Grief Stricken Eyes

The street lights flickered as an icy wind blew, streets were deserted not a single car or person in sight. The moon was full but no stars filled the sky, thick mist covered the air. A small black cat ran out into the street looking round franticly but as soon as it saw what it was looking for it vanished. Gone never to be seen again, just like everything else in this town.
An old oak stood tall in the middle of a park, sheltering a girl from the rain. She sat there holding her knees to her chest and her head down, a book and pen next to her. A rustling came from behind her but she did not move, she didn’t dare as footsteps came closer breaking the silence. A hand was placed on her shoulder but again she didn’t move, just continued staring at the ground.
“You shouldn’t be here.” A calm voice warned.
“I should.” She replied coldly but did not remove her gaze from the floor.
“There are things here that would harm you, you need to leave.” The voice came again.
“Why are you warning the person you are warning people about.” She said again in a monotone but still as cold voice. She wanted to look up, let him see her empty blue eyes filled with grief and sadness. But they never notice the grief or the sadness just the colour and knowing that soon they’d be gone, gone because they looked into the eyes of Deyanira Shaman. He stood there paralysed for a moment then ran, he had met her. He met the cursed one, the bringer of death, Deyanira Shaman.
Once she was sure he had gone she looked up and stared at the moon, probably one of the only things that wouldn’t die away as soon as she looked at it. Her eyes had only one colour, a dark blue. But unlike most people think they weren’t empty they were filled with great grief and sadness.
Deyanira had killed the whole town, though she wasn’t meant to. When she looked at them with the empty blue eyes they vanished, at first they didn’t know it was her. Who’d suspect a baby? But when she became older it was more obvious, she would be just walking down the road when someone looks at her then the vanished.
One by one everyone vanished, they couldn’t send her to jail because she could easily escape. So they evacuated the town or what was left of the town, leaving her there alone without any food hoping she would just die so they could carry on with their lives. Somehow she managed to stay alive, like every life she had took made her stronger and now that she is not eating she is just feeding of the life’s she had taken. Soon she’d run out, then what would happen?
Deyanira stopped gazing at the moon and turned her attention to her diary and pen. Looking at it for a while she finally picked it up and started to write. 1

The last few people have finally left and soon so will I, where I'd go I do not no. I'm running out of lives and I have no more food, though I'm not that sad. At least if I'm gone people will be able to live in peace again and not have to worry that they might accidently look at my eyes, why I was given a curse like this I do not know. I once talked with someone at the church, he said that this is a gift given to me by God and that I should be thankful for it. Bet he regretted that one week later.2

The pain is so strong
I didn’t think it would last this long
I'm no longer the same me
There are so many tears that I’ve cried
Sorry that I lied
But no one ever notices
The girl behind the eyes
So delicate and frail
I'm no longer the same me
But changed into the monster you all wanted to see
The bringer of death
The eater of life’s
How long will it take?
Till I can take my own
And leave this everlasting suffering
This everlasting grief
How long will it take?
Till I can finally go home3

She put the pen and diary back down and leant against the tree, the air had become thick like fog. Difficult and painful o breath in. A dagger like feeling was stabbed through her heart shattering it into millions of tiny pieces.
“Thank you.” She whispered with a small smile as a tear of relief rolled down her cheek, she let her eyes close and fell into an eternal sleep.
