Black Winged Angel Ch. 1

I remembered it so well. It was like a dream, but I couldn’t wake up. Memories flooded my mind like an angry mob, though they seemed so distant and unknown, that I wasn’t sure if they belonged to me. The last thing I remembered were people in white, crowding around me, calling me a "failed experiment" and being carried away, followed by a woman screaming and sobbing. Recalling that moment, I remembered I was but just a small child...1

“Henesis…Henesis!” I stirred slightly, but ignored the notion to open my eyes.2

“Henesis…” My eyes fluttered open to reveal a blurry figure in front of me. I heard a rhythmic tap on the glass surface that surrounded me, quickly becoming irritated because of the vibration that pulsated through water. As my vision settled I was able to get a better look at the figure in front of me.3

It was a man cloaked in a red trench coat, whose hazel eyes scrutinized my every movement. The length of his chestnut brown hair met the middle of his cheek and covered part of his face. He placed a black, leather gloved hand across a panel of controls that released me from my "cage".4

I collapsed onto the floor, unaware of what just occurred. The man bent down and caressed my face. He seemed so familiar to me, like I’d known him my whole life, which at this point couldn’t have been long.5

How long have I been in that thing? I wondered to myself.6

“Henesis?” the man addressed me. I stared blankly at him.7

“Is…” I stuttered trying to get reacquainted with my voice. I started again.8

“Is that my name?”9

The man in red chuckled. He embraced me. "I guess you really can’t remember anything…can you?"10

I shook my head in confusion. He began again.11

“Your full name is Henesis Christiana Rhapsodos,” he continued, “and I am Genesis Rhapsodos. I am your brother,” he finished. I stared at Genesis, taking in what was just revealed to me. Genesis, I thought. His name sounded familiar, yet alien to my tongue.12

“How long have I been in…in this thing?” I pointed at the glass tank that once concealed me. He thought about it for a minute.13

“Well," he started, “I think it was about ten years” he said nonchalantly.14

“Ten years!” I cried.15

“But that would make me-“16

“Fifteen," Genesis finished for me.17

    Very nice...well-written, empathetic, original...bravo.

    One correction:
The next-to-last line of paragraph 3: "...the vibration that pulsated as though through water." As though it what?

    Again, bravo
