There is a Girl

There is a girl I know,
Whose skin is white as snow.
Her eyes are pools,
Of big blue jewels
Her hair, blonde and curly.1

She excels in music,
And drama, and sport,
And every subject
She has been taught.
She’s top of the class,
In English and maths,
And the teachers call her ‘darling’.2

But at the end of the day,
We put our books away.
And she sighs,
And her eyes,
Are no longer pools
Of big, blue jewels,
But oceans weighed with sorrow.3

“Are you okay?”
I call from behind,
“I’m fine.”
I’m fine.
And I look into her eyes,
And see through her disguise.4

For there is a girl,
The most popular in the world,
With no one to share her secrets.
For no one understands,
The scars on her hands,
Or her heart, broken in pieces.

Author notes

This is option 4 part one, although a few words from the list may have been used. It is in memory of a girl I knew at school. She has moved schools now, though. Hope you liked it!

I like the description, you conveyed it very well. I like how you drop it on us t the very end, and so the contrast is really visible. Its so true there are so many people out there like this! Well written, and beautiful!

You did well. At first I thought it was one of those nursey stories we read as children. Good job
