Serkan opened the restored door to her house, flipping on the lights to a brand new and clean looking interior. The floors were shiny and clean, no blood or glass. She went into the kitchen and saw the window replaced, the linoleum all replaced and a new dishwasher.1
"Serkan, why did you replace my dishwasher?"2
"I didn't. Aelwyn did."3
"Why?"4
Serkan snickered. "I don't think you wanna know."5
"Oh, I do now that you won't tell me." She raised her brow at him and folded her arms, waiting for an explanation.6
Serkan shook his head. "Well, Carmina and him... Uh..." He shook his fingers toward the dishwasher, scratched his head and shrugged. "Got frisky..."7
Kainda cleared her throat and unfolded her arms, waving them. "Forget it. I think I can fill in the blanks."8
"Yeah." Serkan made a funny look and turned out of the kitchen.9
"Did you spruce up the rest of the place?"10
"Yes. I felt bad for leaving you at a time like that, all alone. While you were in the hospital I hired some contractors and they refurbished the place. They did it at a reasonable price, but not like money really matters to me."11
She smiled. "Thank you."12
He nodded. "Anytime."13
She followed him upstairs and he went to her room. "I also did a bit more decorating."14
Her room was no longer plain. There was a bigger more soft looking bed with a fluffy comforter and pillows. There was a portrait on the wall and a few pictures framed she knew to be Carmina's photography and art.15
"Oh, Serkan. Thank you." She jumped onto her bed. She moaned happily and snuggled into it, smiling. "I could fall asleep right now."16
"I'm sure you could." He leaned over her, running a hand down her back. She turned to face him and he leaned closer, resting his forehead against hers, letting his hand run down her arm.17
She lifted her head and caught his lips, kissing him. He tried to pull away and she quickly wrapped her arms around him, holding on to him.18
"No, Kainda."19
"Don't stop me now," she said, still holding him. "Please, Serkan..."20
"Kainda, I said no."21
She dug her fingers into his shoulders. "Why not?"22
"One minute you're vulnerable and loving, the next you are cruel and violent. I hate how you flip-flop from one to the other."23
"I'm sorry but that is how I am."24
"Then I am sorry, I don't think we should go any further then."25
"Serkan!" She cried, giving him a hurt look at he pulled her away. "Please!"26
"No!" He pointed a finger at her. "You get yourself straight before you even think about it with me. Try some other schmuck, but you aren't getting me like that."27
"Then why did you bother touching me in the first place? Why come so close only to push me away?"28
"Don't like it, do you? Now you know how I felt that night."29
"Forget it! It was in the past! I want us to start again." She felt her sorrow awaken, something she despised him for allowing to surface.30
He stared at her, obviously considering it. "All right." She relaxed, smiling. "I will stay, and give you the love I feel for you and you crave. If you ever act cruel to me or threaten a life that doesn't deserve threatening, I will leave you."31
"Understood," she said without hesitation. She embrace him and he kissed her head, running his fingers over her hair.32
She lifted her face to his and their lips touched, instantly turning into a smoldering lip lock that left them moaning and needy for each other's touch. He moved her to the bed, pressing her down, moving his body against hers as his lips traveled down her cheek to her neck.33
She had closed her eyes, lost in the feeling, her whole body quivering. God, she knew she wanted it that badly. Only he made her feel like her body was weightless, able to float in the air without effort.34
He lifted his face to hers, running the back of his hand over her cheek. Her eyes opened, staring into his red irises, glimpsing the white fangs past his parted lips.35
"I love you, Kainda," he whispered.36
She touched his face with both hands. "I love you," she said softly, smiling.37
When he smiled he kissed her passionately, wrapping her in his arms and lifting her to him, twirling her around. She laughed and held on tight. His hands ran over her back, pressing her to him as he stopped twirling her.38
She stared at him with dizzy eyes and giggled. He laughed and kissed her some more, laying each kiss wherever he could on her face and head and then down to her ears and then neck.39
"Serkan?"40
"Yes?" he replied reluctantly, still kissing her neck.41
"Do you still want some of my blood?"42
This made him straighten, looking at her with a shocked look. "Seriously?"43
She bit her lip and nodded. "Since I know that it would be the only chance you'd ever get before..."44
He sat her on the bed. "I should tell you that I already took some that night we were in Africa."45
Her eyes widened. "When?"46
"I think you were so caught up in the ecstasy of it all that you hardly noticed. I didn't take too much." She touched her neck, rubbing it. "Neither did I leave marks. It looked like a hickey."47
"Geez, Serkan, you couldn't have waited?"48
"Oh, if you only knew what your blood tasted like..."49
"What does it taste like?" she breathed, pressing a hand to her chest.50
He sat next to her and took in the scent of her neck, making her body tremble. "You smell like honey and warmth. You taste just like I remembered a pomegranate tasting, every bit as sweet and mouth watering."51
She let out a strangled breath and tackled him, pushing into the bed and straddling his hips. He was taken by surprise, but quickly fell into her rhythm as she tugged as it shirt, him doing the same to hers and she kissed him, running her hands through his black hair. He groaned and grazed his teeth over her neck. She gasped and dug her fingers into his back, her anticipation of his bite sending her senses amuck.52
