Serena walked gracefully down a street in New York. The sun had set hours ago, but she had always been a night walker. She felt completely confident in her new blue vintage Burberry coat and her beautiful light blue silk slip dress. Her shoes had been purchased at no other place than Bendal's and they glimmered brightly in the moonlight. Serena's eyes were large and blue, like they held the depth of an ocean, secrets and all in them. Her lips were perfect and red, while her hair was a silky blond that fell halfway down her back with a light wave. Serena was tall and slender, and her skin had the slightest tan. She was the type of girl that every guy wanted, but she only had eyes for one.1
She sat down on a bench and crossed her perfect legs before taking a sip if her caramel latte. She glanced up at the moon and imagined herself being with the one person she wanted more than anything, but she hadn't exactly discovered who that was yet. Serena was beginning to zone out when she heard footsteps approaching. She closed her eyes, forcing herself not to stare at the handsome boy that was walking by, but as if fate had planned it, the guy tripped over Serena's blue Burberry purse and fell into the nearest bush. Serena shot to her feet and raced over to where the guy had disappeared. She leaned over into the bush, holding out her hand to help him up, but instead his foot caught hers and she ended up falling in, landing on top of him.2
"I'm so sorry!" Serena whined, sounding distraught.3
The guy forced himself out of the bush and turned around to give Serena his hand. At first Serena looked unsure, but then she excepted it gratefully, allowing him to haul her out.4
"Are you alright?" the guy asked politely while helping Serena over to the bench so that she could sit down. 5
"I could ask you the same thing, but yes..I'm fine." she replied sweetly.6
The person she tripped was a tall, broad-shouldered guy, with short light-brown wavy hair and glittering green eyes. His skin was tanned a nice golden brown colour and his lips were an apple red. To top off his gorgeous face, the guy had a square masculin chin. Serena stared up at him in disbelief. Was this guy for real?
He was wearing a pair of Helmut Lang jeans with a black polo shirt that clung tightly around his muscular chest, while overtop of it was a black leather jacket. Serena pinched herself to make sure this was actually happening before realizing it was.7
"What are you doing?" Serena asked curiously when the guy continued to stare. 8
The guy let out a shy smile. "Falling into a bush and dragging the prettiest girl in New York with me." he replied with extreme amusement and embarrassment.9
Serena let her lips curl into a perfect smile before fluttering her thick, black, mascaraed eyelashes. The guy thrust out his hand.10
"I'm Thomas."11
Serena gently took his hand, "I'm Serena."12
Thomas looked down at the ground and then frowned.13
"Well that's no good. I made you spill your drink."14
Serena chuckled. "That's okay...I can always buy another."15
"Or I could buy one for you?" Thomas asked hopefully.16
Serena was used to guys throwing themselves at her, but Thomas seemed different. 17
"Uh...okay I guess that would be fine."18
Thomas tooked like he wanted to leap into the air, screaming with joy, but for Serena's sake...he didn't.19
Instead helped Serena up from the bench and picked up her purse.20
"Is this the new Burberry purse?" Thomas asked kindly.21
Serena's pretty red mouth dropped in shock. Was he gay?22
"How would you know? You're a...guy."23
Thomas nodded, but didn't look the least bit embarrassed.24
"My parents are...well let's just say my family has a lot of money. My sister Lily has had her eye on that purse since the day it came out, but my parents wouldn't allow her to get it. They called all the stores forbidding them to let her to purchase it. I live in a large house on the Upper East side of town. My parents attend every important function and party, while my sister and I have been forced to follow in that tradition. We both attend private schools, but this is my final year." 25
Serena stared at him with disbelief.26
"Wow...your life is so..."27
Thomas broke in, "so complicated? so...perfect?"28
Serena shook her head, "No, so...like mine."29
"My parents are rich and so was the rest of my family for as far back as I can remember. I also live in a large penthouse on the Upper East side of town. My house has an elevator and almost every room has its own bathroom. I know that must make me sound spoiled, but being rich can really suck. My parents don't care what I do, so long as I don't embarrass them or the family name. I can smoke and drink...or even do drugs without them caring. I know most people would think that's awesome, but I just want someone to care."30
Thomas nodded his agreement, "I know what you mean. My parents don't care what I do. For example...I'm out here with some stranger in a park at two-thirty in the morning."31
Serena's dark blue eyes locked with Thomas' green ones for a moment, before both faces began to blush.32
"How about I treat you to that drink now?" Thomas asked. 33
Serena nodded as Thomas passed the Burberry purse to her.34
Thomas began to walk and Serena followed, but before she had taken three steps, her right heel broke.35
"Ouch!" Serena shrieked as she began to fall. 36
Thomas caught her just as he was about to hit the ground and then proceeeded to pull her up.37
"Are you okay?" he asked sounding concerned.38
Wasn't this night just peachy?39
Serena nodded, "Yes, but my new shoes aren't. How am I supposed to walk now?"40
Thomas took a look at Serena's shoes.41
"May I?" he asked politely looking at the right shoe.42
Serena nodded. "Be my guest..."43
With that, Thomas slipped her right shoe off and sbapped the remaining heel off.44
"Hey! Those were my best heels!" Serena protested.45
"Now they're your best flats." Thomas argued.46
He once again to a strong hold on the shoe, slipping it back onto her delicate foot.47
Just like Cinderella, only this man made her feel more important than a princess. With Thomas, Serean felt like the world, and the world was everything.48
It was so nice when she got what she wanted.
And right now what she wanted was a coffee.
A coffee and maybe some delectable lips to smother. . . preferably Thomas'.49
She just loved a fairy-tale ending.
