My eyes stared at the screen in a deadpan expression at the mere title of the contest:3
Your Reasons to Live.4
I hadn't thought it over, my life, really. I had made mental notes of what I wanted to do in my future, mottoes to help me get through the hard times, but I've never really thought over what pushed me to continue this path.5
What made me strong? 6
I immediately clicked the link, scanned through the requirements - hesitated for a moment as the thoughts poured in and nerves poured out - and begun my work by noting down the obvious first (in no particular order, I made sure of this so my crazy mind wouldn't change later, this was serious business).7
1) Family - Well, unlike many unfortunate teens in the world today, I actually love my parents, as well as my sister who happens to feel the same way too (despite the middle fingers and the continual beating me up after bedtime). Although I have a miserable father who I swear sometimes that I think I really do HATE him, other times he makes me laugh, and he really cares for me and ensures that I turn out to be a good child. Mother, well, mother's as motherly as can be, and although I don't know what exactly the unique spark about her is (apart from giving birth to a child (me) who was born foot-first and probably mentally incapable...), she has a natural charm that I just love and she takes care of me. These people are my family, and trust me, with more than 13 uncles and 3 aunts, there's a lot of love going around here, and I can't afford to leave that behind.8
2) Friends - I could just say these people are my friends - trust me, understand me, we love hanging out together, it's not easy for me to get em - I gotta appreciate them. They make my life so much easier, they fill me with all the love I need and we get along. Honestly, I feel that I have little friends, the ones in real life are more like 'associates' or people I can talk to, but I appreciate them anyway, I can't take things for granted, especially not people who help make my life better and I can help make theirs better too (Haha, some of you guys may be cringing if you're reading this if you catch my drift!)9
3) Writing - Writing, apart from drawing, is my life. I love it, and I definitely want to become published in the future, maybe even have my story turn into a movie - or anime! Ha! I love writing and really, I don't see what else that I can do than write and draw, they're my life. I want to make sure that if I may die before being published, that people will see my stories and try and continue them. I live to express my thoughts through words! With writing, I am God! Why would I leave that kind of power behind?!10
4) Drawing - Drawing; my love, my emotions, my creativity, my life. Drawing is such a beautiful escape for me when I'm experiencing writer's block, and it's a great way for me to capture my imagination for the world to see clearly. I live for the things I love, and drawing is a specialty. I might plan on becoming an cartoonist in the future, I don't know. But whatever career I pursue, I want it to revolve around the writing or drawing arts.11
5) Love - Ok, I may not be a romantic person, but I'm the one who wants to grow up old and lonely with 35 cats (ok, maybe 2 - just kidding!). I want to fall in love, and I want to be fallen in love with (ahem, same person!). I want to be in love with someone who loves me and the things I do and love! I just want to live for that beautiful, long term romance and enjoy life with someone who shares my affections.12
6) Traveling - For a girl who's afraid of airplanes and ships, I actually want to travel. I want to discover the world in 3D, dive in the waters of the great deep, explore the jungles and paradise of all God's wonders. I want to see people for the way they are, not the way the TV, magazines and internet perceive to be. God put me on this world, what am I doing on this little island? There's miles of wonder and amazement for me to uncover! So much beauty to live and enjoy! (Man, I sound annoyingly hyper...)13
7) My Purpose - Okay, I'll try to make this within your 25 words limit, cause this would be so much easier said in fewer words. Anyways, I don't believe I was sent here to live crappy and just die. I believe there's more out there for me to do, discover, set free, change. I believe there's a purpose out there for me and I'll pursue it, with whatever it takes.14
8) Knowledge - I know I've screamed this enough in some of the sections before, but I want to discover the world. I want to learn things that mankind has blindly ignored when it has been right under their noses! I want to see, and open my heart to life! Although I may be a wee idiotic and dare-say 'blond', I want to learn. Even math [shudders]. I want to become like, almost Soloman! Yeah right, well, I can go there, if I just try. Who knows? There's a lot out there we can learn, a lot of things that can we change, and that can change us.15
9) Happiness - Well, who doesn't want happiness? People who commit suicide should actually think of what they're leaving behind. There IS happiness! Why do we turn our eyes away from the truth? We can make ourselves happy in the matter of seconds! I have learned this personally by reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes. I want to live to be happy 90% of my life! Maybe 100%! Trust me, just try! I love being happy! So why not try?16
10) Life - Obviously, this is almost like saying random things, but deeper than that. Life is a big bag of opportunities, happiness, love, all we gotta do is reach in and believe! Life is full of so many joyous things I don't know why I would give it up! Everything, every little thing, so beautiful, so seemingly insignificant benefits me in a way I can't even imagine! If I die, I have no more chances to get anything back (unless you believe in reincarnation, I do, but I believe in a limit of number of times you can get a free chance at life). In the afterlife, it's judgment time, and if you wasted life doing crap then you're in tough luck. Why do you think I got this life? I'm going to make the most of it! Use every second, use every person, use every single opportunity I have to better myself, and better others. I want to live!17

