Intricately Intertwined (4)

"Every thing's just fine honey. He'll explain everything. I promise." My mother patted my hair and kissed my forehead as we sat on our couch in our living room. This was not the first time she had said this. In fact it was the third.1

"What the hell are you talking about?" I finally shouted. "Who is this he you keep talking about?"2

She pursed her lips and her eyebrows creased. "I...can't...tell...you." she said, as if it was almost causing her pain. "It's not my place. It's his."3

"Who is this person?!" I shouted, but Caleb called my name from his place by the window, where he stood watching out the curtains.4

"Don't make it harder for you mother than it already is. You'll know in a minute. Just be patient. It's not our place to tell you anything about what's going on. You weren't suppose to know yet." he said calmly.5

"What is this? Like some weird surprise party or something? Because if so, it is so not funny and I am not surprised in a good way. At least where's the cake?" I demanded, folding my arms across my chest.6

Caleb laughed. "Sorry Anna, no cake." Suddenly his head flicked to the front door before it opened two seconds later.7

In rushed in a man. He had brilliant pale skin and furious black eyes. His hair was like dark colored chocolate and his height was quite tall. He was painfully beautiful, it hurt to look at him. Even though his face was twisted with fury, he was absolutely perfect.8

I knew this man.9

This was the man that was in my dreams every night. The man who pledged his love to me and I the same. The man who promised he'd see me soon. To see me outside of my dreams. But that was just dream's, right? The fantasy men in your dream's don't come true. At least their not suppose to. Maybe I passed out a while ago. Yeah, and now I'm just dreaming again. So technically he's still my normal dream guy, just in a completely different situation. And his face has never looked this angry. It's always been calm and gently. His eyes soft, like a butter cream color, but now they were dark. Black. He looked vicious. I was scared of my always gentle dream man, now leaning back against my mother.10

"Did you get him?" Caleb asked immediately, nearly bouncing out of his skin with excitement.11

Dream boy suddenly eased up and shook his head slightly, his eyes going back to my familiar butter cream. He sighed and ran his long slender fingers through his dark shaggy hair, it almost broke my heart.12

"Unfortunately, no. He took to the sewers on the west side of town. Reedrek's turf. I didn't want to intrude and cause a scene. This is between me and Nolan. No reason to start a war...yet." his jaw clenched with an audible snap at the mention of the beautiful boy's name.13

I stood in awestruck at the sound of his voice. It was so gentle yet stern. A deep richness, like black velvet. Shivers ran down my spine.14

His head turned to me with a gentle smile and he gracefully strode to the carpet in front of me before bending down on one knee. His touch was cold as he took my hand in his. I stopped breathing. He cracked a smirk.15

"I had no idea I would have this much of an effect on you after all this time." He raised his eyebrows in amusement. "Breath Anna. We see each other every night." he said calmly. "Now is no different."16

Air forced it's way into my lungs and I tried to form words but nothing came out. My vocal chords were frozen together.17

"That's okay. I can hear you just fine. You don't have to speak." His hand reached up and moved the hair that fell loose from my ponytail back behind my ear. "Take your time."18

What? That doesn't make sense. He can hear me just fine? What's that suppose to mean? He can like, read my mind?19

"Yes." he answered simply.20

I jumped and a gasp escaped my lips. What? No. No, he's lying. He's just a good guesser that's all. What am I thinking? He's not even real. I'm dreaming right now. I passed out a long time ago.21

He laughed out loud and the sound made me jump once more. "I assure you, you aren't dreaming. Would I lie to you?"22

No. No, my dream boy would never lie to me. Fine, I'll think of a number and see if he guesses it.23

"4,785." he chuckled.24

I gasped again, this time my hand coming up to cover my mouth. This is unbelievable.25

He looked over at my mom with worried eyes. "Do mind if we discuss this alone, Jeannette?"26

My mother looked at me, then nodded her head. "Of course." She quickly left to the kitchen. How dare he just kick my mom out like that. Who does he think he is?27

He then looked at Caleb who was standing, watching my face. "Caleb, go tell your father what happened please. He'll want to know."28

"But I don't think Anna-" he began.29

"I will take care of her from here thank you. You did very good today. I hate to imagine what he would have done to her, had you not been there. I'm in your debt."30

Caleb rocked back on his heels, his hands in his pockets. "Well you could buy me dinner later."31

My dream boy smiled with a nod. "Very well then. Tell your father to order a meeting tonight. We have much to discuss."32

Caleb nodded obediently and walked out with a caring glance to me. That boy will do just about anything for food. Stupid pig.33

Dream boy laughed. "Yes, I suppose his kind does eat quite a bit."34

His kind? What's that suppose to mean? His kind. What, big?35

"We'll get to that later. Now, are you hurt? Did Nolan harm you?" he asked, more urgent now.36

Nolan? Ah, the cute boy that asked to go with him.37

"You think him cute?" he asked, his face twisted in agony. I almost fell apart at how sad it looked. How much pain it caused my own heart. He sighed. "No matter." Hi fingers skillfully turned each of my wrist, then he reached up and tilted my head ever so slightly, exposing my neck. "Very good then." He smiled a heartbreaking smile that stopped my breathing once again. "I think we should talk about some things, yes? I'm sure your very confused at the moment." When I didn't answer in either voice or mind he sighed, rubbing his pale hands together. "Alright, well for starters, my name is Gavin."

Another exceptional chapter - well done. Your dialogue was great and I think I'm going to have a hard time choosing who I like better - Gavin or Nolan! Anyways fantastic job.
