A Change of Pace

A Change of Pace1

Have you ever had one of those moments where you feel like you were finally complete? Like everything in the world could stop for that moment, but you knew you had everything you could possibly ask for?2

I have, and it was a gift to me in the form of a young woman. Her name is Staci.3

I had known her all of my life. Her mother used to babysit me, as mine babysat her when we were kids. Once we started elementary school we drifted apart, for almost twelve years. 4

Then, my senior year of high school came. I remember climbing on the bus with nervousness spread throughout my entire body. I sat down and planted myself, eying the crowd. One girl caught my eye. She was so vibrant, so beautiful, and so full of life.5

After gathering the courage, I asked her if I could call her. Unbeknownst to me, she had feelings for me. We talked and spent time together, until I finally asked her to be mine. She gladly accepted.6

She makes my darkest times brighten, my most horrible of nightmares disappear, and my most brightest of moments even brighter.7

She never has rejected me for any of my flaws and she accepts me for the wreck that I am. She unlocked so many feelings that I never knew I had. She has shown me compassion, romance, and most of all, love.8

I want her in my life, and I am needing her more every day. I have given her my all, even throughout her stepfather passing, as she has returned the favor through my every day misery.9

She always welcomes me with open arms, and a smile. And even though we have our differences, she is always in my arms at the end of the night, because she says there is nowhere else she would rather be.10

It's a nice change of pace from how things used to be.11

So I want to say thank you baby. Thank you for holding me up when I stumble, and being the foundation beneath my feet. Thank you for accepting me for who I am. And most importantly, thank you for loving me.12

Yours forever more,13
