I vividly recall those days1
When childhood ruled my world2
Going over to friend’s houses3
Climbing on trees; hidden in leaves4
Sneaking ripe guavas in our pockets5
And then running away; laughing6
As the old man comes with a stick7
I still smile at sweet remembrance8
Of birthday parties and games9
Throwing pieces of cakes at birthday child10
Before being turned out by the angry mother11
I remember the sleep-over nights12
Bringing in teddies stealthily13
And then calling home late at night14
Asking for a forgotten toothbrush15
When it was time for bed; and lights off16
Each child quivered with fear17
Feeling for each other hands18
I love to sit back and remember the days19
When running after mischievous doings20
We used to wonder why grown-ups21
Still think we are innocent

Wow, this is awesome! If I were running this contest, I would have given this one a trophy hands down, or at least put it in the finalists list! You write it so vividly, I can almost actually see what you are describing. Really awesome write, captures the feel of childhood. ONly part I'm not sure about is the ending- it seems like the whole poem WAS very innocent up until the end. Still a really great write.

I enjoy reading poems that are about childhood. =] I think you included some great memories and created a reminiscent mood. My only critcism is that this poem is GOOD, but could be GREAT if the flow was improved. Great stuff, though.
Thanks for entering and good luck. =D

A Refreshing Read
This poem was really touching, i love how you convey the innocence of childhood and still kept the poem readable to a mature audience, it made me miss my childhood. I particularly liked the opening two lines
"I vividly recall those days
When childhood ruled my world"
that just sums up the poem and just the general naivety of children. Really nice poem that anyone can relate to, good job.
