Let's make this plain and simple. A "crime against humanity" is the inability to accept people for who they are, or, to make it easier, persecution without all the facts and won't listen to the rest of the facts. Do I know people like this? Yes, I do. Might or might not live with these people, but there would not be any excuse to find the reasons to why people are who they are.1
I'm not saying you need to accept everybody (though it would be nice if we did), but it does help to go opposite the crowd and find out why the soon to be Sophomore talks to a stuffed animal that might talk back, instead of mocking her and avoiding her. Helps not to belittle the soon to be college freshman when he's really a good spirit deep down inside. Or what about the girl who stares at trees? It would be nice to, instead of mock her, try to find out why she does. You can't help people, nor can you stop them from what they do in life. If you wouldn't like the person, just...if you have to see them, grin and bear it. Hey, people might actually want to know the reasons...to befriend them. I mean, you can't make them say yes to you..all you can do is try...or not...2
Really, in plain English, don't lock people away for who they are...try to embrace it..and maybe you would succeed in the challenge. Isn't everyone one?
