Fly away

This is dedicated to all the mothers who had to let their babies go for freedom. This is also dedicated to all those who fell trying to fly away and those who feel before they even got a chance to lift their wings. To them I promise "never again"1

Author notes

During the Holocaust many choices were made and many parents had to sacrifice and let their children leave them to face the Nazis when they came. They did what they had to do so that some children could survive

    Im a guy and it is not oftern I am brought to tears, But I was brought to tears with this poem: it is just astounding: so profoud and beautiful...such hope lies within this work... brilliant

    Oh man, okay, this one brought tears to my eyes. So good! I know you wrote it for the Holocaust but it made me think of mothers today as well. Great job, thanks for the entry!

    It's a great and poetic metaphor. I love the repition at the beginning of every stanza. It reads like a song.

    wow....this is talking about some very, very tragic times in history, and you have described it in a beautifully melancholic way. I love your concept of flying away for freedom. Maybe, someday, we will all be able to reach it.
