An Angel With Black Wings

I walked along the street on the damp sidewalk. It was cold, and it had just rained. 1

"Damn, I'm gonna be late for cram school.." I thought as I trod faster, stepping in a puddle and splashing my jeans. I looked ahead of me, and saw that one of the street light was flickering on and off. I stood on the sidewalk in front of it, staring at the street below. It flashed on, and suddenly there was a beautiful girl standing in the street.2

She was tall, and red and black stockings on. She had stunning red hair, and a Gothic looking outfit. She looked at me, frowning. She looked very sad. Then I noticed amazing black wings coming from her back. She looked as gorgeous as an angel accept for her black wings. The light flicked off, and when it came back on, the girl was gone.I stared at that spot a moment longer, but didn't see her. With one last glance I ran off to cram school.3

At class, I stared out the window, wondering, hoping that I would see the girl with the black wings one more time. To be graced by her beauty once more. Suddenly, I heard the teacher call my name,4

"Anthony!!" He yelled, "Please read where I left off!" I stood up, flipping through the book we were reading and found the paragraph. I took a deep breath and read aloud:5

"I don't wan the world to see me, Because I don't think that they'd understand..."6

"When everything's meant to be broken...I just want you to know who i am." The girl sat on the roof of the school outside the classroom, hanging her feet over the edge. She had sang the words to the song as Anthony read them, and she looked up at the moon. "He thought I was beautiful..." She said to herself, "Just because my wings were black instead of white, everyone hated me." As she stared at the moon, she smiled slightly, "Someday everyone will see that I'm just like the other angels. I'm beautiful in my own way."7

She stood up and spread her wings, and with one last look at the school, she flew off.8

I walked home slowly, staring as I passed the spot under the street light where I had seen the girl. "I'm Home!!" I yelled, going upstairs and throwing my backpack on the ground. I went over to my bed, and noticed a single black feather resting on my pillow. The door to my room had been locked, and so had the window, but someone had gotten in. There was a note tied to the feather with a small red ribbon. I picked it up and read it:9

"Anthony...you thought I was beautiful, even though i'm so different. Thank you. Signed...your guardian angel." I looked over the note, and looked out my window. I smiled to myself, because as I looked at the moon, I saw the dark shadow of a girl, with black wings.

I love the song that inspired this person to draw their picture. And their picture inspired me: http://skategirl.deviantart.com/art/City-of-angels-93517359
