Fledgling

Fledgling1

I had already noticed he was young, but he had an air about him that suggested that life had treated him hard. He looked up when I drew closer to the bench where he sat and I could see the fire of anger behind his pretty, ice blue eyes. I knew something had set him off and as I took a seat at his side he moved away.2

“I don’t bite.” He turned when I spoke.3

“I’m not into faggots.” He growled.4

“Why the anger?” I asked laying an arm along the back of the bench. 5

“None of your damn business.” He snapped. Watching him I smiled and the aroma of his delicious anger inflamed my growing hunger.6

“You need someone to talk to.” I leaned forward and gently laid my arm across his back. He turned and we locked eyes. “You need me more than you know.” I spoke softly as I entranced him and drew him closer. “I can offer you what other’s can’t.” The anger in his eyes faded but the flame still burned. “Come with me.” I pulled him to his feet and lead him into the shadows.7

“Where are we going?” He faintly asked.8

“I’m taking you out of your miserable life and giving you eternity.” I turned and pressing him against the willow tree leaned in to inhale his young, fresh scent. “Relax, let me take you away from this.” Softly he moaned as I slowly ran my tongue against the side of his neck, my arms slowly circling his young, strong body.9

“Oh damn!” He whimpered when my razor sharp fangs pieced his young flesh and slowly I allowed his blood to fill my mouth. I savoured his taste as I slowly drank from him, his body quivering in my arms. Deeply in leisure I drank and slowly his body fell limp. I held him firmly against my own. “What’s happening?” he quietly asked as I savoured of him and finally he fell totally limp as the final drops of his delicious blood filled my hungry mouth.10

I drew back still holding him and carrying him returned to my lair.11

In my coffin I lay him down and smiled as I watched him sleep in death and knew that by the fall of tomorrow’s sun he would again wake and be hungry. I left him sleeping and left to find him his first meal.12

She was young, scared and there was pleading in her soft, brown eyes. She smiled as I sat at her side. I could smell her youth, vitality and knew she would make my new acquisition the perfect first meal.13

“Come with me.” I whispered softly as I stroked her long, soft hair. “Come with me and I will take away your fear.” Taking her hand I pulled her to her feet and she followed where I lead. 14

“Yes.” She whispered in return.15

As we approached my lair I felt her resistance and pulled her closer.16

“You will come with me.” I spoke firmly. She tried to break way but I held her firm as I descended the stone steps. It would have been an easy matter for me to entrance her brought to her blood a deliciousness that I wanted my new acquisition to taste and savour.17

“Please, let me go.” She weakly pleaded as I secured her in chains against a far wall. “What do you want with me?” She asked struggling against the chains that now held her. 18

“I want nothing with you.” I replied. “You are simply a means to an end.” I smiled walking away from her.19

“You can’t do this!” She screamed again struggling against the chains. “Pleased, let me go!” 20

“Sleep.” I spoke and slowly her lids closed obediently and smiling I joined my new young friend in the coffin.21

It was early, I knew, but I rose. The young girl was still softly crying. She looked up, her eyes red with fallen tears. I watched her as I paced and soon hear my new young friend stirring.22

“Where the...” His pretty eyes fell open. “You!” 23

“Yes.” I smiled. 24

“Where am I?” He tried to rise but fell back weakly. “What the hell happened?” 25

“I saved you from the life you were leading and gave you the gift of eternity.” 26

“What?” Again he tried to rise and slowly he did climb from the coffin. Stepping to the dirt floor he stumbled. I reached out and steadied him. “I don’t understand.” He looked at me then turned to see the young girl laying in chains.27

“Are you hungry?” I asked and I could see the blood lust shining in his pretty eyes. “It’s time you fed.” I led him to her. He looked down at her and I could see the confusion on his face. “Feed on her.” He looked at me. I pulled the girl to her feet and closer. “You have to feed.” He again looked at her and slowly his vampire instinct took over. With a soft growl of lust and hungry he lowered his face. She screamed when he bit roughly into her neck and blood exploded from the wound. “Yes, feed.” I smiled as I watched as he greedily fed. Her screams slowly faded until she, like a rag doll, fell limp in his arms. He continued to feed until finally there was no more. He looked up, I smiled and reaching out wiped the blood from his lips and sucked the stain from my fingers.28

“What have you done to me?” He quietly asked. 29

“I made you part of my family.” I drew him closer holding him close as the convulsions shook him. “Relax, let yourself feel the power.” I whispered softly into his ear. “This is normal for a fledgling. This your body adapting to its new nature.” 30

“I’m a vampire?” He asked quietly. “A monster?”31

“If you like, yes.” I replied. 32

“But I didn’t ask for this.” He drew back and I could see a shadow of anger in his eyes. “You stole my life.” His voice rose slowly. “You murdered me!” He took a firm hold of my jacket and threw me with his new found strength against the wall. Slowly I rose straightening my jacket and turned with a smile. 33

“No asks for this.” I replied. “I know your angry but in time you’ll see...”34

“In time!” He yelled. 35

“There is no turning back.” 36

“Bastard!” He rushed at me and I quickly stepped out of his path. 37

“You are a vampire. You have choices.” He looked up at me. “You can either allow me to teach you how to live as a vampire or wait outside for the rising sun to reduce to ash.” I paused as he rose. “Now, what will it be?” I took a step forward. “As a vampire you’ll never age and live for an eternity. As ash you simply blow away on the wind.”38

“I hate you for this.” He spoke firmly.39

“Yes and you always will.” I replied to him. “As I hate my own maker and always will.” I advanced another step. “We make our fledglings out of a selfish sense of loneliness.” He looked at me, the flame of anger shining his pretty eyes. “There will come a time when you will feel my loneliness and know why I did what I did.” 40

“Teach me, damn it.” He spoke with a low growl.41

    Good Vampire Story

p17 She tried to break (away), but

    p28 lust and (hunger)

p34 "No (one) asks - "I know (you're) angry, but

This is a different view of a vampire. Was the girl turned or just drained? Your vampire seemed that he might be gay. Are you going to continue this story?

My vampires usually don't leave survivors.

Cool. Very interesting look at a vampire fledgling. I especially like the line: "We make our fledglings out of a selfish sense of loneliness."
    Thanks for entering!
