85

Sky nodded and walked out, AJ walking slowly behind him.86

As soon as AJ and Sky left Ms. Allura's office they both let out sighs of relief and relaxed. AJ reached up and rubbed the back of his neck while looking at Sky.87

"So...did they hurt you?" He asked.88

“Nah, I’m good” Sky replied, rubbing his arm where the boy had grabbed him, “Why’d you stick up for me? I mean, you hardly know me.”89

AJ blushed. He wanted to say, "Its because I actually kinda like you" but he didn't want to scare Sky away. So he settled for something simpler and not as creepy.90

"Because you're my friend." He shrugged.91

Sky smiled and laughed a little. 92

"Did you see how I suddenly shouted at him? "DO I LOOK YO MOMMA?" Sky laughed harder for the first time, not caring whether his ears were showing or not. 93

He looked at AJ, who was only laughing a little.94

"Thanks AJ, " Sky grinned, "You're great."95

AJ smiled brightly.96

"Haha I KNOW I'm great, but if I'm great, you, mi amigo, are epic." He lightly nudged Sky in the side.97

He grabbed his side and let out a small, "oomf". He looked back and tried to push AJ back, but no avail. He was way to tiny. He laughed at himself.98

"Thanks," he replied to AJ's comment, "But shouldn't we go find our rooms now? I'm really tired and I want to sleep."99

Sky yawned, trying his best to control it.100

"Yeah, sure sure." AJ chuckled. "Mila told me the December Dorms are this way." He took Sky's hand, not caring what anyone thought.101

AJ managed to lead both him and Sky to the December Dorms and they both looked at their papers to only find out...102

"Awww man! We don't share a dorm!" AJ whined.103

"...Oh." Sky looked down at his paper to make sure, "I guess you're right."104

He bit his lip genlty, trying hard to hide his disappointment. 105

"I guess I'll see you later, then" Sky replied, "I guess my room is the one over there."106

"Alright, I'm kinda close." AJ pointed to the door he stood in front of. "I'm right here. Oh well...I'll check you later, Sky."107

He waved to Sky and opened up the door to his room. He peeked inside and saw a pale boy sitting on his bed, his legs casually crossed and a book in his lap. The boy looked up, flashing AJ a grin to reveal pointed canines.108

A vampire...109

"Ah! You must be the new roommate, eh? My name is Haillen! And you are, AJ, correct?" The vampire boy spoke as if he were from the early 1800s.110

"Yeah." AJ smiled.111

"So nice to meet you!" Haillen beamed.112

"Same to you..." AJ smiled sheepishly.113

An elf for a best friend, a witch and a nymph, and now a vampire? This was definitely going to be a strange year.
