A Patient of Concern...

“No don’t!” shouted Karin, wriggling around. 1

“Please calm down,” shouted the Doctor back. 2

Karin looked up at the faces surrounding her and the needles the nurse was holding. She went to stick one in.3

“No!” shouted Karin. 4

The needle got close to her skin, and Karin struggled to get free, but the needle still pierced her skin. 5

“If I’m asleep, he’ll get me no!” shouted Karin, getting sleepy.6

“Who is she talking about Dr. Thead?” asked the nurse.7

“She is talking about her son, she says he tortures her…” the Dr. trailed off, walking out.8

Karin frantically looked around, still trying to get her arms free, and tossing her body around. Her eyes darted left and right, looking for any sign of him. As she slowly started to fade to sleep, she saw two red eyes looking down at her, and a fanged smile. 9

“No!” shouted Karin, falling asleep.10

She woke up in a deep sweat. 11

“What who?” she asked, jolting up. 12

She looked and saw a little boy looking down at her.13

“Hi mom,” said the little boy.14

“Hello Fang!” shouted Karin, hugging her son. “My baby, how are you?” she asked.15

“He is there and his friends are over also!” said Fang, almost in tears. 16

“It’s okay baby,” said Karin, stroking the boy’s hair.17

“How is Tina?” asked Karin. 18

“I’m watching her, just like you asked,” smiled Fang, proudly.19

“Now you better hurry, they’re gonna give me some bad stuff,” said Karin, hurrying the boy along. 20

The boy nodded, and left, leaving a kiss on Karin’s head. She smiled and looked up at the ceiling. After a while of quiet, she looked down at her arm, and she saw the hole from where the needle pierced her skin. She saw some black around the hole, and started to trace it up her arm. As she followed it up her arm, she realized her whole vein was black.21

“Doctor!” she shouted.22

No one answered.23

“Doctor!” she shouted again.24

Nurses passed by the door, and laughed, seeing nothing wrong.25

“Look at the poor woman,” one whispered. 26

“Yeah, they think she has battered wife syndrome, we haven’t been able to contact any of her family,” answered another. 27

Karin watched them as she walked off. 28

“Help,” she said in a low tone. 29

The black started to crawl up her arm, and she could feel it going up into her neck.30

“Help!” she screamed. 31

She felt as it continued to crawl up her throat, she started to scratch at it frantically, choking over tears. She looked up and saw her oldest son staring down at her smiling.32

“NO!” she screamed. 33

Finally a doctor made his way in.34

“Yes,” he asked, in an uninterested tone.35

“My vein,” cried Karin, pointing at her bleeding throat. 36

The doctor stared at her, and saw nothing but the blood, no black or anything, just her blood slowly traveling down to her collar bone. 37

“Nurse!” called the doctor. 38

“Yes?” asked the nurse, rushing in. 39

“We need to move her to room thirteen,” said the doctor, walking out. 40

The nurse looked at Karin, and nodded.41

“First we need to get you cleaned up,” sighed the nurse, walking past the bed to a cloth, and dipping it in some water. 42

Karin looked up at her, her pupils small, as the woman ran the cloth down her neck, wiping the blood. Karin stared at the woman’s face, yet out of the corner of her eye, she saw Octavian.43

“NO!” she screamed going frantic.44

“What?” asked the nurse looking up, she saw nothing, “We better hurry with you…” she mumbled, placing the cloth down. 45

The nurse strapped Karin down to the bed, forcefully of course, and started to move her into room 13.46

“Here you go,” said the nurse, closing the door, and undoing the straps. “This is your new personal room,” smiled the nurse walking out, and locking the door behind her. 47

Karin looked around. The room was white, nothing in it, just white. 48

“What?” she asked herself, walking towards the door. 49

She watched as all the people walked by, some looking in at her, some laughing. Karin found the door handle, and started to pull on it, but to no avail. It wouldn’t budge. She turned back around, and sat down on the floor. She sat there for what looked like hours, when she looked over to the door, and saw someone’s back facing her. 50

“Hello?” she asked, walking over to the figure.51

Karin placed her hand on the tall person’s shoulder, spinning them around.52

“Hi mom,” smiled Octavian. 53

“NO!” screamed Karin. 54

The room was silent for a long time, when the nurse decided to consult the doctor.55

“Dr. Thead,” called the nurse.56

“Yes?” he asked, turning around.57

“I’m worried out Patient hasn’t made any noise since we put her in room thirteen,” said the nurse.58

“Then we shall check on her, I guess…” said the Doctor, walking down the corridor towards Karin’s room.59

The nurse trailed behind him, biting her nails, afraid for the worst. 60

“I bet she is fine and you are just over reacti---” the doctor was cut off, when he opened the door.61

“Oh my!” he said.62

There in the corner was a bruised and beaten Karin, sitting with her knees curled up to her chest. Her head was hung, and blood was dripping from her mouth to the floor. 63

“Karin?” asked the doctor, walking over to her.64

He put his hand on her chin, lifting her head up. He cringed a bit. She looked up at him, a smile on her face and tears in her eyes.65

“Doctor?” asked the nurse.66

“Get the staff ready!” he demanded rushing out.67

“Okay,” the nurse said, looking down, and carefully helping Karin to her feet.68

The nurse helped Karin towards another room. Karin’s head was hung down, but out of the corner of her eye she could see people whispering, pointing, and confused. She was being led into a surgical room.69

“Get the patient ready!” Karin heard, being strapped down. 70

Karin did not put up a struggle this time.71

“Ready for the prefrontal lobotomy?” asked a doctor.72

“Yes,” answered another.73

Karin’s eyes opened wide, and all she could do was stare up. 74

“Ready!” said a voice. 75

Karin stared up, and saw… Octavian, smiling. A tear streamed down her face.76

“So what ever happened to her?” the nurse heard a voice ask.77

“She died right in the room…” answered another.78

The nurse looked down, sad. 79

“Poor woman,” mumbled the nurse walking to Karin’s old room. 80

As she walked into the white room, she looked around and searched for any items. Once she saw nothing was there, she headed for the door. She went to grab the handle, when the door shut on her.81

“What?” asked the nurse, pulling at the door. 82

“Hello,” smiled a tall boy, looking at her. 83

“What the---AHHHH!” she screamed.84

No one came until they saw an odd red splatter on the door of the room. The nurse’s body lying there on the floor, a smile on her face….
