Conal Vs. Akil (chapter two: Falling For Heart ache)

Conal for two years tried to find his pack nonstop without giving up, his spirit racing and beating to be with his pack once again. He never so much as found a trace of them though. Cranenii followed him around feeling at home with being near other wolves, though Conal could feel a dark secret hidden within Cranenii, he did not try to stop him from following and did nothing to even try to find out what the secret was for he did not feel comfortable with it, he also did not feel right to try and force it out into the open.
"Conal! How long do we half to keep walking? We have been out here for hours!" Complained Shynii as she followed Conal around the forest.
"Shynii," Implied Conal. "You will learn to hunt and defend for yourself just like all the other wolves for years have been doing so!"
"What does all this walking half to do with hunting or even defending myself?"
"You need to be well in shape Shynii, if some one is to chase you trying to kill you, its best to be in good shape. Also hunting you need to be able to move quickly to catch your prey!"
"Wait just a minute? Are you calling me fat?" Shynii said pinning her ears back and lowering her head.
"Ugh... Females." Conal mumbled to himself as he just kept walking and rolled his eyes for a moment. He looked around and then back at Shynii who still had her head low and ears pinned back as though she was a prisoner. Conal closed his eyes and shook his head. Conal sniffed the air for a moment and then sat down without warning. Shynii had not noticed and ended up bumping into Conal and then falling backwards and landing on her back.
"Hahaha! Why do you not just try and land on your butt next time, eh?" Laughed Cranenii as he stood next to Shynii looking down at her.
"Yea, well why-" Shynii was cut off.
"Knock it off you two!" Growled Conal in annoyance as he looked at them both.
"He started it." Complained Shynii as she walked over to a tree and sat down, that way she did not half to be next to Cranenii.
"I did not start anything girl!" Cranenii said in a high and strict tone.
"Knock it off! I already told you once, now I am not going to tell you again!" Snarled Conal as he looked at them both again and then stood up. "We are getting close to hunters. Their scent is all over the place!"
"Humans? Here? I thought they never came this close to our land though?" Questioned Shynii as she sniffed the air.
"Yes, this is not the first time they have come farther into the land before... Last time was enough for me though..." Cranenii said as he looked at them both with a shadow covered face as he lowered his head to the ground and let out a low growl that echoed around them. His eyes filled with tears for a moment but he just shook his head to try and get the look off of face his and he started to walk off. He looked back at them both and sighed. "We can not remain here, lets get going."
Conal did not refuse to move, he just simply nodded his head as he got up and followed Cranenii, not understanding how he would know the last time the hunters had set foot so close to wolf territory. Conal remembered the time they did and he simply did not like it cause that was the same year that the battle had gone on between the gods and goddesses years ago, the year his father gave his life to protect the pack. His call of duty as some wolves would put it. Conal looked back to make sure that Shynii was following and she was, but very slowly and she was staring off into the distance as she watched to the right of her instead of where she was going. Conal could only think one thought. If she does not look where she is going shes going to trip again like she always does.
Conal looked away from Shynii and his eyes widened big time almost making him look like a huge owl from a front view of his face. He stared off into the distance though Cranenii and Shynii both stood still watching him unsure of what was wrong. Shynii walked up behind him and gently nudged him from the side, but he did not say a word, nor did he move. He stood like a statue there without even a blink of an eye.
"Conal whats wrong?" Asked Shynii in a concerned tone.
Cranenii growled as he looked at them both and then off in the distance where he saw a light reflect off of something and he tried to figure out what, but only one thing was crossing him mind and that it must be hunters with their guns.
"Conal?" Repeated Shynii.
Conal started to snarl as he remained where he was standing and did not respond to Shynii. He pinned his ears back tightly and he lowered his head and raised his tail high. His eyes filled with rage as his blood boiled in him blocking out Shynii and Cranenii both he concentrated on only one thing and that thing only.
"Hunters?" Cranenii asked though he was sure that's what it was. He looked over at Shynii who had a worried look on her face and in her eyes.
