Shynii just lay there for what felt like hours before Conal had ended up coming to find her. She was still in the same exact place that she had been in when Cranenii had walked away from her. She looked up at Conal and sighed softly to herself as she sat up and tried to whipe the tears from her eyes and she smiled weakly at Conal trying to seem strong for him.
Conal looked at her and closed his eyes as he then opened them and looked around for a moment. He could see her falling apart in front of him and he felt bad about it, as she was always like a daughter to him and she was all he had at the moment. Conal remained silent for a moment as he had no idea of what to tell her. He saw no sign of Cranenii around and knew that she had failed to keep him from leaving.
"Its probably for the best you know." Conal said softly to her.
"Y-y-yea I k-k-know." She struggled with her words because she was still crying a little.
"You will see him again." Conal tried to comfort her best he could.
"Yea. I h-h-hope so." Shynii said as another tear fell from her right eye and it landed on her paw as she lowered her head and closed her eyes tightly.
"Come on." Conal said with a sigh as he turned and started to walk off.
Shynii said nothing she looked up at Conal and just followed him without even so much as a smile. Shynii and Conal continued walking for hours as Conal tried to break the silence though he could not find anything to say to her. He sighed tensely as he looked over at her for a moment. Conal stopped walking and lied down by a near by tree.
Shynii just lied down where she was and covered her tear filled eyes trying not to cry. Her thoughts filling her head as she wished she could have gotten Cranenii to stay. She knew she was safe with Conal and that he would do anything to keep her safe, but something made her still feel happier when Cranenii was around her.
"I am hungry how about we hunt?" Conal asked Shynii.
"I would rather just rest for now." Shynii replied sadly.
"Alright... You can rest. I will get food for us both to eat." Conal told her.
Conal stood up and trotted off into the bushes looking for some rabbits or other small game that he could hunt down for them both to eat that he could carry back. He sat down and sniffed the air as a familiar scent caught his undying attention. He immidietly turned and ran back to Shynii and barked at her to get up and follow him quickly.
Shynii tilted her head to the side and sat up. She looked around for a moment and smelled the air. Recognising the scent she ran quickly following Conal. When they both came to a stop she looked around for the source of the scent. Seeing off in the distance a bunch of wolves gathered around the Sienna River. She howled in joy and took off running to go see them all.
Conal too ran toward the pack seeing the pack was the one he had gotten separated from a few years back that he was alpha of. His ears perked up and his tail held high to show his high rank in the pack. He stopped and sat down in the middle of the pack while they all howled happy to see him again. Happy to have him back with them all again.
"Its great to see you again, Sir!" Tao shouted.
"Same with you." Conal replied.
"Sir, may I have a word with you alone?" Asked Tao.
Conal nodded as he followed Tao a little ways from the pack so they could speak in private. Tao was giving a sorrowful look as he turned and faced Conal. Conal pinned his ears back as he could feel that what ever Tao needed to speak with him about it was nothing good, what ever it was was going to be bad news.
"How have you been, Sir?" Tao asked getting off subject.
"Tao, you did not want to speak with me about how I have been, what do you really need?" Conal exclaimed.
"Sir, the spirits are getting more restless and destructive with us all and the land. They have already taken over the Griffandecon Mansion and the north parts of the land as well as the East. We are being driven back ward and cornered. They have been seen following Akil and his pack, so its no doubt that he is becoming more controlled by his condition you know? We are running out of things to do ways to deal with this all. We must fight back for once instead of running. There is no doubt that the condition he is in will consume him more then it already has." Tao sighed.
"Are you suggesting? I kill my brother?" Conal asked wide eyed.
"I am not suggesting anything, Sir. I just think we need a more... Well better plan is all!" Tao pinned his ears back and kept his tail low.
"I will never kill my brother even if it was the last thing I had to do to save the world." Conal looked at Tao and then at the ground as he released a low growl and paced back and for growling frustratedly. "Gather a team of wolves, we must have some wolves we can spare to loose if we half too. They will stay here and draw Akil and his wolves away from here while the rest of them are to run to safer grounds so they have a fighting chance to survive."
"Sir?"
"Do not question me, just do it!" Demanded Conal not knowing what else he could do to keep his pack alive.
Tao did as Conal had told him and he took off running to the pack and got together the males that he thought could best stand a possible fight against the spirits, though they could spare to loose in battle if it came down to it. It made him sick to his stomach each time he had to explain it to the males and their families about what was going on. He gathered 2 males as that was all he could find to gather for what Conal needed them for. They all walked back to where Conal was and gathered around him keeping there eyes lowered to show their respect for him and not seem like they were challenging his authority over the pack. Conal looked the males over and by the looks on their faces he knew that they had an idea of what was going on and he he did not even try to smile to act as though it was not what they thought. He pinned his ears back tighter then they had been before and he swallowed hard for a moment as he tried to think of a way to explain it to them, though the words would not come to him. There was six males all together that were there and ready for their duty to the pack.
"Warriors, I am sure you have been explained what is going on." Conal said holding his head high and tail high with worry and sorrow in his eyes. "All warriors before your time had to do their duty to keep the pack safe. I never thought I would half to drag you all to the same point and I apologize for my mistaken thoughts for that. You are all given a mission of trying to lead the spirits and my brother off into another direction then I will be taking the pack. Some of you... All of you could survive that, though I will admit there are chances of other things happening..."
