Edward Elric [How To Save a Life] -Chapter 1-

"Ed...Ed...ED!!" You yanked your wrist free, glaring at the blonde boys back. Edward turned around swiftly, glaring back at you. 1

"What?" he asked sharply. You winced visibly at the tone of voice he used, and as Edward noticed, he lowered his head, muttering a small 'sorry'.2

"Where are we going..?" you asked quietly, staring at the ground, holding your wrist tightly. Edward sighed and plopped down, nodding his head at you, signalign for you to do the same. 3

"I need to tell you something.."4

'Step one you say we need to talk5

He walks you say sit down it's just a talk'6

"Okay..." you sat down on the grass, the green blades gently pricking you. He looked at you, and you stared back. 7

'He smiles politely back at you8

You stare politely right on through'9

It was silent for a bit, and you looked around at all the trees and houses, before smiling at Den, whom was near the window in Winry's house on your right.10

'Some sort of window to your right'11

"(y/n)..." You turned to Edward, seeing his golden eyes turn a serious shade of amber. "Yes, Edward?" you spoke softly.12

Edward gripped the grass, looking up at the sky, collecting his thoughts, and after a few minutes, you spoke up once again.13

"Anytime now, Edward."14

Edward snapped out of his trance, and nodded, looking back at the sky.15

"Well, you see...it's about Al and I..."16

"What? What about you guys?" you questioned curiously.17

Edward hesitated for a bit, before gulping. "Well, we're sorta going away for some time..."18

You blinked, before leting out a few chuckles. You hit Edward on his arm playfully, and shot him a look. "Oh c'mon, stop with the jokes. Seriously, what is it?"19

"I AM serious, (y/n)." You stopped laughing, and stared at him, his face straight, eyes narrowed slightly.20

"...How long?" Edward blinked, cocking his head to the side. "Huh?" was his oh so smart reply.21

you smiled faintly at him, and repeated your question. "How long? How long will you guys be gone? How long till you return?" 22

Edward grew stiff, and he looked at the ground. "I don't know..."23

"What do you mean 'I don't know'?? Surely you must know, this IS you and Al going!"24

"I know! But we don't know how long it'll take for us to return to our original bodies.."25

you sat silent, before speaking up once again. "So that's it, huh? You two are going off to return to your original bodies..."26

Edward turned to you, and cocked an eyebrow.27

"Yeah, what about it?" You snorted, and gave him another look.28

"You two are fine way you are!!! What need is there to return to your original bodies??!!! And why, WHY leave your friends, and WHY leave your family??!!"29

Edward snapped, and stood up, glaring at your harshly.30

"FINE?!TELL ME WHAT'S SO 'FINE' OF HAVING A SUIT OF ARMOR AS A BODY, AND METAL LIMBS!!!! TELL ME!! AND WHAT FAMILY??!!! MOM IS DEAD, AND DAD IS JUST SOME CHEAP BASTARD WHO LEFT MY MOTHER TO DIE!!!!!"31

You were taken aback by his sudden outburst, but sprang to your feet also, and glared back just as equally.32

"ED!! DON'T YOU KNOW??!!!! DOES IT REALLY MATTER HOW YOU LOOK LIKE ON THE OUTSIDE???!!! DOES IT??!!! AND YOU DO HAVE FAMILY!!!! YOU HAVE WINRY! PINAKO! DEN! ME!"33

This time Edward snorted, crossing his arms.34

"you don't know how it feels like to be a suit of armor, now do you? To not be able to enjoy the every day events of living..And you guys are NOT my family.."35

Your breath hitched in the back of your throat, and your eyes widened as you stood there stiffly. Edward gave you one last fierce glare as he turned his back on you, walking away.36

'As he goes left and you stay right37

Between the lines of fear and blame38

You begin to wonder why you came'39

"No..don't go..please..." you whispered, tears prickling your eyes. You clenched your fists, and ran to him.40

You grabbed his sleeve, and turned him around.41

"Edward! Please, don't go!"42

And the next event happened so quickly, but it shocked you greatly.43

One second, you were holding onto his sleeve. And the next, you were on the ground landing roughly.44

Your eyes widened even more, as did Edwards.45

"(y/n)..."46

He lifted his arm and went to help you up, but you slapped his hand away, hot tears streaming down your face.47

"YOU CAN GO AND BURN IN HELL ED!!!!"48

You stood up, turned your back and running off, hiding your face.49

Edward stoof there, his hand outstretched to your disappearing figure as if you'd come back to him, taking his hand.50

'Ed...I'm so sorry..if only I could have prevented you two from trying the forbidden...I'm so sorry...'51

'Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend52

Somewhere along in the bitterness53

And I would have stayed up with you all night54

Had I known how to save a life'55
