I woke up to the doorbell ringing. I slipped out of bed as gently as I could so as to not wake Alex. I slid into my bathrobe, and went to answer the door. I opened the door to see Amy standing there. “Nice outfit, is that what you always wear to answer the door?” she chuckled.1
“Oh shut up Amy. What are you doing here so early, and on a Saturday?” I gave her a puzzled look.2
“You guys still want another roommate?” she asked. I looked down and finally noticed the suitcase in her hand.3
“We still have that spare room. What made you change your mind?” I asked as I stepped aside to let her in.4
“My mom and I had another fight this morning. She called me as slut and slapped me.” She rubbed her check.5
“So what you just left?” I didn’t know if her being there was a good thing or a bad thing anymore.6
“Kinda, I told her just what I thought of her and she told me to get my shit and get out,” she shrugged.7
I looked at her in disbelief for a minute. I had been the one to see Amy at her lowest. I knew better than anyone what it would take to push her over the edge, as well as I knew that her mother was the only one who could ever push her that far.8
“I know that’s not all of your stuff, is that all she would let you take or what?” I asked looking at the single suitcase that she had sat down by the couch she had sat down on.9
“Oh this is just what I grabbed this morning, I have till the end of the week to get the rest of my stuff. My mother doesn’t think I will find a place and that I will come crawling back to her before then. I didn’t bother to tell her that I already had somewhere to go.” She was laughing, I wasn’t sure what all her mother said, but I was sure that it had made something in Amy snap; and it was a good thing.10
Then I started to jump up and down and scream realizing that there where no strings attached that Amy was moving in and her mother wasn’t going to try and stop her.11
“What the fuck Sarah, why the hell are you screaming at eight in the morning?” I turned to look toward the hallway and saw a sleepy looking Alex standing there in nothing but his boxers.12
“Hi Alex, guess what?” he jumped slightly from shock at the sound of Amy’s voice.13
He wiped the sleep from his eyes, yawned and said, “What?”14
“I’m moving in.” It took a second for his brain to start working finally it clicked. You could almost see the light flash on over his head.15
“What did you do to get kicked out?” it never ceased to drive us both crazy that he wouldn’t let a person beat around the bush even for just a second.16
Amy visibly blushed, “Well…um…you see,” she sighed she knew that there was no way to not tell us. “She caught me with Blade this morning.” She paused, and then finally it clicked.17
“Oh my god, you two sleep together?” I was shocked.18
“And you got caught?” Alex asked, standing there in disbelief. She just smiled a guilty smile; a silent answer to both of our questions.19
