Betrayal

She looked up into the eyes of the one she loved, all she could see was the pain he felt, she reached up and wiped a tear from his face. She tried to smile but the pain shot through her, she tried to scream but no sound would come. His mind raced trying to find a way to save her life, his love was slipping away from him and there was nothing he could do, the blade had gone to deep...he knew no doctor could save her, and no amount of arcane power he possessed could stop her life from spilling out, it wouldn't take long and her body would be a shell, nothing more but a reminder of the love that had lasted for hundreds of years. He forced himself to focus, to spend ever moment they had left together with her. she found the strength to push the pain away she had to try before it was to late, she reached out with all she had, and finally just for an instant but thats all they needed, her mind and spirit touched his and they became one, like they had so many times before.1

She cried out to him “My love, my love”2

He looked down at her and a smile broke through, “yes, I'm here, I wont leave you”3

“I know.”4

“You have to keep fighting, you can't give up, I'll find a way to save you, just please stay with me”5

“oh my love, don't hate them...for this its a gift they given me and when its your time you'll join me...”6

He could feel her, he bent down and kissed her trying to bring her back to him, but he knew it was in vain.7

“What have you done.” Michaal said, with the blade still in his hand, the words were like a hammer driving the air out of his chest.8

“You killed her you monster, YOU KILLED HER.” Kro said, he still had her blood on his hands.9

Krotue could feel the hate and anger boiling up inside him, his skin turned to fire, he could kill them with a thought, but before he could her words sang in his head, like an alarm blaring “Don't hate them...its a gift...don't hate them...”, he looked at them, the killers of his love, a love that had lasted through the eons...and all he could do was stand there, he hoped, he prayed they would attack him, or plunge that blade deep into his heart, the pound was deafening, and he wished it would stop...but it just pounded all the harder. Soon the room was full of solders Michaal handed the General the dragon blade, “we took this from him, but we couldn't stop him from killing her.”10

Shote couldn't believe his eyes, King Eldrige dead, and now Kellena, and Krotue the murderer, it couldn't be, Krotue had been his closed friend certainly there must be another explanation, “The King her father is dead.”11

“We know,” Kro said, looking right and Krotue, “he told us, he'd killed him just before he killed her.” Shote stood there shocked, he knew the only way to know for sure was to hear Krotue say he didn't do it, and he pleaded “Please, my lord, tell me it isn't true. Tell me that Michaal, and Kro are joking with me.”12

I should, Krotue thought, I should tell the truth, these two traitors didn't deserve mercy, they'd killed My love, and now I learn that they killed her father. “No, Its true...I...I killed them.” She wouldn't want him to take revenge on them...and after all the worse they can do is banish me, I am now the King of both Gellidesh and Krosumbaly...even now, as much as he wanted, he couldn't brake his promise, that no matter what, he would protect the children of Eldrige...13

“Take him,” Michaal said. “He shall be banished to...the 6th planet in the 6th system in the 6th galaxy, there all just a bunch of animals there anyway.”14

The soldiers moved to follow their orders, unsure if this was a nightmare, or really happening...Krotue kill his wife, and father-in-law, with a dragon blade...they were supposed to have been destroyed after the great war, when Krotue and Eldrige finally made peace between their two worlds...Shote stayed behind, in case they had any other orders.15

Kro seemed worried,“Do you really think thats wise, the people there once worshiped him as a god.”16

Michaal laughed “It's fine the people there are stubborn, and much has changed...what do they call there speck of dust.......”17

“Earth, I believe,” Kro said “Quaint isn't it, they don't even have a stable world power to name the thing.” He couldn't help but laugh, and feel sorry for his father.18

“Please, prin....I mean King Krotue the 2nd and King Michaal, don't send him there the people may have the means to kill him...have a little mercy on him,” Shote begged, “After all he is your father...and your brother-in-law...”19

“IF YOU ARE SO WORRIED FOR HIM, AND HAVE SO MUCH LOVE FOR THE TRAITOR...AND MURDERER...” Michaal screamed ferious, “WHY DON'T YOU GO WITH HIM.”20

“Calm down uncle,” Krotue II said, “He can't help it if he loves my father, they have been friends since they were young...If you wish you may go with him...and take that disgusting animal my father keeps with him.”21

