"We finally caught the son of a bitch. Who knew Immanuel the Prince of Fear would be Alexander Jackson the community college janitor." One cop said to another.1
"He has caused countless deaths. He is a murderer, a arsenist, a narcissist, and a full-blown sociopath. A grade-A serial killer." 2
"If we have all of this exidence then why do we need to talk to him?"3
"I want a motive."4
The two cops walk into the interrogation room, the giant spotlight is already on and pointed directly into Alexander Jackson's (Immanuel's) eyes.Immediately the cops noticed that something was off with Alexander, he wasn't squinting. Most maniacs and crooks cower from the light, yet Alexander is looking directly into it, without having to shield his eyes. 5
"Good evening officers," Alexander said politely to the two policemen.6
"Evenin," Officer Woods replies. 7
"Caught ya you son-of-a...."8
"James please," Officer Woods pleaded with Officer Creek. 9
"Sorry." 10
"Anywho. Alexander Jackson why did you commit these heinous crimes?" Officer Woods inquired.11
"I did not commit those crimes, Immanuel did." Alexander quickly snapped.12
"This is bull...." Officer Creek muttered again before being silenced by Officer Woods.13
"Can I speak to Immanuel then?"14
"Sure. Give me a sec," Alexander looked up to the ceiling, licked his lips, blinked and returned his gaze to the two cops. "The good ol' good-cop bad-cop routine? Isn't that a little old? I've only seen it on every drama t.v. show ever made."15
"Immanuel?"16
"Yes, that would be me," Immanuel smiled cruely.17
"Why did you kill all these people and ruin so many lives?"18
"For the betterment of the planet. The more people I turn to ash out of natural selection, the better this planet becomes."19
"Care to explain?"20
"If you wish," Immanuel looked up to the ceiling and started to explain, "Humanity's time in history is like seconds to Mother Earth's years, yet humanity in it's few seconds of life has done more damage to it's own environment than any other living being in Earth's existance. Therefore me killing off a couple people here and there, I'm slowly giving back Earth to Mother Nature."21
"You sick son of a bitch! You think you can justify killing innocent people with that lame ass excuse? I should end your life right here but you would probably enjoy that. I hope you suffer a horrific death in prison." Officer Creek snapped.22
"Careful what you wish for Officer James Creek. It may come true and I should warn you, I have implanted a microchip into my heart. If ever my heart stops beating one of my loyal disciples will know, and that will end in Michael and Michelle's death." 23
"How do you know my children's names?! How?!" Officer Creek yelled. 24
"Simple," Immanuel chuckled, "When I made my one phone call, I called one of my followers and they went and picked up your beloved children from school. Just in case anything goes wrong, and it gives me a little leverage to get out of execution." Immanuel let out a loud and eery laugh that would make even the strongest of men cringe. 25
Officer Creek charged over the table at Immanuel, a mistake. Immanuel was too fast and quickly out manuvered James and spun him so that Immanuel's handcuffs were around James' throat. Officer Woods' gun was pointed at Immanuel and another policemen had come in as back-up.26
"LET HIM GO!" they yelled.27
Immanuel whispered into Officer Creek's ear, "It is sure brave to attack a serial killer who has your kids as captives. But you know what they say; When fear is the constant, bravery goes unnoticed. You'll probably get a scolding for your little outburst and they will completely ignore the fact how much guts it took." 28
Immanuel then released Officer Creek from his hold and sat back down in his seat and continued to stare into the blinding spotlight. 29
"Officer Creek...James...go cool off." Officer Woods pleaded30
"HE HAS MY KIDS!" 31
"I'm well aware of the situation. Be patient, I'll find your kids."32
"PATIENT?!" James yelled in a blind fury.33
Immanuel chuckled and interrupted, "You should listen to Officer Richard Woods. Patience is a virtue which is often rewarded."34
Officer Creek was furious. Every inch of his soul ached and yearned for the blood of this psychopath but his reason knew that this creature's death would lead to his kid's deaths. So he let out a deep breath and exited the room.35
"And then there was one..." Muttered Immanuel to himself.36
"So why did you kidnap Officer Creek's kids?"37
"You need to learn some patience too. Here I'll help you and teach it to you."38
