Adventures of the Mind, CHAPTER 1

Dressed in all in camoflage and wearing a tin foil hat, she slinked down the hallway, taking all percautions not to be noticed.1

But, for some reason people wearing tin foil hats stick out, and soon everyone was laughing.2

Danielle stood watching from a doorway, but waited a second to see what Kori was up to this time.  Finally, because Kori was too busy peaking around a corner to see her, she walked up to her and tapped her on the back.3

"Stand back Purple Monkey!" Kori screamed while turning with a pen ready in hand to stab.4

"Take it easy! Whats all this nonsense about?" Dani shook her head then gasped at the hat on her head and put her hand to her mouth, uttering, "Josh didn't break up with you did he?"5

Kori frowned and said "Its much more serious then that."  She looked both ways down the hallway, then whispered,"Can I tell you a secret?"6

"Of course you can! I'm your best friend," Dani replied, ready for some juicy secret to run off and tell the first person she sees.7

"Well," Kori began, still whispering and looking like she held the secret to time travel in her hands.  Or, time magazine at least, "The government has them...I know it!"8

"Has who!!!??" Keely runs in and Kori screams again and takes out her pen, Dani pulls her arm down and turns to Keely. "I think that Kori is experiancing technical problems with her cerebrum and needs some time to rejuvinate her mind."9

Keely stood there for a moment, then whipped out a dictionary.10

"cerebrum...a part of the brain...rejuvinate...to replenish something you own...crap." Keely whipped out a childrens dictionary and continued, "replenish...to fill up something you have to the fullest again.  OMG!! Kori's having a freakout and needs time to fill up something she has to the fullest again!!!"11

"Um, yea...precisly." Dani replied with an confused look on her face.  Keely went to whip out the dictionary again but Dani stopped her. "It means yes," she said, as Keely started to cry.12

"Don't worry, don't worry, not everyone knows what that means." Dani comforted her, then looked around for Kori.  13

"O no." She started, as she realized she didnt know where she was.14

"What now?  Off to tell everyone that I can't READ!!! I know you are don't lie!!!" Keely sobbed again into Dani's coat but Dani shrugged her off.  "For Justins sake you can read I just dont know where Kori went!! Shes in a very fragile state of mind and might combust at any moment!!"15

"You just want me to cry don't you! I knew it, let me cry!  I'll just hide in my locker all day and cry until I can't cry anymore...we can have it your way just let me-"16

"Wait, thats it!!!"  Dani ran and threw open the nearest locker and there was Kori, clutching a map and charting out a map to some place called area 51.17

"Come on" Dani pulled her out and Keely looked her over with a weird look on her face. 18

"I dont think she looks like theres a technical problem with her cerebrum." She said, lifting up Kori's arm to look for defects there.19

"Because I don't!!!!" Kori shouted, backing defenslessly into a wall.20

Dani approached cautiously, and decided to take a different approach.21

"Kori, do you want a cookie?" She tried...ready for the full blow of screams.22

Kori's face brightened, but then it sadened, and she started to cry.23

"They arn't getting any cookies where they are, there locked in a cage and are being beaten with cats and sausages..." She started sobbing and Keely looked around the hallway, then said, "Kori, tell us whats wrong and maybe we can help you."  But Kori only sobbed louder and Keely took her shoulders and spoke directly to her,"Kori, can you answer some questions for us, then maybe we could help you."  Kori shook her head up and down while straitening the foil hat, just as Ashley and Mandy came up, with Greg trailing behind them trying to get in the conversation.24

"Whats going on?" Mandy asked but Dani shook her head and shhh'd her while Kori lifted her arm with the pen in it for defense.  Keely pulled her arm down and started," Kori, why are you wearing all camoflage?"25

Kori smiled and said "Just in case I have to leave the school suddenly and need the right thing to blend in!"26

Everyone looked at each other, then Keely started up again, "Whats the tin foil hat for?"27

Kori looked appreciantly at her hat and said, "What, is somthing wrong with it?"28

"No, no not at all, but why are you wearing it?"29

"You DO think there's comething wrong with it!"30

"I do not think anything is wrong with it!"31

"Yes you do, you think that its not fashionable!"32

"I do not think its unfashionable and I'm sure you don't think that either!"33

"Its keeps the government from reading my mind! But that must not be working because you read my mind and knew I didn't think it was ugly!"34

"I swear I did not read your mind"35

"Whatever government offical," Kori shouted, pulling the hat farther down on her head.36

"Um alright...next question...why do you try to hurt people with pens?"37

"O well thats because my Mum took my knives away after I started getting angrey and was using them to throw at my picture of Chuck Norris."38

"Fuckin Chuck Norris?" Mandy asked from the back, and Kori shook her head up and down in reply with a smirk on her face.39

"The very same," She said, then Keely got her attention again.  "Kori, who are they?"40

This time Koris eyes glazed over and she smiled...as she said "O, well that would be the Purple Monkeys... the government has them trapped at Area 51 and I'm a going to save them!!!"41

She beamed as all the girls went in unison,"The Purple Monkeys???"42

"The Purple Monkeys!!??" Greg cried, way late in the chapter, as the lights all shut out on him and he was left in the dark until the next chapter was written.  64