Without a word of warning, Serkan had bitten into Kainda's neck. She cried out and sobbed, but relaxed, trying not to move as he drank her blood. Slowly her toes tingled and then the feeling worked its way up to her loins, making her moan and press her body against him.53
He kneaded her arms as he took a couple of gulps of her blood. He still tasted the antibiotics that she had taken along with the painkillers, but beneath the drugs he could only crave more of the tangy sweetness that was her blood. He puckered, licking his lips, sighing happily, his body shivering and hungry with lust. He licked her neck, taking up every bit he could and then kissed where he had bitten ever so lightly.54
Her arms went around him firmly, keeping him on top of her. Her leg went over his and she moved her hips against his. He had groaned and she responded by smiling.55
"I never thought a bite would feel like that."56
He chuckled softly. "Years of practice."57
She laughed. "I thought you were born with the knack."58
He laughed with her and kissed her, pressing against her. She felt him, knew him now and wasn't as alarmed, but she still felt it nag at her mind and heart.59
"If your body isn't ready I won't push for it," he said. "We have time."60
She sighed, looking away. "What if we don't? What if something happens to me or you?"61
"We would have loved enough to long for each other."62
She bit on her lower lip, staring into his eyes as they turned from red to brown and then to grey and finally blue. She touched his skin, feeling it actually hold warmth and she touched his chest, feeling nothing until she actually pressed her ear to where his heart would be, hearing the hum that was faint but comforting.63
He raised her chin with one hand, propping his body up one his other, kissing her as she laid back. Her body reacted to his touch like a flower shivers in the warm breeze. Her mind swam and her actions were no longer hers, now automatic as she ran her fingers lightly over his bare back, feeling the hand at her chin tickle down her throat to her chest over her side to rest on her hip.64
When she pressed her hips against his he almost lost his mind he was so turned on. Being sensitive to her body temperature, he could feel heat against him, so unbearably close and inviting to his cold form. He grew rigid, trying to focus on not letting his vampiric senses take over.65
"Am I hurting you?" she asked, seeing his little struggle.66
"No." He grinned and took one of her arms, running her hand down his chest. "Just finding every part of you so beautiful." He kissed her palm and then down her arm.67
She thought about that first time again, smiling at how he had kissed every part of her body. She wanted him to do it again, but this proved better. He was now massaging her, kissing her arms and chest down her stomach, sliding off her in the process.68
He yanked at her jeans, tugging them down off her hips and tossing them aside. She instinctively moved her hands to cover herself, pressing her legs together, all the blood rushing to two places.69
He chuckled, touching the backs of her hands lovingly. "It's okay," he whispered. He then kissed her hands and fingers, breathing on her hands her thighs. She lifted her hips and her hands moved away, finding themselves in his hair as he kissed her inner thighs, flicking his tongue at her skin.70
She moved one of her hands to her mouth, biting it, the other lightly running through his hair.71
For all that was sacred to Serkan, he knew that nothing could ever make him hurt her. But his hunger was just starting to go wild, writhing in his veins like a leech that was hungry for the richest and rarest bloods of all. For a virgin, the original advised cuisine for a vampire was writhing before him, begging him to take what he wanted her to keep.72
For hours he could stand next to her, inhaling her scent and just feel satisfied. Her hunger for his love and the connection that came with making love sickened him to know he would never revel in her chastity ever again.73
He kissed his way up past the small patch of curls over her stomach to her neck, settling over her. She sighed and ran both her hands through his hair, lightly running them over the back of his neck.74
Their eyes met and she began to see into them, seeing past the blue tint into his mind, his soul. Her expression changed slowly and he moved off her so she could sit up.75
"Why won't you make love to me?" Her voice sounded almost as heart-broken as her face looked.76
Serkan opened his mouth to say something but she cut him off.77
"Did I do something wrong? What did I do? I have... I have done nothing since we got here! I haven't done anything!"78
He shushed her softly and pulled her to him, making her look into his eyes. "Kainda, you have done no wrong. I am just thinking..."79
She nodded her head forward for him to continue. "Yes?"80
He smiled, having his explanation. "I want us to be married first."81
Her eyes widened with surprise. Her jaw dropped and she coughed, covering her mouth. "Married?" she rasped, moving her hand to her chest. "Married?" she asked again in disbelief, getting a nod of affirmation.82
"What can waiting a month or two hurt? I want us to be together forever."83
She let a smile glimpse her lips and then she laughed. "Oh my god... Serkan..." She got up and began to pace the room, her arms folded over her chest. "I don't know--"84
"Oh, don't say it, please," he begged, standing. He picked up her pants and handed them to her. "And please put these on--you're very distracting."85
She slipped them on and he moved her back to the bed, sitting hip to hip with her. "I know it's alot to digest, but hear me out. I would love to have you as my wife. I want us to consider that we can spend our lives with matrimony saying that any who try to come between would have just as much to answer to than our wrath."86
