A Lesson On Lying

Christine is an adorable 8 year old girl that loves to help her Mommy even when she's not asked. She would do anything to make her Mommy happy but there are times when Mommy is not so happy with Christine and that is because Christine sometimes lie. 1

Christine knows in her heart that lying is wrong but she feels that her Mommy will never know when she tells just one little white lie. Now one day Christine was playing house with her dolls and she remembered her Mother's pearl earrings that was given to her one Christmas by Christine's father. Mommy told Christine never ever to touch those earrings becasue she knew Christine would either lose them or forget to put them back and Chrintine promised never to touch them. But as Christine play with her dolls some more she decided they would look even prettier with those pearl earrings and she vowed to put them back when she was finish. So while Mommy was washing dishes in the kitchen, Christine ran upstairs to her Mommy's room to get the earrings. A little while her Mommy called for her.2

"Yes Mom," she said smiling. Her mother knelt in front of her and brushed her curly hair behind her ears.3

"Daddy and I will be going out later so we will be leaving you at Grandma until we get back. We wont stay out late so we'll come and get you tonight, ok?"4

"Ok," Christine said with a bright smile. She loves her Grandma and couldnt wait.5

"Now go pack what you want to take with you to Grandma's while I go get ready. Your father will be her in about an hour." With that said Christine hugged her Mother and ran to her room to pack her favorite blanket, her favorite bear and her toothbrush. As Christine was about to run to her Mother's room she heard her mother called her name and her eyes got wider because she had forgotten to put her mother's pearl earring back where she found them. She was about to turn around when her mother spotted her.6

"Hold it right there" she said. Christine slowly turned back around and faced her Mother.7

"Have you seen my pearl earrings?". She concentrated hard,"Pearl earrings, pearl earrings...No I cant say I know what earrings your referring to." She lied.8

"The ones your father gave me for Chritmas."9

"Ha, yes those. No I havent seen them."10

"Are you sure," her mother asked suspiciously but Christine shhok her head no. Now Mother was getting a bit upset because she wanted to wear those earrings and she looked and looked and looked. Meanwhile Christne was down stairs with them wondering how to get them back to her mother's room without getting caught. She was looking at them when her father walked in and she quickly hid them behind her. Her father looked at her knwoing something was wrong but before he could get the word out she started crying. Her father hugged her and rocked her back and forth until she was calm enough to talk. After she was finish telling the story her father asked, "you know what you need to do don't you?" she said yes. So she dragged herself to her mother's room and handed the earrings to her.11

"Why did you tell me you havent seen them?" her mother asked.12

"I didnt want you to be mad at me because I promised not to touch them."13

"But sweetheart, I know you promised not to but you should have told me instead of lying."14

"You dont love me anymore." she said with her head down. Her mother lifted her head and wiped her tears.15

"Cupcake, I will always love you no matter what you do but you need to understand that lying is not good. You should never ever be afraid to be honest with me or your father matter what. You understand?" she nodded yes.16

"Now because you lied we will have to punish you starting tommorow. Now come and help me to get ready. Your father is waiting." Christine hugged her more so tight." I love you Mommy."17

"I love you too Christine."

Aw, cute story. I found a couple of grammar mistakes, but other than that, it was really cute.
