"Faith, honey it's time for school," just another day in the Johnson household. Faith Johnson, 17, 5'2 varsity cheerleading captain and student body president. She lives at home with her mom, her dad and her little sister Vicky. This is her life. Her routine of normalcy that drives her crazy. She gets up in the morning, brushes her teeth, gets dressed, has a breakfast bar or an apple then takes her sister to school. They don't usually talk about anything since Vicky is always off listening to her iPod. But once Faith get's to school it's a different story. At school she's Miss.Popularity. She wears a smile almost as fake as her haircolor. She hates this life she's created, but once you're in, you can't get out. But you look in her eyes and you'll see. You'll see that she's not perfect. She may smile, but that glow that should be there, it isn't. There's something missing in her life and she would do anything to find it. To see why she can't be happy no matter what. She has every reason to be happy, she's got the perfect boyfriend, perfect grades, perfect friends and a perfect family. But ever since she as little she's felt like something was missing, like she wasn't fully alive.
But today it was different, today it wasn't routine as usual. At first everything seemed to be going the same. But when she got in the car her sister wanted to talk.
"Hey umm Faith can I talk to you?"
"yeah sure hun, what's up?"
"well the thing is that I've been kinda having problems at school and like I just wanted to know if it was OK for us to go to that fortune teller's house up at Dean Street?"
"Ummm...Sure. Are you sure you wanna go there, that lady's kinda creepy?"
"Yeah I'm sure."
"Well alright," so they continued on their way to school. Faith was confused as to why her sister wanted to go see the fortune teller. That lady was a hack! Everyone in town knew that, well aparently not everyone. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on in Vicky's life that was troubling her so much. Usually when something goes on she talks about it with Faith instead of just hiding it and going to a fortune teller. She chose to give her sister the privacy she deserved and went on to school. Her sister was a freshman in high school so it was easy to drop her off. She parked her car and met up with Jake, her boyfriend.
Jake and Faith had been going out for the past three years, long enough for her to give it all to him, not long enough for her to see how much of a mistake it was. Jake was the typical jock, which also meant that he was a cheating bastard. But some day Faith will learn of his cheating, just not today. No today Faith learns about herself.1
