Three Faces of Paul Atreides

Arrakis—Dune—Desert Planet. Echoes in the mind of Paul Atreides. He gazes upon it from space and something inside whispers, “Destiny.” But the Golden Path waits in shadow and he is only a boy.1

Arrakis—Dune—Desert Planet. Echoes in the mind of Paul Muad’Dib. He spies the Sardaukar slaughtering in sietches and something inside cries, “War!” But the Golden Path is still obscured and he is only a man.2

Arrakis—Dune—Desert Planet. Echoes in the mind of the Emperor. He watches his legions raid distant worlds and something inside weeps, “Extinction.” But the Golden Path is set and he is only a figurehead.

Oooh, nice! I've seen Dune and Children of Dune on the SciFi Channel, and the faces this conjures are clear as day. I think I've missed the Dune Messiah part though, but I can see where it goes.
I like the repetitive nature of this drabble, like a chant, a murmured oral tradition, lest the children forget Paul Atreides.

Thanks for the read. =D I saw the Sci-Fi miniseries (both), too. Dune Messiah is actually the first "part" of CoD, as far as the series went.

An excellent sci-fi genre drabble. I liked the evolution of this man as he progresses through his life - each stage a different facet of his personality and an 'echo' of how he sees himself.

Thank you for entering and good luck!

I did not understand this in anyway. However, I re-read this a few times an I kinda got the picture. Adn the "Golden Path", to me, seems like life. Adn he is only a boy... As either a man or figurehead in the other paths.

    good job. ^^
