Many people argue on the affects of the United States of America’s government. Some say it is great and that they never want it to change, others say they don’t really care much a bout it, and yet others say that is corrupt, unneeded, and unwanted.1
I am one of the people who would say “, down with the government we don’t need Bush.” But just because I think that way it doesn’t mean that I am right. No, I may be totally wrong but I really don’t think I am. For the past year or two I have been trying to really find some truth in all this jazz that is going on with Bush and what I have found is that the only two things that I can really trust are the information that says that Bush will be out of the government for good in 4 years and that there will always be someone who turns the government into a living circus.2
Recently I saw the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 and I learned many things that I believe to be true. For example one of the only reasons that Bush sent more people into Iraq than Afghanistan is because he was a friend to some of the people in Afghanistan. In the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 I also learned just how concerned everyone in the government is when it comes to the U S of A. What the Government does is worries about money, oil, land, and destroying things!3
I also have noticed that a new movie has come out. I believe it was called Fahrenhype 9/11. I have not seen that yet but I believe it was made by some government officials to cover up for what George Bush and his family has done. Now really why would a movie come out like that unless somebody was really trying to cover something up that is important to the world? I know I shouldn’t be pointing any fingers since I have not seen that movie yet but I believe it to be as phony as its name.4
Now there are also many more arguments over whether or not there should be a war in Iraq. Well my answer is no. Even though there are thousands of soldiers are over in Iraq killing each other and other innocent people Bush still has not actually filed a real war. He is too cowardice to actually do something like that. No, instead he just starts sending people over there hoping that all the issues in Iraq will just disappear. Well let me tell you this Bush sending people over to a different country to eliminate everyone won’t make people like you more. No, it makes people even angrier. So once again I will say that I am totally against the Iraq war but now that it is pretty much already happening all I can do is protest and hope that everything will turn out alright (which I know it will not.). Also how come Bush has all this money to throw away on a country that he just demolished and yet people are starving and dying on the streets of America and nobody seems to do anything about it? How come there are so many charity groups for other poor countries and yet there are so few for America? For those questions I do not have an answer.5
Another argument that has undergo for some time is the idea of gay marriage. I am all for it because if you can’t it is a lot like saying a white person can’t marry a black person just because they are different. I know that many other people disagree with the idea of gay and lesbian marriage and the only reason I can think of for that is because they are different or because the people who are against it are Christians and it is against there religion. Well I would like to see where in the bible it says blacks and white men and women shall not marry or they shall perish because that is exactly the same as saying men and men shall not marry or they shall perish or women shall not marry women or they shall perish. Now once again I may be totally wrong but those are my beliefs. 6

I have to agree that as an essay, it is weak in many respects. However, that being said does not mean it cannot be fixed. Especially in that many of the points you raise are quite valid, and perhaps should be expounded upon. I especiallay liked the point about the vast amounts of money being spent on our military and yet the homeless and poor that we ignore in our own country. This is a moral issue and one that could perhaps be delved into more deeple.
At any rate, good luck in the contest and keep writing. Becoming good at essays takes practice, just like everything else.

This is an ok essay, as far as essays go. The subject, for one short essay, is too broad, and it would have been better to keep it to one subject. Also, there are some grammar mistakes. Bible is always capitalized because it is a book, and all book titles are always capitalized. Also, I noticed a misused "there" where it should have been "their." Spellcheck can check the spelling, but it cannot tell you if you have used the right word.
Onto the ideas.
About the government: How much have you studied? Have you studied our form of government or only this administration? Make sure to know your facts and all because you leave out a lot.
The Movies: In some ways, all movies are propaganda. Considering Michael Moore is anti-Bush, his work will of course carry that sentiment. He makes some good points, but that doesn't mean his words should become religious text. Check out the facts behind movies, and keep in mind that we are too close to Bush's actions to be able to look back retrospectively.
Iraq: And what shall we do now? I wasn't for sending troops in, but to abandon the Iraqis now to chaos seems a bit unfair to them. Once you start something, you have to finish it. What do you think would happen if we withdrew this month? Such actions do take time, and, although Bush is taking more time than many want, if the country's police force cannot handle everything, it is a death sentence to thousands more than are dying now to leave now.
Gay Marriage: Interracial marriage and same gender marriage is different. I am not saying that gay marriage sould not be allowed, but keep in mind that the two are very different issues in some respect. In some ways they are similar, but to call them the same is wrong. The Supreme Court case mentioned in another comment is Loving v. Virginia, which ruled interracial marriage constitutional. As for me, I simply believe all marriage should be removed from our country, and everyone should get civil unions. However, to be realistic, I believe that gay rights advocates should accept civil unions. After all, aren't the rights more important than the name?
Again, as an essay, it is weak in many respects, but thank you for sharing your ideas,

There actually is a part of the bible that says homosexuality is a sin.
don't get me wrong i'm definately for gay marriage, i should be, as i'm a lesbian haha. but what i'm trying to tell you is to check your facts. you also had a fact checking situation about farenhype 911 or whatever it was called, i really don't think you should use it as an arguement if you havent even seen the movie...
you make some good points, but this would be an even better essay with more substantial evidence -

nice... i agree with a lot of wat u said... i believe gay marriages should be aloud.... a quote from my dad who is against it is... " we arent stopping them from living with one another, but if a marriage of a woman and a man can only have one wife/husbad and no one on the side, why should a guy be aloud to have 6 husbands" where he got it... i dunno.... he thinks that EVERY gay will want to have as many husbands/wives that they please... but u no... i cant stand my dad so it works... well seeya

I'm a big fan of Michael Moore's- but be warned, a lot of what he does is inflate propaganda. But, I'm okay with it, because I agree with most of what he says.
Just know, that regardless of which side the information comes from, it is always skewed. You've got to pick and choose from it.
As for the gay marriage part, I agree, and I think you made a good analogy between same sex and different race. Be warned though, there used to be an ammendment preventing inter-racial marriages. It was repealed a long time ago, but it was there- which means if we're not careful, the same type of ammendment could be passed for gay marriage. Thanks for posting this and bringing your opinion to light, I enjoyed reading it. -

Hey, Go you! Wow, I am so pleased with this. It's hitting the spot on everything I agree/disgree with. I agree with every word you've said, on everything. Great work, I really honestly believe the same thing you do with new 9/11 movie. I wrote a column about all of this too, a while ago. But anyway, this was great. The topic about gay marriage, it's not my right to tell them "no, it's wrong." I mean, I wouldn't want someone to tell me I can't marry whom ever just because they're different than I am. I mean, that's just going against the constitution isn't it?!?! All men created equal and stuff, what is it, now people throwing that down the toilet or something? I hate Bush with a passion. I can't stand him, and I hope his monkey ass burns in the depths of hell because everyone's death that died in Iraq is on his hands. Stupid bastard.

i have exactly the same views as yors on both subjects. and jst to let u know, other excuses ppl have given for not letting gay marriage go ahead is saying that the children *if they adopt* would have stress and possibly face bullying for their parents sexuality etc; and in the bible it doesn't say a man shudn't be with a man but it DOES say something that the man should only take a woman to bed or something. But im a against Christianity as well, so lol