"Please, if you tell us where the kids are maybe I can work out a deal which would delay your execution."39
"Why would I want that?"40
"I don't know. How is a janitor capable of coming up with such complex plans of terror, destruction, and murder?"41
Immanuel laughed his evil laugh once again, "The brightest stars are often obscured by clouds."42
"I think thats a bunch of bull-shit," Officer Woods roared, "I think you just got lucky. I think you, for some god-awful reason, you were just naturally talented at causing pain."43
"Naturally talented? No no no no no my friend. No one is naturally talented. Wisdom is seen, not in what you know; but in what you practice."44
"So you practiced being crazy?" Officer Woods said with a gross taste growing in his mouth, "You are a sick man, and I hope you fry."45
"You are right officer. I am sick, but like all things, there is a reason for my ailment. You see, mental illness is a healthy response to society. It helps buffer those extrodinary people away from ordinary people and raise them up onto the highest platform. It seperates the great from the good. Thats what I do. I eliminate the sheep so that I may reveal the wolves." Immanuel explained with confidence in his answer.46
Officer Woods opened his mouth to let out a snappy come-back but it was cut-short by Immanuel. "No more talking from you officer. Now here is your problem, as I said before my heart-beat is being monitored. If it stops Officer Creek's kids die, if it doesn't (this is where you come in) your wife does. That is correct Officer Woods, my servants have also kidnapped your wife, and if my heart does not stop beating by six o'clock your wife will die. Isn't she pregnant?" Immanuel laughed long and hard at Officer Woods' predicament. Save his wife and unborn child or condemn another man's innocent children. He would surely be sent to hell for whatever he chose.47
There was a slight sound of shuffeling outside, Officer Creek was trying to get in. Trying to save his children. Officer Woods looked up at the clock and saw that it was five fifty seven. Three minutes and counting. A gunshot sounded from outside the door.48
"Sounds like Officer Creek is going to rush in and stop you. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, an officer's family is killed by the clock. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock."49
"SHUT UP!"50
"Love is a decision and a commitment, not an accident. Remember that. Can you make the decision and commit to it to kill me to save the ones you love most?" Another gunshot rang out in the hall outside the door. "Sounds like Officer Creek could, if he gets in here, can you?"51
Officer Woods took out his gun and aimed at Immanuel's head. At that moment Officer Creek, bloodied and bruised, broke through the door, gun at the ready. Officer Woods reaimed his gun at Officer Creek's head, as was Officer Creek's gun at Woods. The two men said nothing, they just stared each other down. That is when the clock hit six, Woods turned and shot at Immanuel, Creek shot at Woods. When the dust settled Officer Woods' was dead with a bullet through the back of the head and Immanuel had dodged the bullet swiftly, condeming Officer Wood's now widow and unborn child. 52
When Woods was shot his gun had fallen from his hand and slid. Immanuel picked it up and pointed it at his own chest. Officer Creek with tears running down his cheeks pleaded with Immanuel not to do anything stupid when.....53

This was very good and very interesting indeed, as many of the comments said. I love this story. And many words coming from a completely insane sycopath's mouth, it was very creative and imaginative!
Good luck in my contest. -
Its interesting and creative but missing something, great job other wise Thanks for entering!!!

The first thing I noticed was that the dialog seemed a bit forced. It just didn't sound real. Most sociopaths arn't thet blunt nor do they tend to let things go so easially. I've never heard of someone with two personalities being able to switch from one to the other that easily either. Plot wasn't bad but I think the story could have been used a bit better.

Very Good.
This is a very interesting and imaginative story. The quotes seemed right, falling from a sociopath's mouth. Makes me wonder about myself....
. I was a church custodian, but I turned into a minister.
I'm impressed how well and how many of the quotes you used. This was both fun and exciting to read. It may not be the best you've written, but it definitely has a chance of winning in this contest. Well done.
Thanks for entering 'Pick A Quote'
.