I removed my fingers from the keys and stared at the screen, I wasn't going to read it over, screw typos and whatever needed fixing. I sighed and hovered the cursor over the 'Submit Story' button, I think I did all I wanted. It was hard finding 10 reasons to live, but I did it, I guess. I smiled and clicked Submit Story.19
It was like I already won.20
Author notes
My top reason why I would stop living? Easy: the apocalypse. I don't wanna experience that :-P
Thanks for the fun contest ^^

You should win. You should definitely win this. I haven't read all the other entries, but I still think you should win. I loved it. You're right, we do actually have a lot in common with our goals and views ^^. Anyway, this was awesome. And I didn't find any typos
. Brilliant job, I loved it.
*bows down to Princess*
. I really hope you win this, even though I entered too, lol. You did write it better and I'm not just saying it to be nice. I liked yours because you detailed it more and thought of more unique things. Anyway, best of luck!

This is good, something different and fairly well written too. What gave you the idea for this? I mean, what prompted you to sit down at your computer and type out these ten reasons?
Perhaps it is something we should all try and do every once in a while... It would be interesting to see the results. -
-
THANKS!
Thank you tons!
I'm so glad people will actually take the time to read this AND comment! ^^ It means a lot, cause I benefitted from it 2 ways!
Well, what prompted me was the fact that although I'm such a happy go lucky, life-loving person, I couldn't come up with the 10 reasons why I lived on spot. I wanted to strive to find out what I lived for ^^ I liked the challenge, and didn't want to give up.
I just enjoyed it really.
Amen my brother - er, I means sister!

ALEX IS NOT AAEZ-STEALER, GODDAMNIT!

THat was ages ago! Let it go!!!!
Phew...anyway. Now that that's over with, I guess I can tell you that your reasons to live are really sweet and I loved how you entered humour in with things so serious.
Sky: How come you didn't your art in your reasons, Aaez?
...I do not know. Maybe because I'd give it up for things that are more imp.
Anyway. So yeah, I really really liked it. You wrote it very well.

ROFL! XD I don't care! It's fun to type!

Ahem, now that that's cleared up I'd like to thank you for your fantastic comment! It's a great privilege (what does that mean again? XD)
Who's Sky now? Or am I forgetting the names of your many alter-egos?
Thanks again! Hehe

I think it's interesting how you made your entry into kind of a story. I'm having a hard time picking the words to explain it but you know what I'm talking about XP As far as I've seen so far this contest was pretty popular, huh?
Great job
I think my favorite reason you wrote was "10: Life, obviously!" XD

I really liked the format and original structure of this. Overall it's a well written and engaging piece that hooks the reader and maintains interest throughout. Can only echo what the others have said about grammar and typos although some of the sentence constructions may need a little more attention. Thanks for sharing and I hope you do well in your contest. Cheers.

It's folks like you what give me hope for the next generation.
*ahem*
Other than it being Solomon instead of Soloman, your list flowed well. It's always good to have things to live for. Thank you for sharing. -

Rofl, thanks Grandpa! And thanks for pointing out the typo, I didn't notice it among the odd things I wrote XD And you're welcome! It was my pleasure! *cuddles you tightly* I love you Grandpa!
