Kelly scolded as she scrubbed the plates at hand. With the remainder of the bubbly soap gone and down the drain, she stacked the silverware one on top of another. When she was done with all this, her arms were sore, her fingers wasted, her cheeks beeted red, and sweat dripping off her forehead. Running a hand through her messy, unbrushed dark burnette hair, Kelly sighed.1

Nope, this wasn't the first time she had to do something like this today. Ever since Rachel Stroul finally got accepted into Yale and quited this hell-hole, everything from serving the tables to bus-boy duties were given to Kelly. It was a LOT of work, by hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. And if it wasn't for that one heck of a messed up manager, Brendon, things should of been much better.2

"KELLY!"3

Ugh, speak of the devil.4

"What?" Kelly called back, poking her head out of the smokey kitchen. 5

Brendon Malone came walking through the parted doors. Wearing a brand new tux, his black hair was slicked back with a gallon of gel, and brand new Italian shoes hugged his feet. Yeah, that man was rich all right. But yet, somehow not rich enough to fix up this trash. Cheap asshole.6

A sly smile spread across his face when he saw me. "Kelly, we're a tad short on waitresses today, so I'm going to need you to cover for Gina and Amanda. I hope that won't be a problem for you, darling."7

It got me sick when he used gay terms like: "Darling", or "Sweetie, and the occasinal, "Honey". But anyway.....8

I parted my lips to protest. "But, how am I going to-"9

"Good! I expect you to be out there in five minutes." Brendon grinned harder. Then, glancing behind me at the piles of half cleaned dishes, he frowned. "Still working on that, I see?" He sighed. "Oh well. We can't all be that quick."10

My mouth dropped. "What's that suppose to mea-"11

"Nuh-uh-uh!" Brendon thrusted his index finger in front of me. "Not a word! Back to work! I'm not paying you to just stand around!"12

I bit my tougne from speaking out. Taking three sharp breaths, I swirvled on my heel and tossed the yellow rubber gloves into the sink.
