"Let's look in the attic!" Alicia said as she ran to the stairs that lead to the attic. "I don't know, you'll never know whats up there, there may be spiders." Said Mandy, Alicia's older sister. The family of five were moving into the lake side house on the edge of Lake Riler. The family consisted of Tom and Claudia, and their three children, Jake who was fifteen, Mandy who was twelve and Alicia who was nine.1
"Can we please look in the attic to shut this kid up!?" Shouted Mandy. "I guess so, but you guys be careful, i don't know how that flooring is up there." informed their father, Tom.2
So Jake, Mandy and Alicia headed up the stairs for the attic. They got up there and opened the drop down door. Once they had climbed inside, they'd never seen anything so dirty and disgusting in their life. Jake went down stairs to get a flashlight, as Mandy and Alicia stayed right by the drop door. Once he had got back with a flashlight, they saw dust over everything. They saw unending boxes of junk. But there was this one box that stood out, it wasn't like any other, it wasn't cardboard, it was like a treasure chest. 3
As Jake very carefully opened it, he looked inside and couldn't believe his eyes, he had found a box of pictures that a family left behind. They were up in the attic for hours looking through the pictures, there were pictures of vacations, dinner parties and a bunch of other occasions. Once Claudia had gotten up there, they had found a picture from a party. When their mother saw the picture, she grasped the picture and stared in awe. The girl in the picture was beautiful, she looked about thirteen or fourteen. "I wonder how old she is now." Said Jake. "Well...judging by the clothing I'd say she's dead." replied Claudia.4
"WHAT?!" Exclaimed Jake. As Claudia explained everything, Mandy noticed something was still in the chest. It was some sort of book. A diary! She dusted it off and looked at the front, and read out loud "Property of Juliann Summer." "This must be her diary Mom!" 5
They sat down and looked at the entries, this was unbelievable. The dates were all the way back to 1898. As they read more and more the more they became more interested to find out more about the house. So they called a Realtor the next morning and asked him about the house, this house was made at least in 1855. And it was the year 2000. Once they had gone into the attic and looked at everything, Mandy decided to keep a picture or two and put them in her room, and she took the diary too. But little did she know that it would disturb Juliann's spirit.6
A couple nights later Mandy was sound asleep, it was a school night, almost about midnight when it happened. She heard this soft voice "Mother dear, I can't find my diary, it's not in my chest." Mandy sat straight up in her bed, and looked around, but she didn't see anything. So she layed back down. She heard the exact same thing again, but louder. So she opened her eyes, and there, right in front of her, was a white figure, in a nice white dress with brownish hair pulled back into a pony tail and it was all curly. She knew it was her, Juliann. She was looking for her diary! But Mandy wasn't about to let this bother her slumber. So she fell back asleep.7
The alarm clock went off at 5:30 AM. Mandy got up like it was a normal day, she went out into the living room and there on the table, was the diary, but she had specifically put the diary on her dresser in her room. That's when she knew she wasn't dreaming the night before. "MOM!!" screamed Mandy. "What, what dear what's wrong?" Asked Claudia. "I had put the diary on my dresser and mom, its here on the table now! i had a dream that the girl, Juliann came into my room and took it, or something, but she was yelling at her mom, asking her where it was." That's when her parents knew it too. The house was haunted.8