Shote had forgotten about Symbolyc but he must be around somewhere...he always fallows Krotue protecting him, and those around him...it didn't make sense where had the beast gone, it did have a tendency to stay hidden, and one never knew what it would look like, though it often took the form of one of the great dragon statues that were in the courtyard, and sometimes the giant wolves of the forest and mountain regions of Kellena's home...A lot of things didn't make sense, Krotue would never harm Eldrige, the man was like a father to them both, and he even let Krotue return home when he found out his father was sick, and that was during the war...but to even consider that Krotue could think a hurtful thought about Kellena was absurd he adored the woman, and would rather cut out his own heart out than see harm come to her....no something didn't settle right with him...but now his duty was to his lord, and Krotue would be sent off soon.22

They didn't hurt him, or beat him, which was the custom of prisoners being punished, of course most were beheaded, or fed to some animal or another, and if it was a traitor well they were especially creative then, but Krotue was a king, and the worse thing you can do to a member of one of the royal families is to banish them to some planet or moon, to live out the rest of there lives in exile, he should know he sent his fair share of people...but why would they send me to earth, they know that planet has a strange affect on our people, or was it...that the traitors hoped the people had found the one element that could cause harm, even kill him; granted dragons didn't exist on the planet and those that were moved there died soon after, and Krotue had lived there for so long anyway that the change in him and Kellena had become permanent even when they left...he couldn't help but remember the first time he stepped foot on that sacred ground, that would forever be holy to him, I was young, barely a man, I'd gone there because father wanted to kidnap the daughter of his enemy, and sent me, his son, to get her...oh I found her, and we fell in love, I told her why I was there, and asked why she had come...she was on a mission trip, she'd found these people years ago, and wanted to come and give them some supplies, they were simple people, and they thought she was a goddess, and that I was a god...so we stayed... when Shote came looking for us we had been there for a century or so, but he brought news that the war had taken a turn for the worse, so we left, and went to her father to try and bring peace, when they arrived he gave me a place to live, and after some time he accepted our marriage...when word came that my father was ill he allowed us to go to my home. My father was supposedly happy, I think he was just sick ha ha Krotue couldn't help but laugh to himself; father died soon after, leaving me as King at which point I ordered a permanent cease fire, and using our marriage, brought peace between our worlds. We always wanted to return to earth, I just wish it was under my own power...and with her beside me... he forced the tears from his eyes, and pushed the sadness that would crush him under the weight away... I wonder if any of them still have it...Krotue II thinks he is the ol...I wonder what he would do if he learned the truth, that every person living on that “ Quaint” little planet had a part of Me inside them. Krotue knew what was coming, he'd seen it before, a metal shell would be placed around him, made from a single dragon scale, to keep him from changing course or manipulating those that found his tomb, he was surprised when he saw that a small crater had been made, and more so, when Shote placed a single jewel in it...Krotue knew that that jewel was really a binding crystal, and inside Krotue could feel the spirit of Symbolyc, when he landed that crystal would shatter and Symbolyc would be free and because of the bond between him and his master he would protect Krotue at all cost from anyone who meant him harm; Shote was true, but what did it cost him, that Michaal and Kro would allow him to send Symbolyc with him...and then Krotue saw it, Shote didn't have to say a thing, he could read it in his eyes and they way he looked at his family...like he'd never see them again...and confirmation, a second Scale tomb was lowered to the launching pad. “Didn't think I'd let you go on this adventure without me,” Shote smiled “I let you go alone last time and you met someone and fell in love, can't have that again now can we.”23

Krotue broke out laughing, the walls shook with the laughter and then he was silent and finally said “Thank you old friend, I will repay this kindness,” And looking to Shotes family he said “May your house always be blessed and may you always find joy in the harvest.”24

Michaal and Kro didn't even bother to show up, they didn't need to, they had eyes now all over the universe, they were the two most powerful men. As Krotue and Shote were launched into space for their journey, they were surprised to learn that they wouldn't have to be awake for the trip, and it could last ten thousand years, they were granted the comfort of being able to sleep for there journey, of course that meant they were open to attacks and raiding party's, space was a dangerous place, and Michaal and Kro hoped they would never make it to earth...if they did then there was a chance they would make it back here, so they sent agents to keep that from happening...25

The Universe just took a dark turn, without Krotue to keep peace world after world fell to chaos and open war broke out, Michaal and Krotue II remained allies but constantly trying to kill each other for more power. After more then a millennium of war Krotue and Shote returned with a little surprise for the traitors, peace did finally returned, but the cost to bring peace was high.