"Not now... Not again, I will not let it happen!" Conal snarled to himself it seemed, though he was not snarling at himself. Faint whispering noises filled the air around him and it made his blood boil even more. He looked to both sides of him and he listened to the whispers trying to make out what they were saying but it seemed almost impossible to do. He did not like the whispers cause they made him feel uneasy and when ever he was to hear them they always brought him bad luck. "Leave me alone!"
"Cranenii, whats wrong with him?" Shynii asked.
"I don't know." Cranenii answered as he sat down and pinned his ears back and listened to Shynii released a low whimper of concern.
A gun shot rang threw the air, then another which was followed by one more. Conal snarled louder as a bullet at struck threw his chest. His blood splattered all over the ground and he fell backwards onto his back and then rolled over onto his side. His eyes wide again as he forced himself to stand up.
"Conal!" Shouted Shynii as she ran over to him and tried to help him up. Conal just pushed her back though refusing her help and he jumped up onto his feet all the way and he took off running to find the hunters that were shooting at him, Shynii, and Cranenii. He jumped right threw the bushes that the hunters had been hiding behind and he immediately clenched his jaw down on one of their necks while the other took off running. Conal looked up at the hunter that was on the run and he ran after him. Cranenii and Shynii chased after them both, almost making it look like a pack was after the hunter, though it was just Conal who was.
"Conal, let it go. We must get out of here!" Shouted Shynii.
"Not till I have removed both of the hunters from my land no matter what!" Shouted Conal back in a vengeful tone of voice as he grabbed hold of the hunter's leg causing him to fall face first into a river. The hunter struggled to keep his head above the water and he managed to force his way across the river and grab hold of the shore. "Come back here, you coward!"
"Conal please, stop!" Shouted Shynii as she slammed into Conal knocking him to the ground.
Conal blinked a few times stunned that she would do that. She was never the sort to just up and do that to him considering the point of him being alpha of the pack. Though Conal had pretty much given up on finding his pack again and really wished he could find them. Conal looked at her puzzled for a moment and then sighed as he stood back up with blood rushing from his gun shot wound and he growled in pain as the wound just healed its self as usual.
"You OK man?" Asked Cranenii as he studied Conal for a moment.
"Yea... I am fine." Conal replied he sighed.
Shynii sat down and looked over at the hunter as he climbed back up onto the land and took off running. Conal did not look back and did not say another word to them, he just started to trot off holding his tail high. Cranenii took off after him and stayed close as he felt worried for Conal and did not want anything to happen. Conal and Shynii were the closest things he had to friends since he was a pup and he did not want to loose them now. Shynii saw them leaving and she ran after them almost not noticing until they were off in the distance causing her to half to run to keep up.
The silence remained for miles of traveling on end as they just walked. Cranenii stayed right next to Conal on his right and kept an eye out for trouble best he could, while Shynii just followed from behind them all watching the ground. Her thoughts traveling all over and she only wished that they would not run into more trouble. Conal just looked at them all like they were crazy as he sighed and then went and lied down next to a tree and curled up to go to sleep. Cranenii looked at Conal and shook his head as he went and lied down away from them, but where he could still keep an eye out for them. Shynii saw Cranenii walk off on his own to lie down and she followed him, thinking it would be nice to keep him company for a little while. She lied down just a few feet away from him and she crossed her from legs over each other folded like a human would do.
"What do you want?" Cranenii asked sarcastically.
"Nothing, I just thought I would keep you company is all. Why do you always lay down alone, you could stay over there with us?" Shynii replied.
"I prefer to be alone. I have always been alone my whole life growing up. I can deal with it."
"But, why?"
"I do not know, do you not have something better to do them bug me?" Cranenii growled.
"No."
"Well... Gah! Just find something to do please."
"But I do not wish to do anything else, I just want to talk is all."
"Why not talk to Conal? You too seem close." He smirked with a faint laugh as he lied his head on his paws.
"Conal is like a father to me, even when I was a pup he was the one taking care of me while my father was out on gaurd duty with the other males of the pack while I was left at home with my mom. He would take me on walks and even when my mother died... well you were there, he still takes care of me. I think of him as the father I wish I knew." Shynii sighed as she rolled over on her back and looked up at him.
