"Let me try" John said, removed the axe from the man, and the chopped again, the axe falling down on the mans chest. We could both hear bones break and we both saw the enormous amounts of blood that spilled out of the mans body, but the man was still alive, still screaming.
"These fucking undead bastards" I said, walking out of the room.
"Where the fuck are you going... Jake... Jake?" John asked, not wanting to be left alone with the screaming man.
"Just wait here a second, make sure he doesn't get up" I said, walking down the hallway from the room and out into the kitchen where we had left all our equipment.1

"What's in the bag?" John asked upon my return. Instead of answering, I opened the bag I had brought, and took the chainsaw out of it. "Good thinking" John said, nodding.
"Yeah, let's see if this thing can't get the bastard to shut the fuck up" I said, starting up the chainsaw. The man on the bed was blindfolded, and had calmed down a little now, not screaming and shaking as much as he had just a couple of minutes ago, but at the first sound of the chainsaw, he started worse than ever.
"Here" I said and tossed John a pair of protective glasses, I put a pair on myself too.
"What are these for?" John asked. I just looked at him, the stupid look on his face.
"You'll see soon enough"
As I brought the chainsaw down on the mans throat, he started gurgling at once, blood shooting out from the new wound and from his mouth. Chunks of flesh hit both my and Johns protective glasses, upon which John gave me thumbs up. I kept pushing the chainsaw down into the mans throat, almost getting all the way through before he suddenly broke his restraints with both his hands and feet. In a jerky movement he got up, and the surprise made it impossible for me to avoid his spastic arms, and he knocked me into the wall as he got up from the bed and started running out of the room and down the hallway. I noticed that I had fully severed his head off, and it was lying on the pillow of the bed still, blood gushing out.
"Fuck that... Go get him!" I shouted to John, who was just standing there looking stupid, blood and chunks of flesh still running down his face and white shirt. My shirt was bloody too, and I was glad I had left the jacket in the kitchen, cause that thing was expensive... But with the pants also ruined by the blood now, the whole set would be unusable. I cursed, as I took my handgun up from my belt.3
John ran first, but didn't seem like he knew what he was going to do, so I ran past him. The mans headless body was now in the living room, still running around like an epileptic blind man with a seizure, shaking around and knocking things over. The tv had just fallen to the floor, and he had knocked several pictures down off the wall. He then ran into the wall, decided that it was a bad way to go, turned around and started running again. All the while, blood was squirting out of his multiple wounds, most of it shooting out of his open neck as if from a fountain.4
I aimed my gun at him, and fired, multiple shots. Three of them entered the body, two went straight through it, leaving open wounds and large bloodstains on the wall. The last bullet missed entirely and hit the only window in the room, shattering it almost completely. The raving body must have somehow picked up on this fact, as it dived "face first" through the window and into the cold night air.
"Get out, get out! Stop it!" I shouted to John, as he was standing between me and the way out. This time he was more determined though, and ran on first as if he knew what he was doing. He ran out of the main door, and we both followed the blood trails from the window and into the nearby forest.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me..." I said, shaking my head. We were just about to run into the forest when the spastic body came running out again. A dog was now hanging from it's left foot, teeth closed around the feet of the bleeding headless body that had an axe sticking out of it's chest.
"That's not a very picky dog" John said, and giggled like a little girl. I looked at him strangely for a second, before I started to run after the headless body again. 5
"King... Where are you King? Come here!" someone suddenly shouted from within the forest. It had to be the dogs owner, beyond doubt. He ran out of the forest, a shotgun in his hand, he was a hunter. But before he could react however, both me and John had fired our handguns, sending the hunter stumbling back into the forest, leaning back towards a tree, then sinking down to the ground, dead. I signaled for John to stop the body and the dog, while I ran into the forest to get the hunters shotgun. I picked it up, took a few shells from the hunters coat, then loaded the weapon and ran back after John and the body. I ran all I could, and soon caught up with the parade. I aimed the shotgun, and shot at the body again. The powerful blast sent the body flying through the air, his guts flying around him, the dog still hanging from his leg. Then he landed, got up, and kept running. A large hole was now present in his gut.
"Shoot his feet!" I shouted over at John, he was a little bit closer. But John had never been a good shot. I could see him aiming at the right leg of the body, then shooting and hitting only the dog hanging from the left leg. The dog fell off the body, dead like its owner.
"You killed King" I said as I caught up with John and ran past him towards the still running body. I fired the shotgun again, hitting the bodys left leg. The leg disintegrated in places, and was shot straight off the rest of the body, landing several feet away. The body slowed down, but jumped around still, getting closer to the house where it had all started now. I reloaded while running, and shot again, this time sending the right leg flying, finally stopping the body. It just lay there a second, bleeding all over, headless, legless and with too many wounds to count. Then it's arms pushed against the ground and started pulling itself forward. I sat my foot down in the middle of the gut-wound, stopping the torso from moving again. John came over to me exhausted, but smiling.
"Go get the chainsaw" I said while reloading the shotgun.6

