Physics blues and other things romantic

Twirling a curl around her finger lazily, Flynn tried her best to concentrate on the book laid out in front of her. When Noah had asked her on a study date, she had no idea that he literally meant there would be studying. And only studying. Allowing her eyes to drift form the history of physics to the freckled face of the boy in front of her, Flynn’s mind began to wander from dates and names to something different entirely. 1

Noah looked up at her and smiled that smile. The one that made Flynn momentarily loose the ability to do most things. The smile that invaded her mind at all the wrong times. The smile that sent her head spinning in almost always the wrong direction from where it was supposed to be. 2

“Wanna get out of here,” he asked her, motioning for the door with a slight jerk of his head. 3

Flynn smiled at him and began to pack up her things. He did the same and soon they were on the outside of the stuffy library, where the world had sound. Beautiful, noisy, sound. Flynn breathed a sigh of relief and Noah laughed. 4

“Not in the mood for studying were we?” 5

Flynn shot him a teasing glare and he laughed again. A huge laugh that left a tingling sensation traveling all over her body, finally ending towards the small of her back. Reaching his hand out, Noah slowly entwined his fingers in Flynn’s and began to lead her away from the library. To where, Flynn was both unsure and uncaring. Anywhere with Noah was fine. 6

They walked for blocks and blocks, past small shop fronts and children playing sidewalk games. They walked until the sun had settled low in the sky, casting a soft pink glow on the world. 7

“Where are we going?” Flynn finally questioned him. 8

“You’ll see.” Was his reply. 9

Flynn complied and continued their journey, her hand never leaving his, even as the strain of the walk began to appear apparent on both their palms. 10

They continued their walk, until they reached a park. The perfect park, in fact. By this time the sun had disappeared, and been replaced by a full moon. And along with the moon, Flynn soon found out, the stars. Noah led her to the direct center of the park. At which there were no trees, no sand, and no playground equipment. Just an empty patch of grass. He lay down and softly patted the ground beside him, gesturing for her to join. She did so, following his gaze to the sky, and immediately felt the long trip was worth it. The stars above encased them both in a world that belonged to no one else, and Flynn felt her heart swell. 11

“Oh my” she whispered. “It’s amazing.”12

“And so are you…” Noah replied, wrapping a strong arm around her shoulder and bringing her closer to him. Their lips were seconds apart. Her forehead was resting gently against his and she stared into those eyes of his, and just as she could feel his lips so warm on hers…13

“Flynn. Flynn…wake up.” She flicked her eyes open lazily to see Noah’s worried face gazing at hers from where he sat across the table, at the library. “You fell asleep.”