"I can understand that I guess... but how can you not know your father? Why does Conal seem so up tight all the time?"
"Well... You heard of the great battle that happened years ago between the gods, goddesses, humans, and us normal wolves right?" Shynii replied.
"Yea, I know that battle. What does that have to do with anything though?"
"Because his pack was right in the middle of the battle, we are the pack that served Shakti. His father was alpha of the pack back then and gave his life to protect the pack, the land, and the goddess. Conal has not been the same since... or at least that is what I am told. I do not know the full story or what happened back then."
"Oh, well I guess I could understand that also."
"Yea."
Cranenii stood up as he sighed and looked down at Shynii as she just peirced up at him with a faint smile on her face and she did not move. Cranenii faintly smiled back at her as he felt his heart racing in his chest though he did not understand why. He sat down and looked over at Conal and his smile vanished.
"I am sorry. I think I need to be on my own for a while... It is whats best for all of us anyway." Cranenii said with a deep sigh.
"What? Your leaving me- us?" Shynii said with wide eyes glaring at him.
"Yes." Cranenii said as he watched Conal for a few moments then turned to Shynii and smirked at her as he stood up and started to walk off.
Conal watched Cranenii leave until he was outa site.
"Your going to let him leave?" Shynii asked Conal with a low growl in her voice.
"He is not a member of the pack there for I do not have a say in his choices." Conal replied.
"Yes you do! He has been a friend to us for two years now Conal!"
"There is nothing I can do or even you can do to change his mind about if he wants to leave or not."
"We could at least talk to him!"
"Shynii you can not just change things all the time by talking about it, or dreaming about it. He will be back eventually, hes a loner he can not help it if he feels he must be on his own."
Shynii just growled at Conal for a moment and Conal did nothing as he could understand why Shynii would be upset with Cranenii going on his own and just leaving her. He had felt heartache of his own before and so he could tell what she was feeling at the moment. Shynii just felt Conal was being stuborn though and she did not want to loose Cranenii for something in her was drawing her to him and she could not understand it, but she felt that she had to be with him. She stood up and started to walk off after Cranenii.
"Shynii!" Shouted Conal. "You can not change that hes a loner, your best to stay with me anyway you know I am more skilled at exscaping if hunters were to come."
"I will be fine, I am just going to get a drink!" Shynii shouted back with a lying tone.
Conal rolled his eyes and looked over at the river near him and sighed. Two years of intelegance and that was the best lie she could come up with. Conal shook his head and laughed silently to himself for a minute as he then lied his head on his paws and waited for shynii to return with or without Cranenii by her side. It did not really matter to him as long as she was to return back, cause he did not want to loose another member of his pack that he had already gottan seperated from two years ago and has not seen a sign of since it really rattled his thoughts.
"Cranenii! Cranenii, wait please!" Shouted Shynii as she ran up behind him with a smile on her face and her ears flapping up and down and her eyes did not look at anything except him.
"Shynii?" Said Cranenii puzzled as he just turned around slowly and looked at her and his jaw droped.
Shynii ran right up to Cranenii and tackled him to the ground and she stared him in the eyes as she just stood there above him holding him down to the ground. Her heart racing and she could barely keep her breath.
"Look! You are not leaving us like that! You are going to come back and you are going to help us!" Shynii said to him as she faintly growled though she was not angery she was just frustrated that he could think of leaving her like that.
"Leave us? You mean leave you?" Cranenii laughed faintly to himself with a smile on his face.
"Uh..." Shynii shook her head as she got off him and backed away a few steps and sat down with her tail rapped around her. "Stop putting words in my mouth. Just do not go!"
"Look, I am sorry alright. I just am not the sort you need to be around you. I got things I have to take care of Shynii."
"But, I do not want you to go." Shynii said with a whimper as a tears filled her eyes.
"You got Conal to take care of you, I will return sooner then you think Shynii." He said as he nuzzled her gently and then turned and started to walk off.
"Cranenii... please..." She said mumbled as tears fell from her face and she lied down placing her paws over her eyes so she could not see him walk away from her.
