My Escape

You’re my escape;1

my friend when life is too much to take.2

Even though we haven’t talked face to face, 3

it feels like I know you; 4

for you're so kind and true. 5

We make a connection from miles away, 6

We bond in a different place and time;7

always on each other’s minds. 8

Will we ever meet?9

Will I ever see you smile at me?10

I have no idea,11

the future is the thing that I can’t foresee.12

But I want our friendship to stay; 13

to never change, come what may. 14

Author notes

I was just thinking about my friend, Dave(davidc), who I met on Story Write, and I wrote this.

What do you think?

great poem! One thing that humans just cant live without is friends, and you picked a very good way to show appreciation of your friend.

    Hey, this is great.

This is an earnest expression of gratitude for the good people we meet online. I really enjoy the people I've gotten to know and it's nice to see you expressing it in a simple and heartfelt way. Such things are best simply spoken from the heart, which is exactly what you did here. I like the genuine feeling that pours from this. Good job.

Just one suggestion: maybe put a comma: "to never change, come what may..."

        Hey, me too.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance and I hope this not to be the last of many pleasant exchanges.

    Line 8...

I am sure you meant 'minds', instead of mines, which tend to blow up if you fondle them, smiles....

That distant friendship drew 'pen-pals' from around the world in an earlier time before the internet and fulfilled a need, as do distant friends here and there.

Well done, nicely expressed and thank you for the visit...I have not been around much of late, a moderator bit me...grins...

    Amicus...
