First Kiss

"I am not doing this, you can't make me either." Tanna turned around from her spot at the gym door to face her best friend, Eric.1

"Why not? You told me you would help me, so help me." He replied.2

"Yes, I said I would help you, but that was before you told me you wanted me to kiss you, in front of your girlfriend, I won't do it. It will hurt her feelings." In reality, Tanna did not care one ounce about Eric's girlfriend, Annie's, feelings. She cared about her own and she knew that if she kissed Eric her feelings for him would grow and she didn't want them to.3

"Come on, Tanna, we both know you can't stand her either, I've tried breaking up with her. The girl can't seem to take a hint." Eric replied, peaking through the door to where Annie was sitting with all of her friends, making fun of a freshmen sitting alone at an empty table. 4

"You were the one, who decided to date her, not me, so why should I have to suffer?" Tanna said, glaring at him, but knowing on the inside that she wouldn't be suffering at all, she would be in heaven. 5

"If she sees us kissing, she will break up with me, for sure." Eric said, shutting the door again, drowning out the music as he did so; they were at their Junior Prom, Eric had brought Annie, of course, and Tanna had gone alone. "Come on, Tanna, please, pretty please. How much harm can it do?"6

'More harm than you know.' Tanna thought to herself, but even as she thought this she knew she would give in, the pleading look Eric was giving her was enough to tell her that. "Alright, fine, let's get this over with."7

"Ok, let's go, but first mess up your hair a little bit." Eric said, making her glare.8

"Why?" Tanna asked.9

"Well, Annie saw us come out here, so if she sees your hair all messed up..." Eric began to speak, but stopped talking when Tanna pinned him with a glare.10

"What? She will think we were kissing out here. Well, then what's the point of kissing in there?" She asked him, looking for any way out of this situation.11

"Insurance," he answered, grabbing her hand and leading her back into the dance. "Ready?" 12

Tanna's mind was screaming no, but her heart was giving another answer, she went with her heart, "Yes." She saw Eric look over his shoulder to make sure Annie was watching, felt his arms around her waist, she looked up to see his eyes focused intently on hers, he lowered his head, making it level to hers, then , he was kissing her.13

Tanna had been kissed by other boys, but never like this. Her lips felt like they were on fire, as they moved with Eric’s. She had been right before, this was heaven, she knew she would always consider this, her first kiss.14