The males looked at each other for a moment.
"It is starting again... The War Of The Gods and The Goddesses again..." Mumbled a wolf by the name of Crune. He was a brown wolf with a tan undercoat to him. He looked at Conal for a moment and lowered his eyes quickly.
"I am afraid it might be. There is always hope for this all to come to an end though, if I could just buy some time for this all to cool down." Conal said to Crune as he looked over at Tao and he had a look on his face that gave Tao an uneasy feeling and Tao could sense Conal was up to something and his eyes widened.
"Sir, no your not thinking of-" Tao cut himself off and shook his head. "Your going to get yourself killed!"
"If it is to come to that you know you are meant to be alpha. You are my friend and I know I could trust you to keep them safe. I am staying here with the other males and I am going to fight. I must fight, it is in my blood and I must choose with side of battle I will stand on. I must protect the pack like father would have wished me too do."
"Sir, please do not do this. Your father was a great warrior and he was trained for doing so." Tao argued.
"Promise me something... Keep Shynii safe and make sure she is lead away from the battle. Knowing her if she found out what was going on she would do something foolish." Conal sighed as he howled up to the sky sounding off for the pack to get moving. All the wolves in the pack all woke up and rushed out of their dens to see what was going on and they all looked over at Tao and Conal. Tao did not say anything to Conal he just turned and started to take off and the pack followed. Tao looked at Shynii and motioned for her to follow as well. Conal and the six males just remained sitting where they were and watched the pack slowly vanish from their site. Their families looked over at them with tears falling from their faces as they preyed for them to return home to them again.
"My friends, my warriors let us wish each other good luck in battle for we shall need this plan to work best as possible and we shall all see each other again." Conal said to them trying to break the silence.
"Yea, we will see each other when we are dead and become one of those things!" Crune growled to himself. The other males kept a straight face and just listened.
"Why would you wish such a thing upon yourself?" Conal asked him.
"I do not wish it I know it. We all know it, Sir." Crune replied.
"Believe me the spirits are not as evil as you think they are. They are just restless spirits from the past battle." Conal looked at the ground.
"Why not tell us of the past battle, you were there you know what it was like. We just have heard faint stories of it from people that heard it from others." Another male said.
"Alright then..." Conal said as he lied down and the other males did the same trying to stay lower then Conal. "It must have been over a year ago. I was still just a pup at the time. It started when the humans started to slowly move in the land and they were fine back then, they and us wolves got along well of course... Until of course one of the Gods... Phantom sought out power from the humans. He had always been nothing more then a power mad wolf and he forced the humans into argument until the humans saw us wolves as nothing more then savage beasts. Phantom thought it funny of course and he just continued to drag us in deeper with it all. Shakti and Urd the two Goddesses and of course Dragon and Icedale the other two Gods tried to settle Phantom down with everything but it all went wrong and turned into a war between them all. Several packs and human villages were rushed into the middle of the war, thousands being found dead of either the battle or just a human accidentally killing them in what they thought defense. I can remember the sky was blood red as the trees and ground was soaked in blood of the dieing warriors. Finally a man made machine with the help of the warriors ended up locking the Gods and Goddesses away though that was a mistake. With Shakti the Goddess of the spirit world locked away the spirits that are roaming the land can not cross over to the spirit world. Without Dragon the God of the sun and moon, we are forever stuck with only moonlight and no sun. Everything is going wrong since they were locked away and there is nothing left for us to do about it." Conal sighed deeply to himself as he closed his eyes and tried to picture himself as a pup before all of the wars, all of the death
"I- I am sorry, Sir. It almost seems as though the war is starting all over again here in a way." Crune let out a deep sorrowful sigh.
"I know it does... I fear that the war is restarting again and that it will possibly become as bad as it was before... Akil is not in his right mind, you half to understand where he stands in this all." Conal replied.
"Akil has a mind?" One of the warriors mumbled to their self and the others tried not to laugh though Conal could tell by the look on their faces that they thought it was funny.
Conal sniffed the air and he could smell that his pack was far away by how faint their scent now was. He could also smell that Akil was coming close to where they were and that they were greatly out numbered. He did not let that get to him though he just stood and started to walk in the direction Akil was coming from. Crune and the other five followed close behind him as they stayed prepared for anything to happen.
"We fight no matter what! We must not let them get to the pack!" Conal shouted as he looked back at the others. They all looked worried and nervious, though he could tell they were not about to give up and let Akil and his pack get past to attack their families.
While Conal was running out of nowhere he found himself being slammed into by his brother. He howled out in pain as he tried to push his brother back and he was just finding himself pinned down to the ground with Akil's sharp fangs sinking into his neck while blood poured out onto the ground. Conal could not move he felt so weak as he tried to heal himself and it was difficult with Akil still on him. Akil would not let Crune or any of the others force him off of Conal. They tried to pull him off, but he just dragged Conal with him by the neck and they tried to slam him down, but Akil had too tight of a grip to let go. Conal's eye sight was slowly going blurry until he slowly closed his eyes until he was just lying there unconscious in Akil's deadly grip. The last thing he could remember hearing was screams and whimpers as he watched the shape of the evil spirits and wolves in Akil's pack ran in his direction, remembering that by how many their looked like there was it was over a hundred of them.
