Chapter 1 Calafornia.1

Me and mum had flew from Europe all the way to Calafornia where are new home was also where my mums new job was with her new friend Rob. We have been at are new beach home for about three hours and mum was still unpacking are stuff i was exloring the garden and house, it was amazing like a huge villa and the garden was really cool with fountains and a little maze i would definatley have fun here. My names Ally im fourteen and came from Europe where i was born i live with my mum and have done all my life i dont really know any thing about my dad i dont feel as if i need him to be honest me and mum have never heard from him, and whenever i bring him up to mum she just ignores me or makes up some pathetic excuse its obviouse it was complicated with them and it didnt work out so i dont bring him up much.2

I found out we were moving here when mum lost her job and met Rob who lives here in Calafornia mum knows Rob through a friend and he told her he had the perfect job here in Carmel, Calafornia it was a beach job and all she has to do is tell people infomation on trips like the glass bottom boat and a ride on a jet ski then if somebody wants to do it she has the keys and thingy ma bobs to make it happen. So anyway here we where in are new home i had explored the wonderful new home and mum had finished packing so we decided to go and get some fish and chips from the front.3

"Mum really i want to go and explore Carmel beach not sit outside a greasy chip shop eating cold chips" i moaned five minuites later. "There will be plenty of time for exploring tomorrow for today we just want to settle in right, is'nt it great here much more exotic than boring old Leicester eh" said mum. She really annoyed me when she was like this i knew i was being unfair but i could'nt help it. After the greasy fish and chips we walked to Robs house to get the key for mums shack where she will be working. "Hello Alice hows it hanging" said Rob. Dont ask me why he was trying to act cool its some weird idea of his that if he acts as if hes my age then he gets to be my friend well he is so wrong. "Hello Robert smashing day here in Carmel dont you thing jolly good" I gushed. Mum rolls her eyes at Rob as if to say dont let her get to you, well i will get to him im fed up with him trying to ruin our family by asking my mum on dates and flirting with her and the thing that confuses me is she doesnt turn him down and she accually giggles when he flirts with her it really is annoying seems as so she is like thiry four or something old like that.4

I had just about had enough by then i said to mum that i was going for a walk because it was getting late and i wanted to get some fresh air she only let me because i was being to noisy while she was filling in some paper work. It was really warm outside considering that it was about ten thirty. I sat down on a sunbed that had been left on the beach and looked out to the black as tar sea in front. It was rippling against the rocks and frothing up at the edge, there was'nt a single wave it was all so still and peaceful. There was some rocks quite far out and the buoyes where bobbing along like heads in the sea. There was'nt a soal in sight nobody swims this late especially not in the sea i was so tempted to go in myself because it would have been so cooling but i knew that if i did i would be in serious trouble with my mum for getting my clothes wet and i could'nt take them of because there was still some people walking along the front. There was like some magnet pulling me towards the sea i felt a real longing to swim in that cooling water i took of my shoes and walked towards the waters edge i had never been in the sea before because me and mum lived in the midlands of england we didnt get a beach of course i had gone swimming, but never had i been swimming in the sea. I stood and thought about this for a second, why should'nt i have a swim it is hot after all and is are first day here mum is so excited surely she wont get mad at me for a litte dip. I decided not to after a long think it wasnt worth it plus i would be able to go in tomorrow possibly, so for now i decided to just paddle. I stepped into the cooling black water it was so cool and refreshing. The water lapped up my ankles and i felt a weird sensation to just jump in and swim and swim and just keep swimming till i came to an end but i knew i could'nt so i backed out and went to turn round to get my shoes when at the corner of my eye i seen something or someone in the water quiet i distance away they were staring in my direction with eyes like a full moon i didnt get the full details of its appearance because when i turned round it was gone and it couldnt have been a bouye because there wasnt one any where near, i was about to turn back to go home and forget about it even probally get into bed it had been such a long day, when i seen it something jump out of the water a long long way ahead in the sea it jumped like a trapeze artist did a mad sort of twirl high in the air then dive back into the water, i was so shocked i stood there transfixed at the place where it had jumped. But what had it been what could have been so powerful and graceful to have done that it was.. abnormal, could'nt have been a person that was absurd. Maybe it was just a seal or something because it definatley had a tail of some sort. I think i'l just forget about it not menton it to mum she'll just say it was a seal as well.
