1. Morning smiles. There's nothing more honest than waking up enveloped and content.1
2. Creativity. This one might seem self-centered for the whole enjoyment factor, but it's an activity that can physically and emotionally benefit you and those around you.2
3. The smell of the earth...you know, that wafting of nitrogen seeping up from the ground after it rains. I know I sound like either a pregnant woman here, or an old hippy, but it's the truth.3
4. The fact that we're all so insignificant, and yet so resilient in our bodies and hearts.4
5. My family and friends. They've not just played the part of support system, but put heart and soul in to it. I will probably die trying to reciprocate that.5
6. Coffee, tea, and other things consumed sitting in the kitchen across from someone you adore as you're making faces at each other in attempts to clear your head from that dream-like fog.6
7. Listening. Not just, you know, like, talking and whatever...but really letting someone's consciousness spill over you with understanding and patience.7
8. That time of day where everything is silhouetted in the darkest tones against a gradient of sky.8
9. Being able to be expressive. Not everyone has the opportunity, and as someone who does, I feel fortunate.9
10. The opportunity to respond and participate in discussions like these that make you reflect and find a semblance of self.
Author notes
My top reason for not living? Germs and hate, but I guess we're made stronger for both. Turns out I'm not very pessimistic.

These reasons inspired me. I'm so glad you posted this, and this story really spoke out to me... especially the part where you talked about the scent after it rained. That brought my senses to life :]

This was really good.
I like a lot of your reasons and can relate to them easily.

2. *so* not self-centred. Everyone should have some sort of creative outlet, otherwise they’ll implode.
3. Ohh, yes. It’s also best when the sky’s not completely clear and it’s kinda cool, and the water’s stained everything. It looks so rich, too… never knew the smell was nitrogen, though.
8. I biked home during that time Tuesday, listening to Swedish soft-rock. It was like… ^__________^ …
if that makes sense.
9. Kind of fits in with #2 a bit, just heavier, I think. Especially as far as societal requirements and responses, and self worth, or something. There’s something irritatingly death-like about not being able to get words from your mind to outside.
