In The Beginning Ch. 4

Gabe and I raced back to the house, but when we got there, it was almost deserted. Michelle was outside screaming at Caleb, and Caleb was so shaken that he started throwing up. 1

I ran past them inside, and there was Tori. She was holding on to Mike and bawling her eyes out to him. He was pretty much carrying her because she was in such a state. I knew it must be something bad...maybe Caleb had said something to her, and that was why Michelle was yelling at him. 2

Then I saw the blood. It was practically covering the floor, getting darker towards where the fight was. I remember thinking that Caleb must have whopped the kid pretty bad for there to be so much blood. Maybe everyone was afraid that Caleb was going to have to go to jail or something. He did have a bit of a temper, but I'd never seen anything like this before. 3

Then I saw someone. Laying on the floor, not moving was Jay. His dark brown hair was matted with blood and he had a thin layer of sweat on his face. He was completely slack, and pale as a ghost. Trudy was on top of him, with her head buried in his chest sobbing. 4

"Oh, Trudy, what happened?"5

She looked up and said "He just stopped moving. Please help me wake him up. We need to take him to a hospital." Her eyes were huge, and she was pale, covered in blood and tears. I grabbed her hand.6

"OK, Trudy. Gabe?! Call an ambulance!"7

"What happened?" Gabe said.8

"I don't know! He's lost a lot of blood. He needs help, PLEASE just call!" I yelled at him. 9

Trudy finally collapsed, unconscious onto Jay. I managed to move her and straddle him. He wasn't breathing, and I still didn't see where all the blood was coming from. There was so much blood. My clothes were soaked, and it was all over my skin. So much blood, and it was everywhere.10
