The Love Story - Chapter Seven

~Chapter Seven~1

“Wow that’s an awesome photo.” Alex exclaimed. I smiled, holding a picture of Cliff that I found in my drawer last night. His dark brown hair was spiked at a slightly odd angle; he was smiling crookedly and had his hand, resting on his head. All in all, a very cute photo. I guess I never really noticed how cute he was until now. 2

“He’s perfect!” I stated. She smiled, pulled her wallet out of her bag and flashed a small picture of Ben. 3

“So is Benny. Talk about perfect!” I didn’t exactly agree, but I couldn’t say that could I? Just coz I think her boyfriend looks like a Ken doll, doesn’t mean he isn’t gorgeous. In her eyes anyway. I smiled and nodded.  4

“Do you think we have the best guys in the grade? In the school? In the whole world?” I yelled. She laughed.5

“For sure.” 6

We were slowly making our way to our first class. Suddenly someone slipped their arms around my waist. I spun around.7

“Hey Beautiful.” Cliff smiled cheekily. I blushed.8

“Hey there. Have you seen my favourite picture?” I asked, smiling and showing him the gorgeous photo of him. Now it was his turn to blush, which he did, a deep crimson. 9

“Where did you find that?” He asked, totally embarrassed.10

“In my drawer, last night, isn’t it gorgeous!?” I asked, grinning. He shook his head quickly. 11

“I…” I started, but before I could finish, he touched my face, pulled me towards him and kissed me. I still got the amazing rush I did the first time we kissed. It was like magic. Before I knew it, we were alone in the corridor, just holding each other. 12

“Shit, I better get to class.” He said. “I love you.”13

“Love you too.” I answered, watching him walk down the corridor, taking small steps with his short legs, turning around one last time. I sighed and walked to my class. 14

My mind was with Cliff all through my classes. I couldn’t pay attention at all. Even when Leah Trinket fainted, and knocked over Mrs Davidson, people had to tell me what had happened afterwards, my mind wasn’t there. I was so excited when I left the classroom, knowing only minutes separated me from seeing Cliff!15

“Oh my god.” Cliff greeted me with. I looked around worriedly. 16

“What is it? What’s wrong?” I was stressing so much. I thought he wanted to break up with me!17

“You’re more beautiful than last time I saw you!” He broke into a smile and slipped his hands around my waist. I laughed, placed my arms around his neck and hugged him. 18

“Mel! Melanie! MELANIE!” Alex was yelling too me from about ten metres away. I slid my arms off from around Cliff’s neck. He looked at me, smiled and let go of me. I smiled.19

“Yeah?” I asked Alex. She looked around in desperation. 20

“You have to help me.” She stated. I nodded. “I think I…I think I like someone else. Not Benny. And it’s, I don’t know, its confusing me.” 21

“Who is it?” I asked. It better not be Cliff!22

“James. I know this sounds strange, but he told me something…” She said. Wait a minute! James? 23

“Wait a minute! James?” I asked. “What did he say?”24

“He said he’s always loved me a little bit, and now its more. And he would break up with Katie for me…” 25

“What? He’s lying to you. He is trying to get back at me. It’s bullshit.” I told her.26

“Wait, so someone liking me is bullshit? Maybe your just jealous coz he doesn’t care about you anymore!” She snapped viciously. I couldn’t believe this.27

“No it’s not like that. It’s true…” I tried to say. She shook her head.28

“Save it. I don’t want to hear it. I thought you were my best friend!” She looked at me once more, angrily and stormed off. I just looked after her. Watching my best friend, falling in love with my ex-boyfriend. Since when does telling the truth screw things up so much?29