"There, finally" I said, standing in the kitchen of the house again. John was sitting on a chair, blood and sweat all over, chainsaw in hand. I was next to the bloody sink and garbage disposal, where we had just finished grinding up the last part of the runaway body. It's heart had kept beating until it had been cut in half and grinded into a pulp.
"I never knew hunting vampires would be like this" John said.
"Yeah, tell me about it... decapitation and stake to the heart my arse" I agreed.
"How many are left, tied to the other beds?" John asked.
"Ten or twelve I think, all those we caught yesterday" I answered.
"It's going to be a long nigh" John sighed.
"Oh yes indeed" I agreed, as I took the chainsaw from his hands and walked down the hallway.
"We'll better get started"
Author notes
Red is the color here, represented by all the blood... But I admit that I had started writing this before thinking about the contest at all... So I won't complain if I'm DQed or something, cause it's not really all about a color, is it? Oh well, I hope it's accepted into the contest ;D
Wrote this cause I thought there were just a little bit too much romanticized vampire stories out there, often featuring very caring vampire lovers and such... I just wanted to show someone having to deal with these beasts, hehe =) Feel free to leave a comment ;D

This was fun to read. I'm always a fan of zombies and undead, and this was a cross between a bloody, bloody murder, and fun humor. I laughed.
I'm not sure this was much of a fight though. Aren't fights supposed to be two-sided? Oh well. It was still a fun, gory read. -
Firstly, some typos:
First Paragraph - A large axe was bueried deep in his forehead- Should be - buried deep in his forehead.
Last paragraph - "It's going to be a long nigh"
Should be "It's going to be a long night"
Unfortunately, you didn't read the rule before you entered. Two things wrong with the story: You didn't put you and your friends name in your AN. And there was to be only real people in the story, no vampires, werewolves or mystical creatures.
Please either enter another story (Word limit been upped to 2000 max.), or remove it. Sorry for the inconvenience caused but I am very strict on rules. -

Can't see how I missed the rules, sorry about that

Well, this was alright. I think it could have been better. A good bit of fiction overal. A little more plot would have done wonders for this. A few spelling and grammar errors that if fixed would make this a lot more readable but otherwise it was a fairly good story.

had some spelling and missing punctuation, but i loved this story
though i would be on the Vampire's side usually, this was great to read, and almost comical to imagine. Very well done
Thanks for entering! i really loved this! D

Thanks for your entry into the Go for the Gold contest. Given a choice between hanging out with the vampires and these two vampire hunters, I think I would take my chances with the vampires. The hunters came off a bit irresponsible in their mode of operation and without any real concern for the innocent man and his dog that they killed without blinking an eye. It sort of makes them as bad an evil the evil they are fighting.
At the same time, as much as I grew to somewhat dislike the "righteous" in the story, I like the approach you took to a topic that is quite overwritten in recent years. The only confusion that I found with the story is the reference to them being the "undead". While that is an accurate descriptive of a vampire, as a stand alone reference it indicated something more like a zombie and that type of undead is not really known for bleeding so much. Since it was not clear until the end that you were referring to vampires, I was sort of wondering why so much blood.
The ending was a bit of a surprise mainly because of my confusion in the beginning so it all worked out well, I think.
Best of luck in the contest. -
Haha! Funny! Nice depiction of "red"!
Good luck in the contest and don't stop writing!

this is too funny excellent work.

Dude. This was seriously twisted. Hilarious, especially the end, but I'm not kidding; this was effed up.
Great writing style, and the story was cool!

Hmmm...well, I, too, like the romantic vampire stories, but found this story very amusing. It did remind me of something Tarentino would do. There were some typos and some wording that could have been reworked, but overall it kept me reading. I think the plot and characters could use some more depth. Still, that being said it was a solid story.

Hah this made me laugh! Not laughing AT it, laughing cause I found it funny..
Er.. yeah, I'm a sick little fuck.
Anyways, I saw one thing where you said and a few too many times. A few typos, too, but overall, I liked this alot ^-^
Good luck in your contest =]

inter..resting... I think honestly more detail, more plot... but it was interesting. I might actually be a fan of the romantic vampires...

Creepy.
Well written, yes, very attention-keeping style, but creepy. -
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Very well-written, and rather gory.. lol! I enjoyed this a lot. Characters could do with a touch more depth, like when they kill the poor dog, perhaps a little remorse would make it more realistic, but on the whole, I thought it was amazing! I hardly ever read gore, but this was... wow. XD, keep at it!
