Just like Alexis and Jane, I've never been exactly trusting either of the people I know either. Why? Because the people closest to you are the ones who are most likely to betray you in your time of need. So I turn to strangers because they know nothing about you, and therefore can't hurt you as much...at least not emotionally. People can only hurt if you let them too far in.1

I met Justin about a year ago on the Internet, just like Jane did, except Justin didn't rape me like Daniel Rays did Jane or drug me like Keith did to Alexis (I know this from reading the papers and from hearing about it online). Instead, he told me he was a gang banger and then shot me, right in my back. I can't walk now, you know. I envy people who can use their legs and feet. I can't do that, not anymore anyway.2

All of this from the inability to trust those around me....makes me wish that I did have more trust for people. I'll be learning that when Alexis and Jane come next week.

What can I do to make this work?
