He rode hard, the buffalo beside him trying to escape. He pulled back on his bow,and loosed an arrow at the beast skull, but it continued to run. Three arrows later it finally fell. He dismounted from his pony and drew forth a razor sharp skinning knife and set to work, a red moon in the sky above him. As he was finishing up, he looked up to see three riders wearing blue uniforms and brandishing long knives riding hard at him. He quickly leaped up on his horse and fled as quickly as he could, but with his mount tired from the buffalo chase, they were faster than him. He drew a bow from his quiver, and expertly turned around to fire an arrow. He hit his target, one of the troopers falling from the saddle. He pressed on, shots sounding behind him, none hitting him. He once more fired an arrow at his pursures, though this time he was not so lucky, the arrow over shooting the calvery attacking him. He began to draw another arrow when his horse was shot out from under him by a pistol ball. He rolled on the ground a few times, and raised up to see a glint of steel come at his neck. He ducked, pulling a bowie from his waist, and throwing it at the back to the trooper, striking his heart with the big knife. He ducked, looking for the last trooper, than spotted him rushing at him, carbine raised. He looked for his bow, only to find it shattered. He looked up to the red moon, and asked the great spirit to aid him as a shot ran through his head. He fell, and the trooper rode on1
