Moonlight Dancers - A Wiccan Tale - Pt 17

The monitor beeped slowly and steadily in time to Devon's heartbeat. Auset sat by his side, holding his cold hand in hers. His parents were away cruising the carribean, so he had no one except the Carlyle sisters by his side. They had no idea how long he had been under the water, but Auset had guess it couldn't be more than five minutes. 1

A nurse walked in, checking his vitals and writing them down on the clipboard on the end of the bed. 2

"How is he Nurse?" Auset asked in anticipation. The nurse smiled kindly and shook her head.3

"There is no change from last time, I'm afraid, but his signs are strong, and the doctor thinks we might be able to take him off the ventilator tomorrow once his lungs have had time to recover." Auset nodded.4

"Thank you." She said dully and the nurse smiled walking out of the room and closing the door. 5

Auset put her head on her arms and cried as if her heart was breaking.6

Rainy, Amelia and Adriana sat around in a circle in the spell room at the manor.  Auset was still at the hospital with Devon, she had refused to leave his side and they had not wanted to force her. Rainy scowled.7

"It's all very well and good that we're protected Amelia, but what about our friends? What about the people that we love? Do we make bands for everyone?" Amelia shook her head sadly.8

"I don't want to cross the line, and take us into the darker magic. At the moment we are using good protective magic, but I don't want to lead us somewhere we can never return from. We are good witches, I don't want us to turn into something we cannot control." Adri nodded in understanding.9

"But still Lia, what are we to do? What can we do? If we cannot use a spell to banish them, then we're sitting targets." Amelia sighed, picking up her scrying mirror.10

"We need more information, we need to know who the warlocks are."  She closed her eyes centring herself. Then she concentrated on the scrying mirror. Adri and Rainy each put their hands on Amelia's shoulders intensifying the reach of the mirror. All at once Amelia saw a pair of eyes, bright blue, glistening like jewels.  She concentrated harder, trying to see more.  Suddenly the mirror shattered in to millions of shards that covered the sisters. Amelia began to cry.11

"I didn't want to do it, but I don't think we have a choice now. We need back up and we need it now!"12
