Meet Samantha

My name is Samantha, but online I go by not_done_baking. Give or a take a few underscores. The name is weird, but unique and definitely not a name that is going to force you to put a few numbers at the end. That was one of the key factors in deciding that that would be my new username a few years ago.1

But the bigger factor was the point in my life; I was changing. I was trying to figure out who I was (and I still am.) 2

The name comes from a pivotal moment in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode. Buffy is talking to Angel, her first true love. As much as Buffy wants to be in a relationship... there's just one problem.3

""I'm cookie dough. I'm not done baking yet. I'm not finished becoming who ever the hell it is I'm supposed to be. I make it through this, and the next thing, and the next thing, and one day, I'll turn around and realize, I'm ready. I'm cookies. And then, you know, if I want someone to eat... or, enjoy warm, delicious cookie me, then... that's fine. That'll be then. When I'm done."4

And that's the thing, I need to figure out who I am before I commit to anyone or anything. It's an ongoing process and might make me miss out on a few opportunities but I don't feel like I can figure out who I am in a relationship if I don't know who I am individually.5

My image does not relate to my username besides it being me. My best friend drew it for me for Christmas and I cropped it to the icon. The full picture has me in my trademark tank top, book, pen and the scribbles known as my poetry surrounds me.6
