Living The Dream 5

Sam pulled into Rainbow parking lot. There indeed was Tonya's Hummer. Sam walked over and Tonya hopped out.1

"Hey Sam. Hop in."2

"Hey Tonya. I sure will."3

"Wait before you get in."4

"Huh? What?"5

"Ah never mind."6

Sam's heart skipped a beat. She thought it was something else. She climbed in the Hummer and sat there staring out the window. Tonya got in. She fiddled with her keys in the ignition. She didn't start but didn't even look at Sam.7

"Tonya ya alright?"8

"Umm...kind of.."9

"Let's go some place where we can talk."10

"Alright. Where?"11

"The Lake."12

"Which one?"13

"Susque?"14

"Sure. Yeah let's go."15

Tonya finally started the Hummer and pulled out. Sam's mind raced. What was going on? What did she have to say?16

The moment was about to come. The lake drifted closer into view. What was going to happen? Sam thought. This was getting hard to bare. She knew Tonya was hiding a secret. Could she tell me Sam thought. 17

Tonya stopped at the lake side and shut off the engnine. She put the keys in her pocket and got out. Sam followed. What were they going to do? Skinny dip? I would like that too much Sam thought.18

"Nice pants Sam."19

"Ah thanks. They are my favorite."20

"Sam?"21

"Yeah?"22

"Your seem alright with your sexuality."23

"I am open with who I am. I like it. I am who I am. I am who I always will be no one can change that."24

"Yeah but how do u do it? I mean some can't handle what others say."25

"Strength. You have to be strong. Not let people tell you otherwise. You are who God made you to be. No one can change that."26

"Yeah but with this whole career aren't you afraid?"27

"No the people will love me. I am sure of it. Come on I already got a number one fan."28

Sam chuckled. Then she turned and faced Tonya. They looked into each others eyes. Then Sam spoke.29

"Tonya are you a lesbian?"30

Tonya's face flustered. Sam turned to advert her stare or a slap that she might get across the face. But that didn't come. She looked back at her again.31

"Sam....How could you tell?"32

"By the way you acted and what you said the other night. About why I kissed you on the cheek like you wanted it to be somewhere else."33

"Wow that obvious. Huh?"34

"To me it was. Maybe because I have good gaydar."35

Sam and Tonya both chuckled.36

"It's nothing to be ashamed of Tonya. Does anyone know?"37

"Not that I know of. Only you. I mean it's hard for me to tell people. My songs give a clue. I haven't dated in like a year now with this music and stuff going on. Tours and autographs signing."38

"Tonya it ain't good to hide it. The longer you do the harder it is to come out. Ya know? It's like your living a lie."39

"Yeah I know. I just am afraid of what people will think." 40

"Don't be. Tell them. I could be with you when you do it. If ya want me to?"41

"Oh that would be nice. Since you started out now and all. Would you do a show with me?"42

"Yes I would love to. That would be awesome. It will be my dream come true."43

"Alright sounds good."44

Tonya took Sam's hand. Then quickly let it go. She continued to walk. Sam followed. Her heart was racing. So close but yet so far from what she really wanted. Sam wanted to reach for her hand and pull her into her arms. She couldn't though. What if she wasn't interested in her that way? She kept her distance. She couldn't risk it.45

She watched Tonya's hips move from left to right. The perfect ass. Round and tight. Sam stuck her hands in her pocket. 46

"Come on. Mind over matter."47

Tonya stopped.48

"Did you say something Sam?"49

"Umm...Nope..It wasn't important."50

"Alright if ya say so. Want to sit down by the water?"51

"Sure I would like that. We could talk more."52

They walked down towards the water. Tonya sat down. Sam stood by the waters edge staring out over the water. Hands still remained in her pocket. She felt Tonya's eyes just staring at her. She turned around looking at the ground. She walked over to where Tonya was sitting and sat down. She scooted away. She didn't want to be close to her and risk doing something that would jeopardize what was building.53

"Come on Sam. I don't bite. Well actually I do but that is a whole different story." 54

Sam blushed and laughed a little. She scooted next to Tonya. She placed her hands in the grass. One on each side. Sam stared out in front of her. Then Tonya's hand touched hers and she almost jumped out of her skin. She looked over at Tonya. Her face was warm. Her skin soft. She couldn't bare it. Just pulled her hand away.55

"Did I do something Sam?"56

"Oh know it wasn't you. No not at all. It's just..Never mind."57

"Come on Sam it's fine. You can tell me. I won't be mad at you or anything. Sam?"58

Sam got up and walked away. Tonya got up and ran after her. Sam took off when she that Tonya was caughting up to her. Tonya caught up fast and tackled Sam in the grass. Sam laid underneath her as she pinned each arm to the ground.59

"What's wrong Sam?"60

"Why does it matter? What I'm thinking could never be."61

"Why do you say that?"62

"Come on you know it couldn't. What would everyone think?"63

"Someone once told me not to care what people think. To be your own person. To be who you are."64

"Yeah but this is different."65

"How is it different Sam? When two people like each other. Shouldn't you go for it?"66

"I want to but I don't what to scare you away or anything."67

Tonya got inches away from her face and whispered.68

"You wouldn't be able to scare me away."69

She ligtly touched Sam's lips with hers. Sam closed her eyes. This was unbelieveable. She opened them and look up at Tonya. Her farm tan arms surrounded Sam and she couldn't move. So she gave in and finally kissed her.70

The kiss was passionate. Lasted a long time. Until finally Tonya broke it and looked into Sam's eyes. She kissed her again and got up. She extended her hand and helped Sam up. Sam brushed herself off. They walked back to the Hummer. This time hand in hand.
