A sparrow soars threw the clear blue sky freely. Oblivious of the earth beneath him, he fly’s liberally towards the distance and out of sight towards the vast ocean. I sigh, as the sparrow is no longer in sight with my vision; as it fly’s away without a care in the world.1
“Hey 803 do you ever wonder what’s past the ocean?” I ask towards 803 who is now currently kicking a rock.2
“I don’t know. More water?” She jokes. I grunt in frustration.3
“No, I mean like REALLY what’s out there. We never left this island, and I’m really starting to get curious of what’s out there. Do you think there are more islands? More people? Don’t you ever want to leave this place?” I ask looking towards the vast sky again wanting to be a sparrow. 803 kicks the rock up in the air and catches it with one hand easy, and holds the rock in front of my face.4
“Look 692, we are like this rock. It can’t move and never will without any guidance. Once it lands on land it stays there. We have been put on this island just like this rock and should be smart enough to stay.” She says as she drops the rock.5
“Then screw rocks.” I grumble in defeat. 803 comes over and pats my back.6
“You know, I don’t really get why you want to leave this place. I mean look at it, this place is gorgeous.” She says as she points my head towards the right direction. And she is right; this place is more then gorgeous. The tropical trees are gently swaying in with the light breeze. Splats of vivid color are smothered into the exotic flowers. The scent of the tropical fruits hugs your nose. It takes awhile for you to take it all in. I sigh as I turn to look back at the ocean. 7
“Yeah your right.” I say half-heartedly. Living here for over 14 years, seeing this place once might be breath taking, but seeing it over and over again for years doesn’t make it more wonderful. But this is the only place we go to get away from the cruel WSPA to just let go and relax.8
“Good, you should appreciate for what you have then for what you don’t have. Let’s get out of here, 32 is gonna be pissed if he finds out we left the Academy’s campus again during training hours.” She says as she dashes into the wildlife. I groan and follow her lead. We sprint past the tropical trees, making them look like a giant green blur. The wind hissing in our faces, we focus in on the most smallest flying incest’s and dodge them by centimeters. Not wanting them to squat on our faces. The speed is exhilarating and the feeling is indescribable. A smile crawls on my face as I gain speed, my hair jerking wildly behind from the brutal momentum. Running like its meant to be flying we make it to the campus in less then three minutes, for an hour walk.9
After checking our surroundings, making sure that know one saw us sneak on to campus. We confirmed that our class was still at the Main Square training. Quickly but quietly we snuck around the main building and crawled in through the girls locker room window, landing without making a sound. The locker room was completely vacant; giving each other a quick high five we zoomed to our lockers. Pressing our hands on the cool reading screen, it scanned our handprints swiftly and opened. We quickly changed into our training uniform and hurried out towards the Main Square. As we approached the enormous vast training area 32 appears out of nowhere with his clipboard, shaking his head in disapproval. 10
“692 and 803 out cutting training hours again?” he asks in revulsion as he studied our poor changing with our uniform. We both bowed slightly in unison, to show respect to the two-digiters.11
“No sir, we just had to go to the bathroom.” I say in defense.12
“For twenty minutes?” he asks raising an eyebrow. I open my mouth but nothing comes out. 803 saves me by jumping into the conversation.13
“There was a problem with one of the cubicles so the RC [repair center] had to come and fix it.” She explains. 32 eyes us suspiciously for a moment then leans in.14
“You know, if your going to lie about something you’ve got to be a little more creative then that.” He spits in our faces. I gulp. A smile curls on the edge of his lips, knowing that he got us.15
“As an result of lying to one of the two-digiters, and especially someone that is your own teacher. You will both be punished, by giving me suicide pull-ups till the end of training.” He says pointing towards the two unattractive pull-up bars. Both of our jaws drop.16
“But sir isn’t that a little to much? There is still one hour of training left.” I say taken aback. 17
“Or should I make it including breaks?” He says to himself. Defeated we both walk up towards the bars and attach the twenty pound weights on our ankles and begin the dreadful punishment. As we do the pull ups we watch as the students resume their training directed by 32. They were all learning how to strike a life size rock and splitting it into two. I watched in envy as they all punched their massive rocks and making them crumble into measly pebbles. 18
“Ugh, their all doing it wrong! Their suppose to split the rock into two clean slices, but their all punching it so it’ll blast into pieces. Didn’t they see how 32 did it? You’re supposed to flatten your hand and strike at the rocks most weakest spot!” I grumble as I swing my body and the ankle weights into a 180° turn so I can sit on the bar.19
“Rocks have a weak spot?” she asks, continuing to do the pull-ups. I just eye her.20
After training at the Main Square everyone changes back from their training uniforms to their Academy’s and head towards the Great Dinning Hall for dinner. 803 and me just take our time soaking in our swollen ankles in cool water for the time being, before we head out to eat.21
“32 is can be so cruel sometimes.” 803 moans as she adjusts her ankle in a different angle under the running water.22
“32 is always cruel.” I correct her. After we revived our ankles we wobbled out of the locker room and head towards the Great Dinning Hall.23
“Told you guys lying out of things just makes you end up in more trouble.” 732 says observing our red ankles from behind.24
“Eavesdropping isn’t very polite either.” I give him advice back, not looking back. 732 catches up by our side effortlessly.25
“I wasn’t eavesdropping, I just heard you and 32’s conversation by ear shot.” He says in defense.26
“Aka: Eavesdropping.” 803 confirms.27
As we walked towards the Great Dinning Hall together, I shared my opinion about how everyone was doing the exercise wrong, and instead of slicing the rocks they all busted it. But naturally 732 came in defense and said that busting rocks into a millions pieces is way more cooler then just slicing a rock in half. 803 showed no interest in the conversation. As 732 and I argued over the topic somewhere from behind we heard someone scream.28
“Hey 803 do you ever wonder what’s past the ocean?” I ask towards 803 who is now currently kicking a rock.2

Haha, I really loved it.
So funny, and light <3
I must read the rest [:
Your stories are ace.

-
nice work! i'm really curious about these people so i can't wait to read on!
-
I like the world here,
which is like ours in some ways but strongly differentiated in the way characters behave and in their particular values and concerns. I think that's a key element in fantasy writing.
I also like your dialogue (again).
Nice work,
.PS.. and in my experience writer's block often means we just need some fallow time.
-
Really good, like everyone else is saying. And don't worry, writer's block will go away eventually! =)
-
this is just great!! wow, i hope 32's the one screaming!!!!

-
Your writer's block shall pass, don't worry!

I love this, it's really good. The island sounds beautiful, even though the goverment is training them there.
My favorite part would have to be when 692 says, "Then screw rocks." Hilarious!
Awesome work!!

-
Its kinda funny some sort of way. I love the part where 692 said "we just have to go to the bath room. I enjoyed this story. Goog job!
