What Goes Around, Comes Around (2)

“Are you ready to do this?” Allie asked.1

“I think so,” I said into the phone.2

“So you know what to do to Connor tomorrow. We set up the entire plan.”3

I gulped, not sure if I could go through with it. Allie sighed, irritated.4

“Ok,” I finally said, more to myself than her. “I’ll do it.” I could almost hear Allie smile.5

“Good. Tomorrow,” she reminded. “Don’t forget.”6

After we hung up, I laid back in my bed and stared at my ceiling. How was I going to do this?7

My heart beat loudly as I closed my locker, waiting for the correct moment. Until then, my mind chose that time to wander and think about how this would turn out. Would I really be able to go through with this?9

As I turned the corner, I saw Connor. Rage filled inside of me that I couldn’t control it.10

I ran over to him and shoved him against the wall. I cupped his face in my hands and I did the unexpected.11

I kissed him.12

Connor pulled away and stared at me. He rubbed his lips with the back of his hand and gave me a confused look. “What was that for?” was all that escaped from his mouth.13

I stood there, dumbfounded.14

Unfortunately, Nicole came out from behind me and put her hand around Connor’s waist. “Hey, babe,” she said, knowing very well that I was right behind her. I glared at the back of her head, wanting to smack it. “What’s going on?”15

Connor looked over her shoulder at me and smiled. “Nothing,” he replied. He took her hand and walked away.16

Nothing that just happened was part of the plan. I didn’t know what had come over me.17