She smirked, staring at him as he talked.87
"Taking you now is more than I want. I want to treasure every moment of our friendship and our relationship before we take it to the next level."88
She exhaled heavily. "You're afraid I'm going to get pregnant, huh?" He laughed, making her chuckle. "I mean, that has got to be one of the reasons why."89
"No, no. That never has crossed my mind."90
"Well, why not? I thought nearly every man had at one time feared of having sex with some girl and she'd get pregnant and then be bound to them out of wedlock. Marriage would save you from the embarrassment, right?"91
Serkan caught his breath after laughing. "Kainda, nearly every vampire I know would love to do more than try to impregnate you. They would want to keep you locked up in a bedroom, chained to a bed to come to you every night to make love to you and drain you of blood a little each day."92
Kainda's eyes almost popped out of her skull as he said that. She tensed and he grew concerned that he scared her into thinking that was what he wanted to do.93
"But all I want from you," he said, holding her face between his hands to feel the warmth of her skin and gaze into her honey brown eyes, "is the chance to enjoy your scent and your purity before I take your maiden body against me and make you mine."94
She shivered slightly, pressing herself against him in a tight embrace. How she loved to hear him say it, though she never thought she'd ever want to hear those words. Her past in Africa was void of loving contact save from a family level with her father and uncle and grandparents. Her mother, she barely remembered, for all she knew loved her till the very end.95
With the guys who longed for her, chased her down, and would possibly never get a chance in hell to ever get her if she married Serkan, she was tempted only to say, "Serkan, I would hate to be the trophy wife you got to make yours one night and then have me make you sandwiches and bring you beers the rest of our married lives."96
He scoffed. "Inda, I would give you whatever would make you happy if you became my wife. Whatever you want, I would give it to you."97
She smiled, shaking her head. "Uh-uh. Now you are trying to seduce me. See, Serkan, I can't just marry you..."98
"But you can allow me to take your virginity without hesitation," he pointed out, grinning.99
She sighed with exasperation. He caught her in her own trap. She sounded more like a whore with wanting sex before marriage, saying she loved him and that being with him in one moment would be better than an entire lifetime of making love with just him.100
"Then again," he said, "it would be better to test drive before buying, no?"101
She laughed. "True. But in a case like marriage, one would have to do more of a scrutinized examination of the product before purchasing. Can't take it out of it's wrapping before buying."102
He nodded. "A better way to put it." He leaned toward her, kissing her lovingly.103
What was meant only as a brief peck became a steamy passionate kiss, her arms locked around his neck, her body pressed against his and pressing him back into the bed, moving her body against his. His hands glided over her back and rested on her waist.104
"Is that a yes?" he whispered, holding her head to his, shutting his eyes.105
She nodded. "Yes. I will marry you."106
He smiled, pressing their lips together in another loving kiss.107
The following week, Kainda went into her work, going up the stairs to the third level. She scanned her badge and then opened the door.108
"You're back!" was the chorus she heard from her fellow coworkers, the three she considered work-only friends. "Where have you been? We've been so curious where you were! Rumor had it that you were killed by a vampire or a werewolf."109
Kainda shook her head in disbelief, rolling her eyes. "I can't believe that me being gone every so often had led you to believe that I was dead or kidnapped or something."110
She went to her desk and searched amongst the files and papers for her pen and then wrote a quick note down, folding it and then slipping it into her pocket.111
"So what are you doing?" one of the three asked, a curly redhead named Julie with bright green eyes. "You on a new project?"112
"Yes. Overhead gave me a new position as ambassador."113
"Ambassador?" Gina, the black haired French woman asked, her wide eyes blinking in disbelief. "What's that for?"114
Hua Yu, a petite Korean girl, giggled. "You guys are funny." And she glanced at her watch, quickly running back over to her desk to check something.115
Julie and Gina exchanged weird looks at what Hua Yu said. "Anyways," Julie said, "what does this new job entail you to do?"116
"Well, I have to pretty much negotiate and help a group of rebels against a resistance."117
"What group?" Gina asked, Julie echoing the same question.118
"There you are, Inda."119
Serkan came strolling into the office, all smiles and dressed up in a nice suit. Kainda smiled and they gave each other a quick kiss. "I was just stopping by to talk to the Overhead."120
"Yeah, I had to make a note for my boss. I will meet you later."121
Hua Yu came running back over. "Sorry, what I miss?"122
"Oh, Serkan. This is--"123
"Gina Marceau," Gina said, extending her hand to him, shaking his.124
"Julie Fye," Julie said, simply smiling coyly.125
"And you?" Serkan asked Hua.126
"Hua Yu," she said.127
"Who are you?" he asked.128
"No, Hua Yu," she tried to say.129
"No, who are you? I asked first."130
"No, Hua Yu is my name!" she said, pointing to herself.131
Kainda, Julie and Gina began to laugh as Serkan chuckled, apologizing.132
"It was nice to meet you girls. Inda, I will see you later." Serkan smiled at her and walked back out.133
Kainda grinned to herself, fiddling with the white gold band on her left ring finger.
